Chorus:
We going riding on the freeway of love
Wind's against our back
We going riding on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac
We going riding on the freeway of love
Wind's against our back
We riding on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac

Back when the Grammys were worth something and awarded for talent not fame. The Queen Of Soul was freakishly talented. ❤❣️😍
Suga she was beyond talented. She was gifted
There will NEVER be anyone like Aretha Franklin
Never ❤
Aretha Franklin is still singing while Clarence Clemmons is playing his soulful saxophone. What a beautiful place Heaven must be, with all this amazing music
Wow, I figured that was The Big Man❤❤❤. Can't believe I'm just now realizing this.
Today is 03/28/2024... I will never never never even come close to Aretha's voice....learning this tune for a performance with my band..Aretha, have mercy on me from heaven!!!💖

30 years later and this song hasn't aged a day.
And the good memories they bring don't age either .
On fire 🔥!!! Like her sign Aries ♈
It was well produced
Thanks
Still tapping my toes!
When her funeral was over and they came out with her casket, there were several hundred Pink S out side. I thought that was a beautiful tribute to her.
There is a reason Aretha is #1 on Rolling Stone's Top 200 All Time Greatest Singers List and this recording is PROOF! Aretha was simply on another level spiritually and emotionally. What a gift from God! 😇👍❤️🙏
And there's a reason she was the first female inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. She ws😢the GOAT
BEAUTIFUL LADY-on the freeway of love -going HOME! Forever in my heart!
So Eloquent!
riffle queen This was my introduction to the Queen of Soul.
WOW!!! I will party with ARETHA all day!!! REJOICE-She loved to PARTY!!! how do I know? SHE'S an ARIES!!!

Aretha Franklin is not dead. Her amazing powerhouse voice and legacy still lives on. Just like other divas and divos who aren't with us physically anymore like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Prince, Eartha Kitt, Selena, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Presley, Amy Winehouse, Elizabeth Taylor, Farrah Fawcett, Adam West, Marilyn Monroe and many more.
If your here looking up this song your a legend for knowing this legend.

As an 80s baby this was one of the first songs I recall enjoying in life. Later would discover how beyond talented this lady was. Thank you Aretha! RIP.
RIP Queen of soul for ever will missed
I remember seeing this video when I was probably 7-8 years old on MTV. Back when MTV was good and played some great music. What a great time it was to grow up.
Yes, beyond talent with a gift from the heavens. We all miss her, there’ll never be another like her.
You know that's right.
Not Jay, sorry Hendrix

Missed
Melody Sanger Clarence stamping his brilliance on another great song. His memory will live on
He put so much soul into his sax playing
He'll always be "The Big Man".
Today marks three years since Aretha Franklin passed away. I was 12 when this song was a hit, and I still enjoy it! Keep resting in peace, Queen Of Soul.
voice
Such a catchy tune from the 80s! The best decade of my life so far! It was a great time for everything, beats this 2020 crap!
yeah, these 2020s are going to go down in the history books as the suckiest decade of the last couple hundred years.
bet on it.
RIP Aretha Franklin ...your music will live forever

Holy cow, I didn't realize Clarence Clemons played on this! Makes it even better
Excellent saxophonist.
Both Aretha and Clarence are in Heaven playing this masterpiece riding in a pink Cadillac. Never forgotten.
You know they are! Got Heaven jamming big time!
shes not dead just her physical body. The spirit never dies.
You´re right, Walter Roberts. The soul is eternal. Just the physical ´vechile´ dies. She is not gone, just her body.

What about Mandy Moore?
Love you Aretha Franklin. Continue to Rest in Paradise
Amen
With all the fame and money she had, she still stayed home in Metro Detroit. She could of went anywhere in the world to live but she stayed home. She repped Detroit and Michigan to the fullest!
Because racism back then did not tolerate integration and did not allow blacks to buy a home in a wealthy white neighborhood.
suffolk6311.... what are you talking about ...she could have bought a home anywhere in the 70s 80s 90s 2000s.... oh yes they were integrated if you had the money .... Nat King Cole lived in an all white prestigious neighborhood in the late 50's.... they gave him helll but he stayed ....matter fact Aretha lived in California for many years.... she just loved Detroit and made it her permanent home as did Anita Baker who of course was born and raised there.... Aretha Franklin was born in Tennessee.
That's why people loved and respected her so much; she never forgot where she came from, and was a regular person! That speaks volumes! Same with Bernie Mac; he could have lived anywhere in Chicago, but chose to stay on the south side where he was raised. People respect that!
Chris Keys 1
Chris Keys she did????
One of Aretha's best...RIP Queen of Soul!
The best
não sabia o que ia transformar
Gives me the goosebumps.
As long we remeber her, she will never die in our hearts.
Amen to that!!!!😎😎😎🤟🤟
Legends never die
Her voice is unmistakable. No other singer sounds like her to my knowledge.
Rest In Peace! Your music will keep your memory alive! This really saddens me 💔💔🙏🏻😢
Same here! Another legend gone😢💔🌷

