This side story has the best fight scene in the game
Yeah, the side story bosses are really fun. Also provides good information oh how each character ended up where they did when you reunite with them.

We need an actual friendly monster party member in a future mainline game.
I think DQ4 does that if I'm not mistaken.
@@christianlopez707 The Remake of Dragon Quest 6 on the DS has some friendly Monsters that can be used as party members as well.
@@christianlopez707 Yea, you get a healslime named "Healie" in Ragnar's chapter, & the Heroes spin-offs also had a playable slime named Healix. There are some other instances of recruiting monsters - DQ5 does it to an extent, plus you've got a sabertooth tiger companion
Play Dragon Quest V, then
Dragon warrior monsters and dragon quest monsters is just monster party members. I learned about dragon quest back in 2000 thanks to dragon warrior monsters for game boy color.

It the think the Seer knew the Luminary had the power to restore his memories. After all, the Seer did know of of the past Luminary as well.

Erik doesn't need to get an OP power from the Seer
He has those on the skill tree and he only needs 3 Seeds to max it out

I love how it's an exact callback to Ragnar's story, from the healslime to the music
Definately was a massive nostalgia trip.
Apparently this takes place before Dragon Quest III, so...
Ragnar is from IV, which is a different trilogy so it's not a "callforward"

Erik's slime buddy is freaking adorable! Probably my favorite voice acting in the game. Wish you could actually recruit that little guy into your full time party!

When Erik lost his memories I felt sad because of the bond he and the player had since the beginning of the game
I’m writing a fanfic and my main oc is so depressed when talking about him lmao
I cried so hard when I played till the last scene of the Erik's bonus story.....
(And then everything is messed up when you have finally figured out who the hell is this adorable cutely little slime was......... )
I gotta admit, I am LOVING the new solo character content! They obviously put a lot of love into the making of it!
Yeah...that's why it hurt so much more, when the MC time traveled and so all this never really happened
@@mco7478 at least the citizens of Erdrea doesn't lose their lives. For example the couple in Arboria lost their baby the moment Ygdrassil fell, or the girl that you help getting the tree seeds that let her wish for her good health and like dozens others (the husband from Cobblestone, the lone girl who's family all perish, the Jargon whom father became crazy due to Mordregon's rise. etc etc)

I love this extra story so much I cried when Erik beat up everyone, the choreo is so epic

DQXI-S feels more like a TV series than a game. Toei would make a good choice for animating this game

Shame you can't come back here after you get the flute, they even teased another floor. I had originally run straight to the battleground after getting the flute thinking it was this place and was pretty disapointed.

Erik Just got so much experience.... and then lost it all
the boost against Indignus being temporary aside, the only thing he lost are his skill trees. His SP and EP are still there till you regain his memories.

Hmm I always wonderd if the reason erique did not lose his memory completely is because although she promised him to destroy his current opponent at the moment, the power did not last long to do so. Therefor the deal wasn't quite meet and could not erase eriks memory completely

While I happily bought this game a 2nd time ( First time beating it on the PS4) I wish this extra stuff was on the ps4 and pc too but i'm glad I have it on the switch

So, after the world tree fell, we got to see what happened to Sylvano, Jade, Eric and Rab. What about Veronica and Serena?

This was the most fun and interesting one from all the side quests between act one and act two.

I was told that this part is shown before the entire fish thing and finding the party members on the switch version. Which kinda sucks because it takes away the suspence when you find him. Im playing this on ps4 and on the part where they found him in their ship, like a lost puppy. Got me really bothered and curious.
there is stuff in-between this chapter and when you finally find a him which leads to the suspense of what happened to him between him losing his memories and when will you finally find him, or that's what I experienced when playing this for the first time on the switch
Yeah but in the original him losing his memory is never explained and I kind of like these chapter because they remind me of Dragon Quest 4. Though I do aprt of agree with you that they kind of take away suspense.

My Eric doesn't doge any of that lol, he just takes the hit every time and dies
I GET THAT LMAO but I think it’s because he’s a thief and he’s more on the agile side than the defence side if that makes sense

I had Eric pep up during this fight so i was just like "huh, guess he is Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken.*

I had him wearing the black jacket, he looked so cool.
When I got to this part. My total Hp at Kai-o-ken form was 666. I thought that was intentional, like he had a relationship with the devil, but I see it was a coincidence for me 😂

How did the game play out before these side stories? I only ever played the definitive version.
I only finished the definitive version too but I believe the game goes straight to the Luminary transformed as a fish in Nautica.

play through the story naturally. S was my first DQXI experience so I can't say if this is present in the PS4 /PC port

@@sLasHeRxXx07 They are not available on any other version besides the Switch. They happen just after the World Tree event, instead of going straight to the Hero as a Fish. You play thru these Solo character scenario's first.

It's the regular storyline if you possess the Switch or recent December re-release of the game on the other platforms.

I truly hate the ending of this game.
Level 28!? I WAS LEVEL 40! My Erik had way over 400 attack! He had dual Falcon Blades! The skill Divide, AND he one shot each enemy in the fight you lost! Did you realize that you could've farmed Liquid Metal Slimes? They're HEAVILY nerfed in Erik's story, 4 HP and appear regularly instead of rarely.
If that wasn't enough, I COMPLETELY destroyed Indignus with Divide and a regular attack, each individual hit doing over 600 damage!

Well go figure... yet another player who has lackluster equipment & stats from rushing thru the game. Why doesn't anyone take their time in these games these days?

@@Blackan Ridiculous. I see this player logged a mere 25ish hours to get to this point, while my file has over 200 hours at this point in the game! Yeah, I get that's a bit excessive, but still. 25 hours is definitely rushing.
And that equipment... there is ZERO reason that he should have beginning of game equipment at this point. Tells me this guy completely rushed thru everything without even bothering with buying, crafting or stealing better gear. For shame! Why even bother if you're not going to enjoy the various mechanics of the game, including battle & equipment?
@@Blackan That & the amateur move of learning Sleeper Hit/Persecutter instead of Cobra Strike & Victimiser, which are much more effective against bosses. They are very much worth the extra SP to get over the other two.
It would also have been wise to go with Swords as his secondary skillset vs Boomerangs, & count on the other characters for multi enemy damage. The Hero belongs under Greatswords all the way up til the late game and can use helichopter to do very nice damage to multiple foes, & Veronica is a natural multi enemy hitting beast.
I did, but I end up a little overpowered in some key moments. Thankfully, that stopped in postgame.
skins4thewin I think I was at well over 50 hrs, I can’t quite remember. But I do know Erik was either lvl 45 or 46 with an divide, cobra strike, dual wielding, and victimizer, naturally beat the boss in 3 turns
