Blessings to you. I lived in my car for 49 days and I was about 52 years old. Anyway, what I learned is this... I stopped saying, today is the last day in my car...instead everyday I would ask, God can I get out of this situation today? But hear this, about a week later my phone rang and it was a job offer in another town. I already had a job and I had never applied for the job that was calling. The lady said to me, I heard about you through a friend and I desperately need a cleaning contractor. I'm shocked.😱 I told her that I would have to find somewhere to live, she said, no you won't, an apartment comes with the job. That was in 2015 and I'm still here. So I said that to say this. Ask God because then he knows that you are truly depending on him. I love you and I'm praying with you.

Hello. Your video popped up in my feed and I decided to watch as myself and my sister had been homeless living in my car 6 months over the last brutal winter (-15 below) in the Chicago suburban area.
I have a Hyundai, a compact car, but my sister managed to create a living room of the front seats and adjustable bedroom/office of the passenger and back seats. The trunk was well organized for small but ample changes of clothing, food, water, and toiletries. Oh, and did I mention we had a pet at the time as well? The car ran 24/7 with heat continuously going due to the season, and we had a structured schedule that kept us occupied with routines and things to do every day which even included movie nights on the phone and other free recreations.
We are both seniors in our mid 60's with disabilities so we also joined the gym to make the best of taking care of our health, fitness, and hygiene. I was the only one with a small source of disability income until my sister was able to start her retirement income earlier than planned.
During the spring, we were able to get into a small one bedroom apartment in a fairly nice location (not very extravagant but reasonable rent) that didn't require the crazy 3 month income amount - so I know what you mean there.
Looking back now, I can't recall feeling like we suffered - even so much as I know we did, but we just don't see it. For that matter, the only utility we now pay is electric - gas and water are provided!! When we reflect back, we see all the Blessings throughout this journey. It's not easy, by any means! Feeling trapped and frustrated is definitely a reality that comes during a struggle like this.
I remember one night we spent at a gas station and feeling down. There was a young girl there, she looked to be in her early 20's. She sat against a wall sleeping on the ground in 20 degree weather. How could I keep feeling bad for myself/us!?
Through it all, even in times of fear, I trust GOD
If it's ok with you, I'd like to encourage you to continue to stay strong as you will be Blessed with Spiritual and Human strength beyond measure for this is only temporary. I know it's hard, it's even wearing your body. We had back and leg discomforts until we became more physically active - especially in the gym. We've even lost weight and keeping good eating habits that we began to follow during that time. In time, the amount of your income from work will be the least of your worries because FAITH will bring you through and you'll see the richness you've had all along.
As it pertains to safety and privacy, please consider having your windows tinted. It was the one thing we didn't have that I still intend to do as a "just in case."
Oooooh, and last but not least:
We strongly thought to invest in an RV at one point as well - but so happy we didn't!!!
They are a lot to maintain - more than you hear about from influencers.
Structures, fixtures, general items bouncing or breaking while in motion
Cost of keeping it fueled - type of fuel
Keeping electricals functioning - battery power when RV not running/solar power on non sunny days
Restricted from certain roads depending on classification - and in some cases time of day or night
Parking restrictions - many places that allowed 24hr parking have changed
    Insurance coverage
Tanks - water tanks, dump tanks and where you can refill or dump
Cleaning - smell from bathroom waste, smell from food waste
Leveling - more important than people realize
    Lack of stealth
This isn't to discourage you, but to give you some insight to why we decided against an RV or conversion van.
We have concluded that we would live out of a car or SUV if we ever faced this circumstance again.
We hope the best to you!

I know a young couple in their 20s living in their car through the winter with the car running heat through the night but they had the windows up. They were both found dead because of a small leak of carbon monoxide that was coming into the car. Apparently if it's a really small leak you can't smell it and it is known as a silent killer while your in a deep sleep. I would recommend always leaving all windows cracked.

I disagree with your RV or conversion van comments, as you said you never had one, so how do you know? the trick is to don't use the tanks, so you don't need to dump the tanks that much, same with the water don't use unless you have too, I kept about 3 to 4 cases of bottle water in my RV, Oh! and you can find one of those cheap hotels😬 to stay at for 2 or 3 night😏

