Day 62 - Blue Ridge Parkway to Lexington, VA

- Today's ride includes one of the most dreaded hills on the entire Trans Am Bike Route. Lucky me, it will be a steeply graded 4,000 ft descent into the town of Vesuvius. I pulled over twice to let my disc brake rotors cool on the way down. Again today, I can feel the wildfire smoke in my throat and my eyes are burning. In fact, today I could actually smell the smoke. This smoke is from wildfires burning in Alberta, Canada - really crazy! I started the ride at the Loveridge Campground in Love, VA, and rode over the Blue Ridge mountains.

Beautiful but dangerous. Glad you’re safe. I deal with so much pain in my foot but when I watch your videos it helps me to smile and relax. I pray someday soon I can get back on my trike. You are an inspiration.God bless.

Flaming brakes sounds scary. Good you made it safely. I am running drum brakes which should be not as prone to overheating.
The velo guys all use drum brakes, too.