I played this song when I drove into the Detroit city limits for the first time last week. It just felt appropriate. RIP, Aretha.
Gonna drive to detriot here in a few weeks gonna blare this song for the Queen of soul
I've never seen such overjoyed people playing a song 💋

I grew up in a time where we had the best soulful and pop music and of course, Aretha, loved her and her music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
girl you better say that!!.
Terri Robison ✊🏾
Terri Robison I watched this video all the time on MTV, timeless classic from a gifted and talented lady.
Terri Robison I'm so thankful too that i did as well.
Lucky enough to have grown up with Aretha's soul blasting voice...Legend! Rest In Peace Lady Soul
What's so fun about This Video that it also paid Hommage to Detroit, MI where the Car Factories once worked 24/7. Alot of guys Moonlighted as Musicians who would become Motown Funk Brothers.
Car factories still produce 24/7. I can tell you're not from the D😂 #DetroitAintDead
I stand corrected forgive me.
yes maybe so but i believe it all started in Detroit.
The Big 3
Jun 1985, The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin arrived on the streets with the Freeway of Love and I totally remember this video that jam had me dancing while my father would be driving everytime it came in the radio.
That wink she did towards the end lets you know that she deserve that r.e.s.p.e.c.t. where it says on the pink Cadillac's name tag as the video's end comes in color.
Rip Re-Re you're on that Freeway of Heavenly Love
Just retired from General Motors after 42 years, this song embodies the working man.
Rest in Eternal Love Queen Aretha.
You with Jesus now.
💔
Dark FlowerChild yes
I remember my grandmother Doris who was a die hard Aretha fan and my father a preacher were playing the piano and organ in my grandmother house one Saturday. They were playing a gospel tone, my father on the organ my grandmother playing the piano and out of nowwhere my grandmother bust out in the middle of the song, "We going riding on the freeway" made my father so angry cause she would bust out a Aretha song all the time. She loved her some Aretha! Rest in Paradise Queen, you run into my grandmother, which Im sure u have already, tell her I said Hello, I love her and the family is doing fine.
Great story.
Funniest thing i've read on my monday morning. Thanks
Lmao! Grandma said she could rejoice in her savior with any song!
TOO CUTE 😀 😀💕 💕
Amen
During her funeral ,pink Cadillacs were present 👍
No one could play the sax like Clarence. The man is a saxophone god!
Thinking the exact same thing, rest in peace.
Clarence Clemons?
I would like to be a Sax 🎷 angel. My favorite instrument 🎷.
100%!
Clarence who is also from the E Street band?
She was among the most exceptional singers that ever came out of the music industry before it died. That voice is just unmistakable. She was doing seriously good work from before Motown as a thing. And she certainly was prolific---hit, after hit, after hit. Very first song I ever heard her sing is "Sweet/Bitter Love", and every song of hers became a favorite of mine after that. She will never be gone. The power of her voice and her music live on forever. Nothing that comes out of today's garbage 'music' industry comes even close.
A lot of her hits were done with the Swampers from Muscle Shoals.
Must agree with your opinion of today's 'garbage' music. Not only is it uninspiring, and soul-less, but often it is so bad that I turn it off a half-minute into it.
THE SPIRIT OF DEE-TROIT!!! The city has experienced hard times but it's bouncing back. You can't kill Detroit because Detroiters are a tough breed. Aretha was a strong lady, and she will always be Detroit. This is the greatest music video ever made. R.I.P., Queen of Soul, Queen of Detroit.
Agreed. The city is very well represented here; then a municipality of 1.5 million within the city limits...5th largest in the nation population-wise. Franklin embodies that spirit of Detroit.
James Clark, The Crawford Boys helped make Detroit strong.
Hats off to the Crawfords and all of Detroit.
That may be but we Chicagoans are a lot smarter-HA!
🤗🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Went to Detroit 3 years ago, loved the vibe and the people. And this song is so fucking cool.
Just heard this on the radio and I just had to comeback here and listen ❤️❤️ Who here with me in 2023 for this classic? #RIPARIDISEQUEEOFSOULATETHAFRANKLIN👑
dorothychambers. ALWAYS here when it comes to Aretha. She knew how to belt it out, or what.
@@herry8488 YEEESSSS she did
Arista Records released this song on June 5, 1985. I've lived in the Detroit area my whole life and a lot has changed in 38 years, but Aretha Franklin (1942-2018) will always be the Queen of Soul. Rolling Stone just ranked her #1 among the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. "Respect" is #1 on the 500 Best Songs of All Time list.
"Good night, sweet Queen. May flights of angels sing to thee in thy rest...." (Adapted from Act V, Scene 2 of "Hamlet").
The Summer of 1985 was AWESOME!! I was eight and I remember seeing this gem in heavy rotation on MTV☺!! What I like about this video, is that nearly everyone looks like they are having a great time!! I guess the Queen of Soul has that positive vibe on people.
true that!
Aretha brought positive vibe on folks since her 1967 smash "Respect" until her passing in 2018!! Everyone here in this video, as one of her other hits would say, Rock Steady!
Daniel, Her bands are so awesome and she puts you in the M-O-O-D!
I was born that year! 85! Yassss!! I was probably like 6 months old when this song came out. No wonder why I love this song so much! Hahaha
I was the same age. What a great time to grow up. The 80’s were awesome.
One of my favorite songs always... Rest in power Queen of Soul. 🙏🏽❤️
TokenEthnicGirl mine too
Is that John mellencamp in the end of the video!!
This is one of those songs, you wanna crank up when driving on your convertible down the boulevards!👌😎👍 Rip Aretha👋😥🕯you gave us great music!
All the way to Motor City.
@@rjjcms1hell yeah!👌😎✌️👍
I love her open handed gestures by her grinning face in this video.
Yes, especially at 0:24
a high priestess thing
I used to live down the street from Aretha in suburban Detroit, She was a wonderful person, no diva-dude about her at all. She was very gracious, very thoughtful, a fantastic cook and an incredible singer. I miss her so much and feel so privileged to have been one of her neighbors.
R-I-P To The Queen of Soul! My prayers are with the family. Sad,sad, day. U are on The Freeway to Home now 😔. My mom loved ur music, as well as I do!
Hi Dana, how are you doing
I'm 78 and Aretha still rocks!! #1!
No seat belt, over the speed limit and blaring this. I'm riding on the Freeway of Love. Rest in peace hon. You're the greatest
Hi Sophia ,hope you’re okay ?
Always love Aretha
Agreed: NO SEAT BELT !
I ended up once having to take a drive down the freeway of love. Weather was damp, cold, foggy, wet and miserable. I ended up in a 24 car pileup. Oh! the humanity.
@@davidtaylor524
SSL, but I'm well
Clarence Clemmons on sax, Aretha on vocals, does it get any better? No music today makes me want to get up and dance like this does.