Praying for her too. For women being homeless is pure torture. And usually there isn't enough room to live especially in a car. I watched videos where they took mini vans and vans and trucks and turned them into campers. Something to consider. We live in government housing in this town where we live currently and it's been our home for over 10 years but to be honest there isn't a lot here and so many homeless and so many hating on those people which is really horrible. I hope these people on the streets and in vehicles can get up and out from being trapped/stuck. I don't have a van anymore because the transmission went out and I had to scrap it/auction people came and got it. I cried like a baby because we needed it to move, for shopping especially groceries. This past 1.5 years have been better but also a serious adjustment having to learn to ride the bus, I bike mostly and we walk. Daughter is 17 and works and she finally lucked up and rides with friends but many times she has to Uber and Lyft and many times they cancel, don't show up or leave early. The bus system here is constantly having buses go down as well and there have been times we had to walk or were stuck until we could call them to come get us or ask them what to do. We had like 7 buses or so I think but the past few years since C19 they lowered it down to 4 buses and built a garage for the buses and now that money should have been put back into the mini vans/buses themselves. Katz is good here but many times down or running late. It's been alot to deal with being physically disabled plus the moving here by ourselves which was hard and both of us were injured. I keep hoping and praying we can get another car but honestly I am 53 and feeling lost and stuck myself in life. I had to learn to take it a day at a time and try not to dwell on the bad stuff and find other ways to adjust. I have done well and so has my daughter but its still very hard trying to shop, do laundry and we have to stay in town or call the TennCare van for appointments. Sending hugs, love and respect to this lady. Being homeless is the worst and I have been there more than once. May she be blessed and so may everyone else who is struggling.

Yes it's gross but it's fast survival money. Like you'll get hired within 1wk. After you get 6mth experience you'll get hired same day of looking.
You can do it. Then go down to 3-4 days to maintain. You can get a CNA licence in 3 days in some places. Pay is like $20+/hr. Good luck

CNA is a start and could instantly change her circumstances. You're right it is tough on the body but manageable until she figures out her next move.

I agree with previous comments. Consider upgrading your vehicle for a van, rather than a camper so you can live stealthily. There are so many video tutorials on how to "furnish" a van for little $$. A van would allow you more space to spread out & would give you a space to cook with a small bottled gas camping stove. You don't need plumbing to have a washbasin, a simple bowl and bottled water can suffice, water can be disposed off out of the van. You can have a small camping toilet, for those nightly emergencies, you can use solar lights and battery lights. You can purchase a small camping fridge/freezer. Most importantly, you will be independent and saving $$. You could "treat" yourself to renting a cheap room for a night or two maybe once a month, to give you a break & something to look forward to.
Your situation is not ideal as far as the norms we have been conditioned to believe in, but instead of limiting your options to the "norm" of renting an apartment or a house, maybe consider other "norms" that will benefit you better in the long term?
Having a space you can enjoy decorating, planning and fitting out could be cathartic, give you a purpose and something to keep your mind busy and positive. Watching others on UA-cam highlighting real solutions to real van life problems, using your home on wheels to your advantage to find free items left outside homes that you can put to good use etc.
The reality is, that there is a whole new generation of young people, middle aged people and seniors, all over the world, in the UK, in Europe, in the US, whose only option for living independently is van living. However, in this age of solar power and so many amazing camp living options, people are discovering that apart from the lack of space, living in a van does not mean having to go without heat, lights, water, toilets, cooking, etc. Instead of working to pay bills and rent and unable to afford to enjoy life, people are choosing to accept the limited space and work to LIVE life instead. Travelling in their "home" when they are not working, saving $$ from not paying extortionate rent costs and utility bills. Changing one's mindset, can sometimes be the difference between feeling low and miserable or feeling liberated and free from the ties of slum landlords and the stress of affording the bills.
AND just think about all those $$$ you will save!! Make a home on wheels that you can be proud of, a home that people will envy, a home you enjoy spending time in.
I just Sub'd, I'm looking froward to watching your channel grow, good luck.

I know you mean well but none of us deserve anything from God except condemnation and separation because of Adam's legacy. Except for unmerited grace, through Christ, everything from God is a gift, not something you earned. If you don't know that then you, by default, devalue His awesome mercy and grace. I don't believe you really want to do that.

@@vetgirl71 Greetings. I appreciate your responding to my post.
At no point in my post did I judge her heart or motives. It is in fact a caring and loving gesture to tell the truth or to encourage someone to question their own motives if you, as a friend or neighbor, have a perspective you believe they don't have. If you're standing in the middle of oncoming traffic and someone says "I think it's possible that you've made a mistake in choosing where to stand." is that unloving? If there's a car coming and you yell at them to move... is that being disrespectful? To another bystander who doesn't see what you see, it could well look disrespectful, unkind and rude but in reality be something to save someone's life.
You made reference to my possibly being a "Christian". Do you know about the scriptures that say if you find your brother/sister on a wrong path that you should lovingly and respectfully correct them? It's up to them whether they heed your advice or not. Same with this young lady. I was completely respectful in my comment. Do you think Jesus was being un-Christ-like when He rebuked Peter? How about when Paul rebuked Peter for being a hypocrite?
In all honesty, I have a feeling that this young lady has fallen victim to the over--feminized notion that at no point should she embrace constructive criticism, conviction, rebuke or correction and that all she should receive is "God bless you baby,, It'll be alright, God's got you, be strong... so on and so forth, a bunch of flowery, psuedo-pious platitudes to make her feel good while she's going down a path that isn't supported by any example of Spirit-led women in scripture.
I've lived long enough to have seen many young women make decisions they thought were good, in the sincerity of their heart, but they were misled and suffered needlessly, except to learn a lesson, if they learned. Blessings to YOU! I pray that you won't be one of those young ladies.

