You know I'm always on the lookout for old school Philly techniques and Tim Witherspoon embodied the defensive prowess of the old school with several of the techniques he used.
An excellent heavyweight of the 80's and 90's Witherspoon when focused could give problems to the best of them.
In this video we can see some of the methods he used for defence such as rubber necking, cross blocking, cross arm and how he handled both the jab and stiff arm of Larry Holmes who was amongst the best ever at both jabbing and stiff arming.

Strong. He walked Holmes down like he was nothing
Tim had a slick defense and one of the best overhand rights in the business. Gave Holmes a very tough fight.
Great video! This is the stuff he's teaching on his new channel!
Great channel …I watch it all the time

This a very entertaining and competitive fight. Holmes definitely won.
larry threw that right hand from his back pocket hahahaha
He talks about all of this on his UA-cam channel
What is the difference between the cross block and the cross arm?
Positioning of the arms really. The rear hand comes across the forehead and the lead arm is used as a lever to block the punches depending on whether it is to the body or head but they are both draped across the body/head hence the term cross arm.
