9 years late to your comment but there's a ton of similarities/parallels between Joe and Protoman through both albums. Really brings the "first son of light" thing into question, huh.
I love how their second album has this kind of music in it, showing how Dr. Light is reflecting on the past. And then when he starts screaming, it seems he kind of snaps back to the present. SO GOOD-
"only the protomen could inject this much emotion into a jump and shoot game" that's because, they are the only ones who could create a beliveable storyline, and give the sons of Light and the other charicters a "Human" personality, each shows an aspect of humanity, Wily shows greed and ambition, Light and Proto show good intetions until they are betrayed by the people and thus grow mistrustful. Emily shows innocence, and almost always it are the innocent Who will die first, and mega shows innocence which is then succumbs to the cold reality that many are cowards. After he discovers this he shows sorrow that their fight, their drive had been in vain
Read the mega Man comics and the mangas there are tons of emotional moments in mega Man like Sparkman's death in the comics or everything about Skillman in that magans
@TheLevoyboy my interperatation is that after megaman decided to avenge his brothers death, he modified himself useing lights tools and original blueprints for protoman
I think that Light realized that the mistake he made with protoman was not giving him human emotion within his AI, which he did with Megaman. Of course, giving megaman complex emotion came with the price of not being able to say "Go do this", so he had to fabricate a way to make megaman assault Wily's fortress, and telling him the story of his brother did this for him. Also, Megaman couldn't be corrupted by Wily as easily as Protoman because of his complex emotions. But you know, that's me.
My sister will sing along to this on the walk home, finally actually listening to it for real. Let us just say she had WAY too much emotion in it. Both versions are good, but one is kinda funny. (My sister can't sing well)
@k2thereaper I felt the exact same way. I decided it was because he missed Protoman but why would he make Megaman with everything he needed in order to go and fight Dr Wily and then tell him that Dr Wily killed his brother? It seems like the kind of thing he would do if you WANTED him to go and fight Dr Wily.
@justinpadulamovies "You are all that I have left" is what is being said at 2:53. I'd suggest you read the lyrics that accompany the songs, because you're missing alot of non-audible actions if you aren't. You'll find it far more enjoyable.
@oars44 That comment I made was kind of me being ignorant to the story. What actually happened is quite justified. He made Megaman without even thinking about it, it was just his hands moving on their own the day Protoman died and the next thing he knew it was a few years later and he had Megaman.
@JoaoArthurAvzaradel the only one i thought was a bit hard to understand was when he yelled out "you need to know, you are not him, this fights not yooouuuurs"
@kento369 Roll was created after Proto Man and Mega Man, so it's not hard to believe that at the time Light is telling all this to Mega Man he has yet to create Roll.
@lamfp I think you're statement is hilarious. And I see what you mean. For me it had the opposite effect. Their weirdness pumped me up even more. I love these guys.
Well, first time I heard that song I didn't even know it was about Megaman - I never played it, so yeah good old biblical story was the first thing that came to my mind.
"This fight's not yours!"
"Then I'll make it mine."
"You cannot win!"
"I have to win!"
Dr. Light telling Rock "You're not that guy, pal. You're not that guy."
2:53 "you are the only thing i have left" i think
After listening to Act II, you realize exactly how much Light has lost, and why Megaman is all he has left. And you just want to give him a hug.
I just realized that a lot of this song applies to both Protoman AND Joe.
9 years late to your comment but there's a ton of similarities/parallels between Joe and Protoman through both albums.
Really brings the "first son of light" thing into question, huh.
Joe?
Joe mama
i love how protoman whistle begins and ends this song
The whistle at the beginning is the tune from the latter part of Funeral For a Son in a different key.
I love how their second album has this kind of music in it, showing how Dr. Light is reflecting on the past. And then when he starts screaming, it seems he kind of snaps back to the present.
SO GOOD-
Listening for the first time: Jeez, keep your voice down old man. Listening after Act II The Father of Death: Scream it louder!
*Skullman
Is this told through the songs or another way? (Im new to Protomen)
Well put
@TheLevoyboy my interperatation is that after megaman decided to avenge his brothers death, he modified himself useing lights tools and original blueprints for protoman
Poor Protoman.
god... I've been listenning to the protomen, and this is by far one of their best songs.
where have the protomen been all my life?!?!
