That’s the problem. They are lead by a bunch of players who have zero clue. The HC is soft and incapable of leading. Ticking time bomb. Another rebuild loading in 2026. FML.
Always good to listen to Dave, very considered thoughts. Both Grier and McDaniel must know that things have to change. Will be interesting to see what transpires this offseason. Would like Hill gone to set an early example of the change in culture. It must be about the team and not individuals. We also need to be tough on the trenches and get a big back for short yardage situations. Here’s to next year
Clayton and Duper were similar in skill set, speed and size, too. Get the beef about all the money but they add to the roster. They couldn’t run the ball effectively when needed which allowed other teams to lay off
Dave Hyde brings up a great point. He he biggest problem that I have with them running it back with McDaniel and Grier is that Ross and Grier (especially) knows everything that we don’t know. We see symptoms of the lack of discipline, lack of control by McDaniel, etc play out on the field, but Grier is in the building, so he gets a better feel of how well McDaniel do or don’t control this team. He sees this dysfunction first hand. Grier obviously has a reason to not relay all of this to Grier…bc it means he made another bad coaching hire.
Back in 2019, Brian Flores’ first season as the Miami Dolphins head coach, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was fresh off of his rookie season, requested a trade just one week into the season. Local media crucified Flores as Minkah became an All-Pro player. Perhaps, Flores targeted him as a rules breaker and trading him sent a message to the whole team. The conversation here is management make rules then gives excuses why they cannot control players. Team hears these excuses and seeing no consequences, repeat bad behaviors. Everytime this coach and GM say they are helpless the more power they give to players. Management lacks leadership. It is the primary reason they are a losing club.
I believe the Offensive and Defensive coordinators should be put in charge of discipline. Head coach is too busy and cannot be distracted. HC sets the policy , OC and DC enforce it
It’s been apparent to me, and many fans that Chris Grier is not a brilliant guy. He is a cliche machine. The Titans fired their GM Ran Carthon after 2 unproductive years. Grier remains. Both are sons of former NFL execs. Carthon’s dad was Maurice, RB and FO guy.
Coearly, the players dont give two craps about what mike Mcdaniel says. And we know Grier is just a con artist after his oline comments. This is the perfect front office for the owner who tampers and loses draft picks and tells the head coach to take some time off and tank a season. Next season is already over folks. If we get 5 wins, ill be shocked. What a joke.
I agree with you except for one thing: I don't think we'll get fortunate enough to lose enough games to get high draft picks. This clown show will put just enough decent effort together to make themselves look legitimate, and we'll win about 8 games once again, and Ross will accept their injury excuses and give them yet another year. Time to root for the Lions!
@HeyChickens the fins don't have the money to fill in enough holes. Grier also can't draft well enough to fill in all the holes. The roster will be worse next year,, which is hard to believe. I don't think they win more than 6-7 games. The tough guy mcdaniel routine isn't going to work. Those guys don't want to tackle.
Look at Dan Campbell, his first practice he laid the foundation and expectations. The press conference gave me more of a feeling that they are now scrambling to try and lay that foundation in year 4.
Rule number one in any sport, no matter how great the player once he wants out. Trade that player immediately or you will witness the downfall of your organization. Never let one single player disrupt your organization.
Yeah, but for every Josh Allen, there are a bunch of qbs who don't develop at all, but that doesn't mean you should stop taking swings as an organization. Grier doesn't like to be wrong, and he's willing to double down on a failed experiment instead of taking accountability for the mistake.
Alain, appreciate your coverage and insight. Having been through these several times, did you get a sense there was more transparency and candidness in this press conference than others? And if so, why do you think that might be the case?
My hypothesis. Hill started off the season hurt and or disgruntled and or insubordinate and or undisciplined led to decline in performance led to MM making him the 2nd or 3rd read (As opposed to fines) which locked them into a vicious cycle. Literally every team can beat cover 2. MM is smarter than most of us I'm sure... it's really the only thing that makes sense.
Absolute joke fest and embarrassment. Tua wearing Fendi shades all game while rockin a football snuggy. It looked like he was taking a nap in the 4th quarter. Rodgers dismantling our defense throwing 4 Tds, and Tyreeks post-game comments all to add insult to injury. Chris Perkins asked a great question regarding Culture change. He nailed it! This is a culture issue-the inmates are running the asylum. Mikes that one boss you enjoyed working for because he simply didn’t give a damn about the attention to detail! Nothing to look positive to next season! 🐬
As a 3rd gen Miamian, Hyde is the best since Pope. It’s a distant 2nd, but a journalist (columnist) who doesn’t put access over his professional integrity. And is usually right.
Mike McDaniels said at the beginning of the season that this team belongs to the players and they were responsible for whatever..... This is what you get when the inmates are running the asylum!
You definitely get rid of Hill. If he violated his contract by refusing to play you void the contract. You set an example by showing that even the most talented players must toe the line.
