Seems to be a trend with CW that if you want the COSC version of a watch, they also force you to go with oddball colors. In this case the 2 saturated colors, for others the bronze case.

Colors in camera shots may be deceiving. It may be worth to see different colors in person.
CW have 60 days returns and 0% finance may allow to take 2 or more watches and make decision which color you like the most, then send back the other ones (or all of them if there is no joy).

I had the Purple Titanium on the top of my list but it unfortunately just dropped off due to the scratching issue that you helpfully highlighted.
I buy titanium for the aesthetic but primarily for the hardness and durability. I don’t see the value (or point) in paying a premium for titanium and have it scratch easily.
    What a shame.

If I were you I wouldn't get scared off by scratches...I can't speak for The Twelve, but I have a Tudor Pelagos 39 which is also grade 2 titanium and I don't notice it scratching more easily compared to my stainless steel watches, doesn't matter if compared to the standard 316L, or 904L steel of my Rolex.
Sooner or later, every watch will scratch anyways, so having the mentality of keeping a watch free of scratches will only make it hurt more, once that first inevitable scratch shows up...

Scratches annoy the shit out of me, especially when the finish gets marred by nothing more than resting your hand on a desk. It boggles the mind why manufacturers don’t bother to case-harden the material. I would gladly pay more for a watch that I don’t have to baby.

Good attempt from CW, good-looking watches, and adding variety to their lineup. Two big misses to me, however, is not offering the SW300 with the stainless steel. Many like the heft of SS and prefer that over Ti. They'll miss a lot of sales with that omission. Also, grade 2 with no harding? Why pay for the upgraded movement and unique dial color if the case and bracelet will scratch up easier than the SS version? To me, another miss for sales. Maybe 2nd generation will have more cohesive thought.

which movement would you choose , the powermatic 80 or the SW200 ?

According disposable movement... How much is service (overhaul of whole movement) and how much is the new movement?
If they are similar cost then maybe there is no point in worrying about serviceability and from economical point of view it may be better to use watch for many years until it develop any missbehaviour/failure and then replace the movement.

why is that watch a step up on quality vs the pre? PRX movement is better, the dial is also amazing. I don't understand why you think that one is a step up in quality

    • @tomasz5274
      @tomasz5274 4 місяці тому

Perhaps watch more close ups in YT clips of both watches to try to asses the quality yourself. Arms, dials, printouts etc.
If you don't see difference there is probably no point to pay more for CW.
According movement the PRX have 80h power reserve vs 38h of this watch, but... Powermatic 80 to achive the 80h lowered frequency from 4Hz to 3Hz (seconds arm sweep is less "fluent"/attractive), also people complain that Powermatic 80 have plastic components and is less or perhaps non-servicable and instead it's disposable.
Good luck with research and making your own choice :)

I like this design more than any other current ‘affordable’ integrated bracelet sports watch on the market, by a country mile! But I’m very disappointed that CW only offer the premium movement on the duller much more scratch prone titanium versions. I hope at some point in the very near future they rectify this.
Either by using a scratch resistant coating on the titanium, or even better, just upgrade from Grade 2 to Grade 5 (is the latter that much more expensive?) or just offer the SW-300 as an option on the steel version, which visually just looks so much nicer anyway. I might even purchase one myself at that point, it’s a very desirable timepiece…almost.

Furthermore, no white/lighter dial for the titanium version so I have to pass until Christopher Ward comes to their senses. At $1800, I see no reason for a titanium watch to scratch that easily. Also, I don’t see why they could not have just put a non COSC SW-300 movement instead of the inferior SW-200 movement in the stainless steel watch as I’ve seen the Islander put an SW-3xx grade movement in their $695 GMT.

@@tomfilippone6303 Indeed, you are correct. Sellita makes no Date variants of both movements. I thought that was just an option for the SW200. However, they are a lot leas common so it could be a supply issue as well. If the Twelve takes off you don't want to be restricted by that.
Going to a different supplier is probably not an option either. Not worth it after working together for so many years.

@@BobbyTable you have a good point. However, I think that watch companies put the date window simply because that’s the tradition. No one uses the date window anymore because we all have smart phones, just like most people don’t have land lines anymore in their houses. It’s such a beautiful watch, I just think it would look amazing without the date window. However, you could be right in your analysis.

A shame I had to cancel my order due to the worst customer service I have ever experience in a watch company. Probably they had high demand but still… they have to honor confirmed orders or at least answer worried customers. I was very disappointed to the point of cancelling my order and taking my money elsewhere. A real pity.

Almost 2 grand for a brand that has just about the same history and prestige as my lawnmower: No thanks. It would be nice to know the weight difference by the way between the steel and the titanium version as that determines wearability and comfort on wrist . Sorry but I personally dislike CW , there are many better options out there for $2000 or less in my opinion. I would buy a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 if I wanted an integrated bracelet look watch and have about $1250 left over to buy another watch .

Many companies use either ETA or Sellita movements in their watches. Why act surprised? Go purchase a Rolex if you want entire watch to be made in house. You will pay for it too.
