phone repair guru actually looked into it, the weak point on the back glass is due to the metal plate that all other parts are anchored to isnt directly attached to the glass this year. even on the 14 and 15 where they open from the back the metal backplate is attached to the glass and for those they have another backplate just behind the display for all the components to attach to

As if one giant glass plate on one side wasn't enough, Apple has 2, both of which can be broken if it is dropped. I understand we already use phone cases (for any smartphone, really), but you can't justify the use of titanium to compensate for more weakpoints. I mean... smartphones will always be dropped.

The reason they dropped the Bionic naming was because originally it was created to distinguish a chip with Neural Engine, right now, after dropping the A11, every single chip in a phone sold/supported now has A12 and up and all of them have a Neural Engine.

I think when testing any phone, iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, etc. maybe having the Software version listed as well could also be helpful. I know when new phones rollout there are always hot fixes in terms of updates so testing on an older version versus a new version could lead to slight discrepancies. It could also be negligible but I do feel like it could help those who look at the charts have a better overall understanding.

Different actions for the action button in different focus modes is my suggestion for features. I mean, if you go to the movies all the time, set a geolocation focus for movies and set it to ring/silent, during work you can have it set to open a specific app or maybe flashlight depending on what you do for work, then have a vacation focus that makes the action button a camera quickdraw. That would just make it perfect along with Linus's idea for the double press or hold. Certainly miles better than the backtap feature

However, this does not stop me from criticizing every single company that decides to release a new phone that still doesn't have these features, including the phones that I buy. Nowadays, I go for the flagship phone that has the most features for a decent price. Last time I was looking for a new phone, I was deciding between Asus, Sony, and ZTE. Next time I shop for a phone, I will likely be deciding between the same companies, since they seem to be the only ones I can think of that release flagship phones that still have features. You better believe that I criticize Asus or whichever company's phone I happen to be using every time they fail to include these awesome features.

When I heard about the "action button," I immediately thought about the "Bixby button" on my Samsung phone, but I had the opposite reaction to Linus because the finger-scan button on my Samsung phone does single press, double-tap, and scan finger gestures, all of which can call up specific programs or do OS functions. (I think some of that is part of Samsung's Good Lock program, which adds a lot of other functionality too.) At any rate, Samsung's already got "next level" functionality which Apple seemed to think was good enough to copy. (That happens all the time. I'm not dissing Apple for recognizing a good thing and using it.)
With all the varied concerns about "3rd Party" USB cables, it is good to see that Apple now has the same functionality as Android for using headphones, USB A, and video out using that USB-c connection. Having recently had to get an Apple-specific video adapter for someone else, being able to use what's already in my kit is great.

      and
B.) It really shouldn't have done THAT much damage from pushing in on it to completely crack the entirety of the back.
I get part of the issue was the fact that the phone would not bend, which is a star in my book, but what's the point if you can literally shatter the entire thing and just make it a hand hazard. I get there's no perfect material to make these phones out of, but I still feel like iPhones are made to break to sell more (considering their stance on right to repair).
Edit: I still don't like Samsung's Gorilla Glass backs because they can still break from miniscule shit, but I'm still glad it's durable....still rather have plastic

You can use the power button to do what you want too on Samsung S23 Ultra . Action button isn't all that. Even the old bixby button could be mapped to do what you wanted .

Back in 2013 a teacher of mine forgot his Macbook at home. He attached his iPhone with like 4 dongles to the beamer and did his class like that. I suppose support for external video output has been implemented in iOS for quite some time, but not many people tried to go from Lightning to VGA.

Gotta love the teacher hardware solutions. I have seen a teacher use an iPad with USB-C to VGA to an AV switch to HDMI to an Epson projector during my time as a high school student.
