HBH - Ladies Day at Broxted Estate
Our first Ladies Day and it was absolutely lovely. We started off with a delicious breakfast in the Gun Room and lots of drinks, did three fab lines on perfect ground in the most gorgeous weather and finished with the famous Hamilton Bloodhounds hunt tea - dozens of cakes, sandwiches and other goodies. Dobi was in a roaring mood today and tanked me round the entire meet, jumping several of the fences that I was convinced he would take offence to. What a great day, and the perfect penultimate meet of the season.

Hey guys, here is this week's meet. It's our official Closing Meet, although we have Ladies Day next Wednesday and an extra "Bye Day" on the 1st of April. I chose not to take the jumping routes today as the ground is still questionable in a lot of places after so much bad weather and Dobi isn't young anymore. We still had a lot of fun and got some good fast runs in. Enjoy!

Hi all - another day, another load of rain that's been dumped on us... This was a very very wet meet; it started raining the night before and didn't stop all day. We were all soaked by the end. You'll notice that I made one attempt to jump and when Dobi said "no thanks" I didn't push the issue. The ground was very deep and slippery and I didn't think it was worth inviting an accident by insisti...

I didn't think we would be able to hunt this week - as well as having even MORE rain, I was out in the horsebox yesterday and the gearbox exploded! Luckily it happened just as I got to the destination so we were in a safe area and the pony I was carrying was safely recovered and taken home. My horsebox has been taken to my mechanic and I'm really hoping it'll be back up and running quickly! My ...

Hi everyone, you didn't have to wait so long between videos this time! After a blissful period of dry weather, the rain was back with a bang - we had something like 30mm of rainfall overnight on Saturday. I was convince that Sunday's meet would have to be cancelled, but luckily the Paul family were very generous and still allowed us to come. The lines had to be changed as some parts were litera...

Well, it's been a while hasn't it! Today was our first time back out on the hunt field since opening meet in November, for several reasons: firstly, Dobi's behaviour on the second and third lines was slightly concerning (actually, terrifying!). Secondly, the weather has been absolutely horrendous and wet, meaning that when meets weren't having to be cancelled, the going was very deep which I di...

Hi everyone - after a very tricky couple of weeks where our opening meet was rescheduled twice because of insanely wet weather, we were finally able to get out again after some very kind landowners invited us back to Ramsholt. Hey everyone, we were finally back out today after several cancelled meets. Unfortunately my little area of Suffolk has been hit by the worst flooding I have seen in my 31 years - the hunt kennels were literally under 2ft of water and literally everywhere is waterlogged. Hey everyone, here's this week's footage from our early morning meet at Falkenham. Early mornings are for hound training and horse and hound fitness, so we only did one line which totalled about 3 miles. We also had some couples of puppies out with us for the first time, and as it was warm today a couple of them were flagging by the end. But they all hunted the scent well in tricky conditions, ...

    Why are the horses plaited to headache, migraine and then expected to put up with tight births, saddles, bridles engineered to cause pain for your "brakes ", how is that a good ride for the poor horses?

    • @ChloePrice92
      @ChloePrice92 4 місяці тому

      Plaiting doesn’t cause a “headache”, it doesn’t hurt the horse in the slightest. My horse has custom fitted tack which is checked by professionals multiple times a year. He has a massage appointment every 5 weeks, chiro every 6 weeks and a daily massage pad and gun session. He absolutely adores hunting and pulls my arms out the entire way round, then wants to go again. He loves his job, he’s happy and has never been fitter or healthier since we started going regularly. We absolutely live for our horses. Dobi is my child. And he loves galloping across the countryside following hounds - you can see that his ears are pricked the entire time. Please don’t bring your ignorance and negativity here.

    Why are you killing hares ??

    • @ChloePrice92
      @ChloePrice92 4 місяці тому

      No one is killing hares. This is a clean boot hunt, we chase a human scent. Bloodhounds are not trained on any animal scents. The hares popped up and were promptly ignored by the hounds. Hunting live animal quarry with hounds has been banned since 2004. I would suggest you go look up our pack's website (The Hamilton Bloodhounds) and read about what we do. Or alternatively you could go onto the Norfolk and Suffolk Hunt Sabs page and see that they recommend us specifically as we are a no-kill pack.

      We had 7 hare pop up on that field - hare will sit perfectly still until something spooks them and then they will run. Most of the hounds ignore them as bloodhounds are never trained on animal scents, we had a couple of pups out with us who sometimes get curious - that's why we have the whips who work with the huntsman to keep them on track if needed. Plus bloodhounds far too slow to get anywhere near a hare in escape mode!

      Oh dear. Did we watch the same video? The hounds are clearly Bloodhounds. I watched diligently and saw the hounds greet the runners. So it was definitely Bloodhounds pursuing runners that they greeted happily when they caught up. So definitely clean boot hunting. Out of curiosity, genuine curiosity, once you had observed that the hounds were Bloodhounds, why did you think they were doing anything other than a clean boot hunt? What other activity did you think you were watching? Please tell me.

    American here, I'm always so curious about these events! What happens if you/the horse needs water? Are there restrooms or rest points along the way or is it one long ride and then you're done?

    • @ChloePrice92
      @ChloePrice92 Рік тому

      So the meet is split into “lines”, which are pre-laid scent trails. At the end of each line we have a break of 15 minutes or so for the horses and hounds to recover, and there’s always water available there. There are also a lot of people who follow in vehicles and meet the riders there, some bring drinks/snacks (usually port and chocolate!). The hunt season runs from September-March so it’s never particularly hot or humid, and the horses cope really well. Usually better than the riders! There usually aren’t toilets available as the breaks are in the middle of the countryside, but I’m sure if someone is desperate they could pop behind a bush 😅
