- As part of our WIZZ Cares sustainability platform, we have committed to recruiting 1,000 women pilots by 2027. Currently under 5% of our pilot workforce are women and we’re aiming for this number to be over 20% by the end of the decade. We will do this by creating a healthy and supportive work environment for everyone and breaking down old-school gender stereotypes one step at a time. For this, we followed Captain Andreea Popa and Senior First Officer Minola Platon on a return flight from Budapest to Skopje and talked to them about the highlights of being a pilot at WIZZ.

I hope you are hiring based on experience and merit, not just the fact that a candidate is of a particular gender. If I'm travelling on a plane, I want to be sure the best possible pilot is at the controls, regardless of their sex.

Don't worry, it won't happen anymore thanks to Covid, we can fly safe with the most experienced pilots there are now as the rest got laid off work.
As a Flight instructor on sailplanes i can safely say most female students i instructed where more cautious and more compliant with procedures than their male counterparts. In my opinion this makes for better and safer pilots.
In my personal experience woman talks way to much during cruise……well…. Also during cruise

I’m also an instructor on gliders and in the past 5 years we’ve had 3 accidents. Who were the pilots? All women
Wizzair is the best low-cost airline in Europe. I have had 14 flights to 8 different countries in the last 2 years. 👍
All my respect for these people. I travel a lot with wizz air and every time I go on a smooth and beautiful flight! A lot of ladies! And the smooth flight!

I love wizzair its one of the best company I never had problem with them in 6 years traveling to UK from Romania 🇷🇴 . They have the best airline on Europe before to fly with them i flying one time with Ryan Air wich was worse and crapy. So yes the wizair its the best. 🤗🤗 and I'm happy because kn board ots romanian staff 💘 love them they are so respectfully and happy to offer you the best services when you need ❤ ♥

I believe competitive pilots able to do their duty should be employed no matter of gender. Having an goal to have 1000 female pilot by certain date will just create pressure on recruitment team creating negative selection at the end...

I am afraid wizz is trying to do something from marketing point of view amazing, but in practice may harm safety... I hope they will keep quality of pilots and not downgrade it just to support this project... Wizz needs good pilots not female/male pilots. Gender doesn't matter, quality does.
I love wizz air I really do but they are trying to meet the EUs gender policy which is impossible instead of focusing on gender they should be focusing on quality of airmanship and ensuring the pilots they have now they retain and that new pilots not only meet but exceed the standards set by their time served colleagues in the hot seats that's more important then gender

Несколько раз летала в Барселону и назад, капитаном была женщина Агнешка, фамилию не помню. Было все-таки слегка предвзятое отношение, что за штурвалом женщина, но , к счастью, на полете вообще никак не отразилось. Так что молодцы женщины- пилоты!

Nice , we need more women in the service . As a person who has been on many flights , I can tell you that most of the flights had flight attendants as women . We can definitely accomodate a change and get some more female pilots , specifically captains .

When there is 4-8 times as many men in an industry unless your hiring 5000-8000 pilots this is a blatant case of discrimination. you recruit based on merit not gender. Its great to see more females inn the industry but if its holding back males so Wizz can meet a female target number that is the exact definition of discrimination. Recruit the best and most capable whatever the gender.

Nice & surely a good intention. But why not the best PILOTS; regardless of gender. Tired of this topic - emancipation. Most cannot hear it any longer. Decades of hard work & technology made this job now available for almost everyone - often not the best & and it shouldn’t be confused with gender politics.
To this point: The best women & men belong into our flight decks with skills & technical knowledge/ degree - not a certain number...,and certainly not lifestyle orientated personnel.
Nowadays its become taboo to say that men and women dont have the same centers of interest. So now if there are more male pilots than women it HAS to be because of discrimination against women or whatever...
Even though most women just arent interested in being pilots which is fine. But were going towards an industry where skill isnt the recruitment factor anymore

Although I agree that the aviation industry is heavily dominated by Male pilots, I think that this is reverse sexual discrimination. Regardless of sex or background, or company targets/advertising campaigns, I think that only the best pilots should be picked. Some flight schools like CAE are evening offering full scholarships to only women. I think that this is totally unfair and unjust, so much for equality in this world.
