@@ancientfishing no, I hate the fact that bass eat mallard ducklings. What if the ducklings somehow managed to get to the pond where the bass and cat fishes are? But idk how far the pond is away from his house, because I'm new to this channel.
Since he's in Texas, that's actually a high possibly. They may not migrate because they weather is fine for them there. I guess if he feeds them regularly they'll probably stick around indefinitely.
They are so cute and I’m feel sad about their mommy was dead but it’s a good thing to take care of the babies and I hope they will grow bigger fast enough and then they’ve been free in the wild.
Don't forget these ducklings will need extreme guidance since they do not have a mother to learn and watch from.. Please do your due diligence and see what they need especially at this tender age. Sending lots of lovelovelove and encouragement!
Baby ducks are very cute, and a lot of work. When my son was in 4H, we raised khaki campbells, peking, and rouens every year. The rouens look like mallards.
Duckling zoomies are the best thing! I decided not to hatch any eggs this year but you are giving me major duckling fever ❤️ Fun fact: Before they are two weeks old, their oil glands aren't really up and running so they can get waterlogged. In the wild, the mom waterproofs them herself with her own preening gland.
It’s sad what happened to their mama, but I’m so glad a kindly soul like you were there to take them under your wing and protect them. I hope they’ll grow big and strong and be able to be released back into the wild.
Just when you think this channel cannot get any better, you're bringing ducklings into the mix. It's going to be awesome seeing them grow. Looking forward to the journey ahead.
Seriously, if your level of cuteness as a child provokes domesticated cats and humans to adopt you, that is batting 1000 with regards to the species that hunt for sport. BE CUTE OR BE EATEN!
What do you mean cross species? Because big cats, hyenas, wild dogs, and many other predators will frequently attack and eat cute young animals. And other species won't even try to protect the cute offspring of other species (usually). If they do protect young, it's only their own young (again, usually). That isn't evidence of "protect cute things" it's evidence of "protect my own offspring so our species can survive better" and not all animals even do that.
I'm sure she's quacking happily in the clouds because this kind soul took them in and hatched them. God Bless The Fish Whisperer, friend to all creatures, big and small!
You are correct. They even make a baby duck top water fishing lure for bass. I’m guessing he won’t put them in the pond until they’re a lot bigger. They probably grow pretty fast too. Big snapping turtles are known to pull ducks under the water as well.
Maybe he can make a new pond for the ducks. A small pond where he can give food to the ducks if they are in the water. And it doesn’t have the big bass and the gar
Ya, ducks need water with their food no matter what you're feeding them. They are so cute. looking forward to seeing them all grown up and at the ponds.
Navaeh MTA you are 100% correct on the baby ducks needing water to eat with. I have some baby mallards and they will get a mouth, I should say a beak full of food and bring it to the water bowl and drop it in. When they have enough food in the water they go to town on eating it all up. They are so cute and enjoyable to watch. Good call on the water...
The way they forage for food on their own, by pure instinct... Ducklings are known to be self- sufficient from the day they hatch, while most baby birds need their mom or- for some species- both parents to feed them. This makes ducks one of the greatest evolutionary success stories. Ducks are awesome!
YES. I love bird content! We've got Edgar the Egret and now we have these little mallards! These are the luckiest ducklings in the world. So ecstatic you're taking care of them!!
The best part; even if they instinctively follow after and join a flock of ducks to migrate, they’ll always recognize your ponds as a safe place, and will probably come back with friends! Maybe even mate and lay there.
@@adonis9322 Yes, but that’s just nature. Those tadpoles he put in his ponds will become frogs, along with the eggs a few frogs that found their way there laid. The gar will eat some of those frogs. If any of those turtles have babies, the gar could eat those, too. In fact, an eagle might eat one of his gar, once they’re in the ponds; or one of his catfish or bass friends in the other pond. That’s the risk you take when your “pets” are merely wild animals you’ve tamed and befriended. Nature calls.
I use to work at a hotel swimming pool with small streams and we had wild mallard ducks there and also in front of hotel with a waterfall. A mama duck got hit by a car. They brought the baby ducks in back in hopes that a mama duck would take care of them. She excepted them. It was so cool to see mama duck fallowed by all the baby ducks total of 16 baby ducks.
