  • You have been asking for it, so here is a huge review of all things coffee at the grocery store! First we talk about buying whole beans and what to look for on the bag. Then we review k cups and why you want to avoid them. We cover decaf coffee, and why you only want to buy the swiss water method decaf coffee. There are some really good instant coffee options now, but the beast ones are online. Many of you wanted to know about low acid coffee, so I tell you which beans to buy and from which region. Then we talk about cold brew coffee and flavored coffee drinks, and how to avoid the ones with high sugar and natural flavors. Lastly we talk about some some the best coffee creamers on the market! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO

I have recently visited a Kona coffee farm in Hawaii. The master roaster suggests putting whole beans in the freezer (not the fridge) to keep them fresh longer. However, do not let the beans defrost before using. He says the frozen beans will grinder even finer powder for espresso.

For whoever owns a nutribullet, you can grind coffee beans there. The two blades leaves it coarse and the 4 blades leaves it finer and does it faster, about 30 seconds. Also, it's better to use the small cup so the the grind is even and that lasts me for 1 wk/1 person

I found you three days ago. I've been bingeing like Netflix. Love the content. You two are killing it. Something that wasn't brought up was mold. Mold is common in some popular coffee choices.

    • @nicholausjamesjay83
      @nicholausjamesjay83 4 роки тому +12

I follow the international coffee markets pretty closely, and if you get high-end expensive single origin coffee, it's almost never moldy. Usually, they put the moldy stuff in the pre-ground coffee so you can't tell it's bad coffee. Don't buy the pre-ground stuff or the instant coffee because it usually has moldy beans.

Invader coffee has some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! I love how the original invader blend is air roasted, preventing the beans from being too acidic or burnt, but my favorite coffee that they offer is the mexican chocolate. It is the smoothest best flavored coffee blend that I have ever had!! Another good blend that I’ve tried is the Whiskey blend which is my third favorite. No bitterness yet deep flavor, it is to die for!! Finally I love how the company is run by a vertern and how the website is super user friendly and delivery is fast and on time. I highly, highly, highly suggest you get yourself some invader coffee.

Coming from a coffee family (my wife is a coffee importer), your video is spot on!
    Some additional things to add:
    1) good coffee does not need flavoring, sugar or creamer. If your coffee is bitter, it's probably poor quality.
Good coffee is naturally sweet and you should taste the natural notes. Would you add anything to a good wine?
    2) try buying from a local coffee roaster instead of a store whenever possible. Much fresher since they roast in house and doesn't have to be shipped or trucked anywhere.
    3) store coffee in an airtight container, you can the leave outside or refrigerate
    4) brewing your own coffee will save you money in the long run. For the price of a pound of coffee you can only get 3 cups of coffee ($3) at Starbucks....a pound of coffee yields about 30+ 6oz cups! Do the math!

I love my herbal coffee. Kaffree Roma is the brand I usually get. Have to order it online though. It’s caffeine free, non GMO, dairy free, and vegan. Made from roasted malt barley with a touch of chicory and rye. Add a splash of coconut creamer and it’s delish!

i like Roma too. Have you tried Dandy Blend? Wondering what a Roma drinker thinks of Dandy. Thanks

Annmarie Walker I have not tried that brand. The other brand I really like is Caf-Lib. I’ll have to give Dandy Blend a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great knowledge as usual. I would definitely say spraying is a big deal. Only organic always. Trader Joe’s has cheap organic. Also, @flavcity what do you think of Acrylamide? It seems non escapable. Instant Coffee was found to have 300 times more Acrylamide.

Nice job, as per usual Bobby! Just FYI folks, the stainless steel reusable k-cup does NOT work well in the Keurig machines. It sprays and makes a little bit of a mess. The purple plastic ones on amazon do work well, though - but plastic, meh :-\ Always weary of that when heat is applied. That said, Bobby - in drip machines hot water is passing through all plastic parts...so not sure if your criticism on the k-cup for health reasons is any better than how a drip machine uses mainly plastic parts.

Honestly I think Bobby is a little bit of a hypochondriac.... If you clean your machine regularly and fill it regularly with fresh water it should be fine.

You are the best. I watch every week. Where else am I going to find out this stuff? For instance, just stocked up on Primal Kitchen products, thanks to your video on salad dressings. I found out they make great BBQ sauce and steak sauce as well. Oh, and I showed this video to my husband and, before you revealed your age, we had guessed you were 35.

So you are teaching me how to shop and how to cook as well. Hmm, a big influence on my life, you are ... : ) Thank you. No more "natural flavors." Or canola oil. I'm putting your cookbook into our budget. Food prep is a constant in my life, preparing meals that can be eaten "on the go." But it all needs to be quick prep. I see you do the same. My husband has a food warmer at work, so as long as he plans ahead, I can include food that is better if hot. Salads are my current challenge. Need those greens. But how not to be boring....? Thanks again, looking forward to browsing your past videos and seeing what the future brings.

I’m so glad you didn’t endorse flavored coffees. I bought a can a year or so ago & felt like I was drinking a scented candle. I despise synthetic flavors. I only bought it because I used to drink DD hazelnut back when I had a much less sophisticated palette.

I was surprised when you said the grocery stores didn't carry the two instant coffees you recommended because I know the local Natural Grocers health food store carries both and I have seen the Laird coffee in regular grocery stores as well.

I agree about by whole coffee beans. I use to by the ground and it didnt have the flavor i thought it would. I now have been buying whole beans coffee for the last year and grind then and then brew. A bag is gone in my house with in 2 weeks. What a difference in the flavor.