I think Light just has Angels playing electric guitars following him around. Or something.
Because he's just that tormented. (and badass)
God, just the eerie feeling of thinking that Protoman went down fighting to his VERY last breath, that is such a disturbing thought...
2:54 he says "You are all I have left". Figured I'd clarify things since some people didn't know what he was saying. :)
@DarkOne23456
Actually, only three of those were earless people.
The other one was a Met.
Using Wily's account.
And (Spoiler for those who haven't heard the whole album....)
How Protoman betrayed him, he understood why, but he still felt betrayed.
@justinpadulamovies "You are the only one I have left"
cant. stop. listening. help!
not yet anyway, perhaps in act 3 she will be the one to convince megaman to keep fighting
For those taking that the wrong way, it is saying a lot. I like all their songs a ton.
This song gives me goosebumps every single time I listen to it. I love it.
only because we've self engineered ourselves to be the most perfect livestock.
Only a genius could inject such a beautiful story to a jump-and-shoot game.
@Vulkuner
that explains my entire afternoon
Vocals sound quite a bit like John Fogerty in the more intense parts.
I saw them live in Gainesville, FL Halloween night 2007 I think. Was excellent. They play live well.
haha i get it though protemen rock and roll
@FostersNation very clever, sir ;)
I don't think she is in the storyline of the Protomen
Thank you Pandora for introducing me to this song!
This is surprisingly fantastic. Really quite an emotional tale as you tell it.
and based on what is described by the Protomen...it's even worse...!
There will be Light!
There will be LIGHT!
This might be favorite song from this act.
ineed
My sister will sing along to this on the walk home, finally actually listening to it for real. Let us just say she had WAY too much emotion in it. Both versions are good, but one is kinda funny.
(My sister can't sing well)
@smnoy23 Oh shit dude. You're right.
@PowercordTripper2 I was actually JUST doing that.
If i was megaman in this situation i would listen to Dr Light. have any of you played megaman games? that shit aint exactly easy!
if mega man doesnt fight, who will?
Act III?
took way too long for those lyrics to click in my head.
Father, I love you, BUT YOU ARE WRONG. My heart seeks VENGEANCE.
@k2thereaper
I felt the exact same way. I decided it was because he missed Protoman but why would he make Megaman with everything he needed in order to go and fight Dr Wily and then tell him that Dr Wily killed his brother? It seems like the kind of thing he would do if you WANTED him to go and fight Dr Wily.
Hair standing on end.

Then we'll fight in shade.
Don’t mind me I’m just marking my favorite part of each song
2:53 - 3:23
@oars44 That comment I made was kind of me being ignorant to the story. What actually happened is quite justified. He made Megaman without even thinking about it, it was just his hands moving on their own the day Protoman died and the next thing he knew it was a few years later and he had Megaman.
@k2thereaper It's very common for people who have just lost a child to immediately have another baby. There is a term for this but I can't remember
@JoaoArthurAvzaradel the only one i thought was a bit hard to understand was when he yelled out "you need to know, you are not him, this fights not yooouuuurs"

@solar97hedgehog
Actually, that's just a whistle... Protoman's is longer and different. The spirit is there, though...
@BackdoorSub7 If you like this then you should hear "The Hounds" from their other album. It's my favorite out of all of them.
yes, sung to megaman to tell him the story of his brother, the one that died for mankind, the protoman
This is Unrest in the House of Inafune now
i'm kind of dissapointed no one realised you where being sarcastic
She doesn't exist in this continuity...yet.
2:48 i will keep greiving for the son i sent to death
2:53 you are afgyhujkogafgjlk
awesome song but that's the only part i cant understand
You are all I have left
It's "You are all that I have left".
This song fucking rocks.
Are.... are you high?
this is great
Badass.
Well, first time I heard that song I didn't even know it was about Megaman - I never played it, so yeah good old biblical story was the first thing that came to my mind.
YOU CANNOT RUN!
*win
But it's a song about Protoman. Protoman isn't jesus. If there was a jesus, he probably wasn't a robot. Probably.
In my headcanon it's a song about Jesus.
Protoman is better than Jesus