RIP QWEEN OF SOUL
And Nareda Michael Walden on drums😉
Same
@@karenholt-ransom4917 Exactly😀🥁
This song makes me so happy, so much energy and upbeat. Calling Aretha as "The Queen of soul" is a sort of an understatement, she's one of the greatest vocalist, if not she's the greatest of all.
That's what soul music generally does. It's medicine.
yes she’s the greatest of all time.
@@Nonrelatable_t no one can do it better than Aretha Franklin the greatest queen ❤
She's so beautiful in this video...her hairstyle is flawless too

Add the Beatles that went solo careers still making great music from the 70s into the 80s.

Suddenly, in the oversaturated environment of 80s Pop, a new challenger appears: The Queen of Soul, showing everyone she could still be relevant.

Freeway of Love and Who's Zoomin' Who are not just two of my favorite 80s Aretha joints, but two of my favorite 80s joints period!
1985 was simply one of the best years of music ever! Across all genres it didn't matter. Great fun music from both long term artists and one hit wonders. Lady Soul and her album "Who's Zoomin' Who" delivered so many wonderful hits.
100% Agree with you !!!
PoxyBear my birth year Feb 85
Yayyy Into The Groove by Madonna is still a bop
If you like Ms. Ciccone, try on Sidewalk Talk by her producer....she does a vocal cameo....it is quintessential 80's synthesizers, bass lead, and groove......
The Bronx in the 80s the time of my life 57 and still the freeway of love

chris simpson nice thing to say 👍
chris simpson Amen
You can hear how Aretha just puts her spin on the song and it goes to a another level, it's a simple song but when Aretha sings it moves you!
She had that special quality for sure.
Lady Soul adds the spark. The song is a car and she drives it. She cruses along in mellow gear and then she "drops the pedal and goes."
Just can't get music like this in today's top 40. So thankful I grew up in the 80s. She was an amazing woman. 2022 and I will not give up my 80s music no matter who makes fun of me. Their loss who is with me? 😊❤
This is how you have a good time listening to the queen of soul

Hi 😌, how are you
I have my dad to thank for making sure I know about Aretha.
I thank him very much. All of her songs are AWESOME.
*_My grandmother "get down" to Ms. Retha baby!!!!..."Here we go",I love this song and I love her gift of voice._*
*_I thank The Creator for creating people like Ms.Retha because as a person in my 20's,I mainly listen to classic music like this!!!!...She is a real artist as opposed to the gimmicks of today._*
She truly has been blessed with a phenomenal voice. She's got to be one of my favorite singers. That's why I wish she would STOP PERFORMING! Everyone's voice ages along with their body. Her voice just isn't smooth anymore. It's gotten scratchy. Paul McCartney is another one who should stop and leave their legacy alone while it's still good.
sometimes the voice goes so gradually, it is hard for artists to be objective-fans lose their ears too -it all becomes nostalgia /myth My wife of 30+ yrs. is very beautiful,, is it all an illusion?peace
Tim Mullens you are a genuis
