- On almost every eviction there are complaints about maintenance not doing their jobs. On this eviction, one of the maintenance men is doing the setout and he agrees with the tenant. Evictions aren't funny, but this was funny.

They lived there for Years and complaining about mold and power sockets. She is on Section 8 and Welfare and only paying $500 rent for a whole house and still not paying the rent. Two grown boys in the house also living free. Just shameful.

Mold is extremely unhealthy!!!! There are slumlords as well as bad tenants. Those landlords charge low rents but the tradeoff is living in deplorable conditions. Rents in decent places are unaffordable.

Tenants seem to not realize when you are behind on rent landlords won't fix anything. Fail to report income will lead to termination in the section 8 program. I thank the most high blessing me to get off that type of system.

@debbie4503 some people can't if it's connected to the alarm system like mine. It will call the police/fire dept. Not sure if that's their case though.
These people always:
1) Point out all the things wrong with the home/landlord won’t fix in the home but only get out upon an eviction.
2) Ignore the annoying smoke detector beeps in the home.
3) Have a darn animal when they can’t even keep a home for themselves.
If they don’t pay rent, then why don’t they have money and when do they realize if you don’t pay, you can’t stay??

If she's on section 8, she can find a better place to live. Holes in the floor, mold and critters didn't become a problem overnight! Something doesn't jive because if she still has section 8, even if her income is high enough that she doesn't get a subsidy, they still do inspections because the house has to qualify.

Some people don’t want better if it means a different neighborhood altogether. They want to be able to deal just how they’re dealing in the hood with the connections they’re already familiar with.
She will have a hard time qualifying for section 8 with an eviction on her record
If there’s no subsidy, wouldn’t that mean she’s not on S8? If her income is too high, she doesn’t qualify, right?

Just like these tenants have a history of not paying rent, some of these property management companies have a history of renting out homes that are basically uninhabitable and siphoning the section 8 system. I hope this lady finds something nicer and safe.

Yes one thing about section 8 the problem that she having all she had to do was tell section 8 and she said mold thy would've sent out someone in 24hr landlord wouldn't get his money but she have to pay her part no matter what

Years ago we had a place for rent a one bedroom. One unit in a duplex. A woman on section 8 showed up with three kids. Immediately they started running around screaming. A nightmare waiting to happen.

If she doesn’t keep the house in order or clean, the chances of her reporting things to be fixed go down because she doesn’t want the landlord to see the mess she has made on the property. Also, she won’t report any things to be fixed if she has more people living in the house that shouldn’t be there. She put up with this for 8 years, I think it more on her than a slumlord.

Othniel, you should invest in some dollies and such so that your workers can work smarter and quicker. That way you can do more evictions in a day.
I had my alarm go off once nd I changed it fast. I couldn’t sleep or watch tv. My ocd was not having. I hope they find a safe place to go

PS I am 73 and the Ramsey Co MN Court reschedules hearings and forgets to sent reschedule notices only to defendants in codes court and child support I know from experience. My nephews wife took previously filed divorce papers with names and dates whited out and submitted them with names and dates written in with pan. Court Docket and they took it and never notified him of his hearing but then wifey was still living at home and got the mail first. Incredible.

If the house has been that bad for that long, she should have been moved out. Complaints always pour in during eviction, but it was good enough to live in for years. Why stay??
But ultimately, the renters have only themselves to blame. If they weren't paying rent, that money could have been set aside for a new place. If you withhold rent due to maintenance issues, you have to save that rent in escrow or a bank account in order to pay later when issues resolved. This money ìs still due and can help in negotiations. 😊

There is a thing called escrow if the landlord not doing stuff right?
The tenant said she liked the price and that's why she hadn't moved. Well if an investor with some capital bought the place and fixed it up the right way you'd be out of it once they raised the rent to re-coup their money back. Tenants like this always want stuff repaired but don't want to pay the increased rent that goes along with having a well maintained property.
Repairs and upgrades are not the same.
If the landlord wants to charge $500 that's his decision but a tenant should not have to live with mold, bugs, rodents, floors and doors that are unsafe.
Low income does not make you less deserving than the wealthy.
@t.r.1503 Why did they move into a place that needed extensive repairs in the first place? Because it didn't have those issues until those tenants moved in and caused most of them. The brokest tenants cause the most issues and demand the most.

Its the landlord job to fix issues. If they don't want to be responsible, then don't be a landlord or put in the lease what they want to be responsible for.
If they don't want them there, sue for eviction and just because you're broke doesn't mean that you should have to live like that.