I can tell you from personal experience, that for a new manager its hard to delegate responsibility and be a disciplinarian when your of people doesnt get the message snd McDaniel is guilty of both
I thought I just heard someone say that they had time to throw deep, lol. The evidence does not support that statement sir. Our O line was one of the worst in true pass set stats.
Chris Grier: "We've talked to Tua and he assured us that he knows how important his availability is to the team." What does that even mean?? Didn't he know that this year?
Everybody always focuses on Tua's health, but the bigger problem is when he IS healthy. He has a weak arm that can only complete short passes and he has no athleticism to run. A team with him as their quarterback is forever doomed. Period. Someday we'll look back on this period and be like, "Wow. We spent 10 years on a guy who just wasn't very good.".
Go back and watch McD speaking to the room during a team meeting on Hard Knocks. He was MF this and MF that . Look at the players and how some of them aren't even paying attention .
The point about tardiness is really easy. In the contract you put in there that if they are late to more than three meetings, then they lose half their salary.
You don't have to rule with an iron fist to have a disciplined team. There are ways to be a players coach and still hold players accountable. Mike Vrabel and Andy Reid are players coaches. You have to not only earn the respect of players, but you also have to prove you can win. I think this team lacks attention to detail. They don't seem well prepared. Alot of the same mistakes are made by the same players from week to week. It doesn't appear from the outside looking in that Mike is involved in all phases of the team. The offense looks very predictable at times with alot of the same type of plays that teams have caught on to, and he doesn't seem to be very open-minded to trying new things or delegating some responsibility to his staff. At first, it might not be a big issue, but after a while, especially when you're losing. The players will start to doubt you and lose belief in what you're doing. Once that happens, players don't buy in and they start to tune out the coach. If something drastic doesn't change, my guess is that they lose a few games early, and Mike loses the locker room before getting fired at some point during or after the season.
I can't see a rookie head coach coming in and being this disciplinary person right off the bat! Got to be yourself and know what you're talking about period. Cant be a push over, but you not coming into a organization and moving mountains without being proven or you end up like flores. Tomlin for example is cemented so he can do it
Yeah. Grier said injuries got the best of them this year, after saying that injuries are a 100% chance in the NFL. For Tua, it’s a 1,000% chance and they didn’t process any position.
We need some new young media talent also.. i dont mind tuning in but barely agree with any of the old media guys, they're jaded and honestly just dont like the team. Ace Per Head is about the only older media guy i can agree with most of the time.
The Dolphins are a soft team. The South Florida media may be even softer. One or two tough questions. Local media more worried about access and relationships in the building.
Now I know why they got rid of Brian Flores because, they soft management, Brian Flores was getting rid of all the soft player soft coaches soft everything,🎯💯 hate because Flores got fired🤬
I think you're romanticizing the Flores era. To me the thing that stood out is that Grier has learned nothing from building his team on players with lengthy injury histories like Tua, Armstead,Phillips, Chubb, etc.
McDaniels is over his head, you are right - he not the kind of guy to command the room. McDermott for the Bills is not the best strategy guy but he has command of the room. The Dolphins should go after Pete Carrol.
@@mr.morales4074terrible if you can’t handle accountability, responsibility, or acting like a professional. Or winning despite a bust of a quarterback. Some folks would rather be right than be an adult. Sad
Yes, they should've had a better plan at backup QB...I agree. But how many of the 32 NFL teams have a stud at backup QB where if the starter goes down, that team wouldn't miss a beat? Not many. They're BACKUPS for a reason!
Fine Tyreek Hill all you want and he probably won't care... trade his ass away for a conditional 7th round pick and it will hurt his ego. The guy is a narcissist!

You can tell he has no idea what he’s doing but yeah let’s bring him back. He has no other offense. He’s not changing nothing. The defenses out there have this offense pegged.
What about Tua saying “this isn’t Mike’s team, this is our team”. McDaniel has as much control as a substitute teacher.
😂😂😂

@ seriously the players are his teammates?? What kind of progressive bs is that?! This is a gladiator sport, not home ec.
That’s the problem. They are lead by a bunch of players who have zero clue. The HC is soft and incapable of leading. Ticking time bomb. Another rebuild loading in 2026. FML.
@ everyone but Ross can see it. Why wait for the impending 2025 disaster?? 🤦🏽♂️
Which is his fault!
As far Tua; he doesn't need to speak at all unless it's on the field. He's also on the hotseat like the Coach and GM.
Grier saying they’re a players led team is mind boggling.
Alain & Dave💪🏾🔥 The Best Duo By Far ‼️
Always like to listen to Poup, Hyde and Perk. They keep it real.

If your HC can’t be bothered to hold players accountable he has zero business being a HC. You don’t download that to your assistants. Christ almighty.
Unrealistic when you consider how much someone likr Tyreek makes compared to a coordinator.
Drjohn, then hire a REAL OC/play caller, so McD can focus on the entire game.