Go with a van ... It does give you more room and it's much easier to maintain. I understand you wholeheartedly. I was displaced for about a year. I was a plus size woman with a job, but I was not making enough money to get an apartment. Apartment. Especially with the criteria saying that you have to make three times the rent plus have first and last month's rent and a deposit which is ridiculous. I had to live with people as well and slept in my car a couple of nights. But I can assure you it's a lesson that you need to learn through all of this and when God blessed me, he blessed me abundantly. I was able to get a new job, a new place as well as a new car all at the same time. Stay diligently in prayer and walk the path that God has for you. He does answer prayers. Walk by faith and not by sight and you will see. Be blessed and always be a blessing

Or relaxation in the car. #1. Slide the driver seat and the front passenger seat forward towards the dashboard.
#2 then take the headrest off of the top of the front passenger seat.
#3 now, let the front passenger seat, lay back on to the back seat behind it.
#4 now get into the back of the car behind the driver seat.
#5 if need be till the back of the driver, seat forward to give you room to raise your legs over on to the passenger seat that is now laying down.
#6 get creative use pillows, folded clothes. Or whatever else it takes to make your life comfortable. I hope this helps.

I hear you… I’m in the same position. I’ve worked in the legal field for over 30 years and still do and yet I don’t make enough money to afford the rent at triple income to the rent amount. I’ve been in my car for over a year now in the horrific heat of the summer and the pretty cold temperatures in the winter. I find myself crying a lot and talking to God a lot and being confused because I don’t understand. Prior to my rent becoming more than I could handle anymore because they kept raising it for a 385 square-foot apartment, I had never been late on a payment and had been a good tenant supporting my community and also keeping out of other people‘s business. I never gave any landlord any problem whatsoever. I too have children that are grown. Even though I love them dearly, I do not understand how they can feel OK about this situation and the fact that I’ve always been there for them and have told them repeatedly when I had my apartment on my house at one time before I decided to downsize into an apartment, that I would always be there for them, and they had a place to be if they ran into a problem. And yet I’m in my car for over a year it appears that they’re OK with that. Though I do not believe that children have an obligation to take care of their parents, this situation seems to fly in the face of everything my children would ever talk by myself or by our religious community/church and it’s teaching about caring for your family. That is what it is. The only thing I can say is that every day I am so grateful that I have my car. I watch people every day who don’t even have that. I try and I try, like you do, to figure out how to work this out so that I have a roof over my head in the form of an apartment home, and I can’t find a way. Jobs are getting harder to come by to suck on that income and yet I make a good income when my client can pay, but that is unstable in the current economy. I feel for you so very much. I too have to sleep in the driver seat every night. Over the course of the year I have finally figured out how to have hot food occasionally, but even food is getting to be Difficult because the money isn’t there regularly and when you’re in your car, you also have to cost of gas that can be very pricey at times when you have to move around all the time. Even to rent a room in someone’s home that they’re trying to make additional income with, is going for over $1000 a month Where I’m living and that is with no private bathroom and it’s just a 10 x 8 or 10 x 10 room. And my concern on that is always what if they decide they just don’t wanna rent the room anymore and I’m back to where I started. I do not understand things today in the world… It’s not how I grew up. I don’t know the answer. But I hold on very tightly to the fact that God in Jesus love me and they’re aware of me and you and they’ve got a plan and they’ve got a need for us being right where we are right now. And so I try to focus on how to make my life as good as I can and help other people that are suffering if all it is is a smile from me. I often think about Jesus‘s time on the Earth and the similarities between now and back then and sometimes I feel like one of the lepers. I hate that feeling just like I hate the feeling when I watch people driving ID going to their home where it’s warm and they have a bed and someone loves them most likely. I don’t know their story and it could be as bad as mine or yours, but my head always thinks of what they do have that they probably don’t even realize how valuable it is. Sweetheart, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. But I believe with my whole heart that one day we’re both gonna get home in Jesus is gonna look at us and say “ good and faithful servant.“ I will be thinking about you and I hope you’ll think about me in someday. we’ll see each other face-to-face and smile smile of knowing we are finally home that no one can take away from us.

Keep trying different roommates until you find one that works out well. And maybe an extended stay hotel for a week at a time. This is a safe environment. Even share one with a roommate. Praying for you, and know things will work out.

I came across your video, and I truly believe it wasn’t by chance, but by fate. I don’t often comment, but something about your words resonated with me deeply. I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone in your experience. My husband and I have experienced living in our car twice over the past 20 years due to the unpredictable nature of owning a business. Each time, it was for about a year and a half, but we always knew it was temporary because we refused to stay down with God by our side. There’s a reason your video showed up in my feed tonight. We want to help, even if it’s just by surrounding you with love and support. You are not alone. I also believe there may be options available to you. I’d love to connect and share our experience, and how we made it through.Sending you strength and support. ❤

@InBetweenBlessings always. Did you serve any time in the military? If yes, there are programs that help you get into an apartment.
