I don't ride but I absolutely love these videos, it feels so thrilling just watching from the camera, I can't imagine how fun it is in person. Thank you for sharing these special days with us :)
I take my I take my Irish cob hunting it is great everyone stares at her because they all think she won’t even make it halfway through and then she is like a machine over the jumps
Tonic is happy and healthy - I am just using this opportunity to exercise some other horses when my family is away. Tonic will have a long season ahead of him so do not have to get him too fit to begin with! He will be out as soon as it turns 11am!
Love you videos Monty. The countryside looks so fabulous for riding. Not as good here in Australia, at least not where I go! I'm a bit behind so I'll now have a bit of a binge watch. Thanks again for sharing! xo
Hello, i enjoy these kind if videos but i am new, so if you find time could you explane your grid, stik thingy in the hand and what your a doing. Lots of love❤
Was this more of a training exercise for young hounds that have recently joined the pack? I got the impression at times that the participants were involved in directing stragglers back to the main pack. Always enjoy your content Monty.
@@chestercroft8141 You obviously are more knowledgeable than me. Cubbing to me suggests activity relating to young foxes rather than young dogs (I do know that they haven't hunted foxes for years)
Yes, you're absolutely right. Autumn hunting primarily serves as a training exercise for young hounds, allowing them to learn from experienced ones as they follow the huntsman's calls. It also helps gradually improve the older hounds' fitness while occasionally guiding stragglers back to the main pack. Thank you for the support, Monte!!
We're not cubbing, and we follow a trail laid behind each cover to ensure adherence to legal guidelines. The exercise aims to teach young hounds hunting skills by tracking the scent and following the older, experienced hounds. It may appear disjointed at times, but it's a methodical approach to gradually prepare the younger hounds for the main hunting season. Thank you for watching!!
I always forget the UK hunt season is a bit different than how its done in my country of Canada ours starts in May and sometimes goes to November but if it snows which it usually does they end in September ice and horses do not mix well. I'm sure it does cold in the Uk but your autumn weather looks quite nice to me.
Red means it kicks. Green is a young or 'green' horse so try not to gallop past or get too close behind approaching jumps they may stop at due to distraction and inexperience...red on the head means biter or stallion.
they're called couples - useful if you have a hound that is not cooperating. They act like a collar so you can attach them to another hound, or clip on a lead.
I appreciate this new video, but your way of hunting is confusing me. In my area in Germany each field (jumpers/non jumpers) is led by a field master. He knows the track and each rider has to try to keep in his/her position in the chosen field. The master and his team with the hounds are always up front. Each leg the fields are changing so that each group has the chance to ride directly behind the hounds. Could you explain if you’ll find the time 😉🤗👍🏻
We do have a field master, but my intention was to closely follow the hounds to ensure they remained safely away from the roads. While it might not have been evident in the video (something I realised when reviewing it), I'm quite familiar with the country and knew that I wouldn't encounter any issues by advancing ahead of the hounds (maintaining a safe distance, and never crossing in front of them!) I appreciate your understanding that autumn hunting allows for more flexibility than when we start later in the day. Thank you for your question, Monte
I love how you compliment her and she is such a calm girl. Thanks for sharing.
Lourdes is gorgeous! I loved the snap to tack her up. Thank you for your videos.

It is fun. Very challenging. My happiest days are on the hunt field. Me & my horse. My love, my world.
I’d love to hear the hounds in full voice again!

That was a lot of hounds! Seems like a real job keeping track of them all. Lourdes was a good girl, thanks for taking us along for the ride.
It was nice to meet Lourdes. You have such a nice bunch of horses to ride.
Whatching the hounds come out was so funny 😂 couldt stand that racket for the entire journey tho
Loved the video and the hounds coming out of the horsebox. I actually knew from the beginning of the video we the viewers were in for a treat ❤
Good morning,
Where’s Tonic? My goodness what a beautiful horse ame down before the hounds.

Weird I never got a notification?. Glad I looked . I'm on my first week of farrier science course

It was cubbing so yeah

@@msgpoloeventing Thank you for taking the time to reply, Monte. I look forward to seeing you developing your partnership with Truffle.
@@msgpoloeventing alas put perfectly! 👍
are you going to be hunting tonic soon x
I don't understand, are you cubbing and what scent are you following? There seems to be no flow in the hunt. What is the exercise hoping to achieve?

Ours go from Oct to April in the states. At least ours does.
I love watching your Drag and Trail videos but this looks like actual Hunting live Prey??
I thought that's banned in England?
It's illegal in England. Pretty sure they're not hunting live prey. There's an answer below to another question that would clarify for you.
As someone not familiar with hunting, what do the green and red ribbons on some of the horses’ tails mean? Or are they just decorative?
Red means it kicks. Green is a young or 'green' horse so try not to gallop past or get too close behind approaching jumps they may stop at due to distraction and inexperience...red on the head means biter or stallion.
What is attached to the hunt staff saddles at the back? Thanks

You may have said in the video and I just missed it but who do you hunt with? ❤
Did he ask you to take them that way?

Lourdes saddle looked small - but it is not a racing saddle as that is even smaller. What kind of saddle is it?
It’s a general purpose (GP) saddle.
@@saraeb59 Thanks for your reply, i just thought it looked really small for a GP saddle.
Looks like a regular forward seat jumping saddle. But they come in seat sizes. Mine is 16inch. A smaller size.
@@equine2020 Thank for the smaller seat size eplanation
My God, they just let you race across their fields in the mud and everything and tear the fields up
Depends on the landowner. Our hunt asked permission.
💚🍀🇮🇪👍
Love these videos but the way he brushes her tail makes me cringe
