I'm 16 minutes in and I still don't understand what point Dave is trying to make in that letter. He has no coherency or semblance of what he wants to say; it's just a word salad on the page that rambles on. How he managed to pass English/writing at a college level is an indictment of the higher education system.
Have you ever actually held a hard copy of the Observer in your hand? If the font was actually enlarged so a magnifying glass wasn’t required to read it, it was actually double spaced, & he was finally made aware of the concept of the paragraph, the issues (which have been WEEKLY for four f-ing decades), would probably rival the thickness & word count of the installments that Tolstoy sent his publisher during War & Peace’s initial inception. And that’s BEFORE editing. “Word Salad,” in both his writing & conversation, has always been Dave’s forte. Well, that & not being able to process an opinion that differs from his own.
Meltzer: "I'm right about Khan because all I said about Vince in the 80's came true, as I said it would. My 'research' trumps your reality. blllaaahhhhh!!!"
I really HATE Dave Meltzer. Not knowing him personally, but he hits just about every personality trait that I cannot bear in people. Also would like to see if he is as rude and disrespectful to the wrestlers he has and continues to write about today.
Every time Dave comes up i go back to that insightful email Jim had when he went public with his beef with Dave, the email speculated that Dave is clearly on "The Spectrum". This just continues to prove that email prescient.
Someone once wrote in about that a couple years ago that works with such people and is actually married to a woman who's on the spectrum. It's pretty obvious how he has trouble processing people's emotions especially on Twitter when he can't see the other person. He has no self awareness and the best example of that was his interview with Ole Anderson where he just made the interview about his own opinions. Y'know he has a son? I don't think people realize that but he's mentioned that when he's been on Jim's show before saying his son enjoyed a pwg show and enjoyed watching Cody doing Joey Ryan's dick spot. He also has an ex wife.
The Hogan finish that Dave is complaining about happened after Hogan accidently knocked out Inoki - in turn, accidently winning Inoki's belt. Now, the problem was getting the belt off Hogan because if Hulk ain't doing jobs in New York, he's sure not doing clean jobs in Tokyo. This led to a series of ridiculous double count out finishes that really damaged NJ.
“Vinny?” “WWF was the one place with ‘Box Office talent’?” So Dave really has only wanted to be a promoter’s best friend for several decades. No wonder he defends Tony & AEW like family. Poor guy’s just been looking for someone in charge to really appreciate his knowledge & opinion for 40 years. It’s almost sad… Almost.
Vinnie was used more as a put down by older wrestlers and promoters . I believe Cornette had stated before that he hates being called that. To dismiss him as young and not knowing his place.
could be because jim was a star performer and was willing to give him the time of day, so he holstered that gun? jim was known for defending dave to people when he was with wwf and after. also jim appreciates someone who could blister people. oh who knows.. lol
Jim and Dave are both wrestling historians, Dave Meltzer became a supporter of NWA over WWF, which Jim also was. Dave was WWF over WCW when Jim was WWF over WCW. Dave was ROH over TNA when Jim was ROH over TNA. Dave gave Jim booker of the year, manager of the year, etc. year after year. Actually, Dave's readers gave Jim those awards, but Dave didn't argue against it. Jim never saw this side of Dave Meltzer, and Dave Meltzer wasn't always cheerleading Joey Ryan as he worked matches around his penis. But Dave chose Joey Ryan over Jim Cornette, and Jim finally saw this side of Dave. End of friendship.

