HBH - OPENING MEET at Ramsholt

Hi everyone - after a very tricky couple of weeks where our opening meet was rescheduled twice because of insanely wet weather, we were finally able to get out again after some very kind landowners invited us back to Ramsholt. I really love hunting here, it's beautiful scenery and the ground is always pretty good - the fact that it's still so wet and soggy there when it's on sandy soil just shows how badly we've had it in the last couple of weeks.
Today we had some optional jumps and I wasn't actually planning on doing any of them - Dobi is almost 21 years old and not the most reliable jumper if it's something he hasn't seen before. However, he was incredible and sailed over everything I pointed him at first time. He did get UNBELIEVABLY strong in the second and third lines, which is probably because of a combination of factors: we haven't hunted since the 29th of October because meets had to be cancelled, he was clipped yesterday because he was getting so sweaty and now that the nights are drawing in I haven't been able to ride him after work for more than 20 minutes before it gets dark. Usually I would take him in our floodlit arena but it's been unavailable as it's being completely renovated, so he really hasn't done much this week. Hopefully next time we go out we'll have a little more control! Otherwise we might have to rethink his feeding routine!