Could the unnamed TV announcer mentioned in this disjointed ramble be Jack "The Original J.R." Reynolds. He was a Cleveland TV/radio personality who had commentary roles in NWF and IWA & was hired by Vince in 1984. He replaced Vince as the lead commentator for All-Star Wrestling; initially working with Angelo Mosca and then Jesse Ventura (in his first gig). Reynolds and Ventura were also the first commentary team for WWF Prime Time Wrestling. He exited the WWF shows after 11 months due to the difficulty of balancing that expanding role with his Cleveland work; but did periodic fill-in commentary through Spring 1986. And for the record - his radio nickname (see above) had nothing to do with Jim Ross......it was based on J. R. Ewing in "Dallas".
Dave won't allow you to besmirch his beloved Japanese wrestling, or he's gonna be angry, and you won't like him when he's angry. I can't wait for the reply! 😂
So all you guys most likely started watching wrestling as a kid and once you became an adult you all never thought the behind the scenes stuff was more interesting then the actually wrestling shows? I was a Torch guy btw
All the Observer "scoops" are from people in the wrestling business with an obvious grudge. You can tell who was providing the Observer with these "scoops" by looking at who the Observer was putting over. And you can tell who they had an issue with by looking at who the Observer was insulting.
It is so ironic that Meltzer is criticizing him for being biased against WWF when the crowd sizes tell a different story about which is the better promotion lol
Uncle Dave: " Hey Vinny!" From then onwards, Vince and WWE mocks, trolls, and laughs at Dave while blocking Uncle Dave from ever entering WWE backstage ever again
Steiner math was technically correct fraction of percent equations based on uninformed assumptions(we would all have a thirty three and three tenths chance of victory but Kurt Angle knows he can't beat me so he's not even gonna try. That gives me a sixty six and three fifths chance to your thirty three and three tenths chance) That made it funny. Meltzer math is cherry picking numbers that make whoever he has decided woo today sound better while ignoring anything that might complicate his narrative. That makes it annoying. Both are dishonest twisting of facts, but one deals in the perceived odds of a clearly insane and evil wrestler, the other in the state of things present by an allegedly impartial journalist.
HHH would make him buy a ticket and isnt going to send a limo for him and have him escorted to the locker room like Tony. And unlike AEW the show was sold out.
It’s crazy because it’s hard to give guys like Bischoff, Russo, and Prichard credit. But to be completely fair, they were calling Dave for what he was 30 years ago when Dave was still an angel to most inside fans rather than a demented old man clinging to a dying promotion.
The real story here is who would and how does one xollect these letters? Like when you got it, did the paper feel hot to you? Did you tingle. Its kinda lame actually having these letters between two guys, and that you tried to get them at some life point
It's infuriating that every book and documentary on wrestling uses him as a source. So everything we know historically has been filtered through Dave. Who knows how much of wrestling history is false, biased or fan rumor because of him.
Around the 20 minute mark I suddenly thought "wait, is this still the same letter?" Doesn't Dave want this guy to like him? He runs ads for the Observer. How stupid are you to send him a short novel about how wrong his article was and he's presumably a dumb jerk for publishing it? Couldn't the guy just pull the ads?
The more I see and hear examples of Dave's writings, the more I believe in the "Dave has autism" theory. not even trying to put down Dave here, it's just more and more obvious.
Dave's being pretty mean to Norman, a man who only wanted to give Dave money for a product Dave clearly had. I get the impression Dave doesn't want to associate with Norman, but rather than just outright say so, he chose to be as passive aggressive as possible.
The fact he had one to begin with is beyond sad...doesn't he realize he's siding with a political group who would openly kill and rob him, yet somehow Trump is the enemy?
You'd think that at the time when there was more wrestling to write about than there is today that young Uncle Dave wouldn't have the time to write this kind of letter. Also, way to go in impressing an employer when you're a freelancer!
This isn't just like Dave on twitter nowadays. This IS Dave doing twitter in 1984 the old fashioned way through snail mail. Unreal.
This sounds like a mentally insane Dave before he drank the AEW bleach.
@@HyperActive7…and bleach. Just….bleach. Lol!

That letter could be written back to Dave today about him writing about AEW.
Exactly
So, Dave's had an inflated ego for over 40 years, huh
Oh, yeah. He's always been his own biggest fan.

The 6 for $13, one for $2 explains his recent attempts to show that WWE is actually LOSING money. He's been doing Steiner Math all these years.
Steiner Math is real math. Meltzer math is the Indy version of it
I tried opening Dave's credibility files and I keep getting error messages.
Meltzer: "I'm right about Khan because all I said about Vince in the 80's came true, as I said it would. My 'research' trumps your reality. blllaaahhhhh!!!"
I can't believe they left us with a cliffhanger the more Dave wrote the response was becoming more important lol
Protecting Hogan the same way he does Tony Kahn 😂
The truth is out there. Agent Meltzer decided not to look for it.
The response letter should be exactly two words:
"That's great.'"

Not Monday... Wednesday, yea
6 for $13 or $2 each?!?! lol so when he says "Do the Math" on Twitter, he really is serious because he can't do it lmao
Thank god wrestling survived the great slump of 1985.
I wonder how that shit show called Wrestlemania is doing oh wait

All could hear during this was PWT's "flute". Because Dave likes flutes. And PWT hates Dave, and uses the "flute" to mock him.
He's a 100% full blown mental, always was, always will be.
