  • Join us on an exploration of the stunning gardens of the Chateau de Marqueyssac in the Dordogne. They were created 150 years ago by Julien de Cerval, so wanted to create a garden for contemplation in which he could write poetry. He focused heavily on the use of box hedges, planting over 150,000 box plants which are still trimmed by hand! The gardens are spread over 19 hectares on cliffs overlooking the river Dordogne, with views over several of the most beautiful villages in France. The experience is breathtaking...

Being someone who wears heels every day, even in the most uncomfortable and inappropriate situations, Stephanie makes me feel so much better about it and I love that she just doesn't let the wrong choice of shoes stop her from climbing on nets and walking on uneven stones in the forest. I love your take on life and how bubbly and joyful you are in any situation, a genuine ray of sunshine.

Dear Stephanie, I was there with my late Husband a few years ago, we loved it, I remember the bedroom and the wallpaper , and the piano, my Husband played piano and his name was Philip. We also went into the stone folly too, It was a very hot day , and it was a holiday to remember, I have a DVD of it all with pictures and music which I made, thank you for taking me there again, thank You both, so glad you are feeling well again Stephanie xx

" We'd better get a wiggle on...that's a lot of box-hedging." LOL Loved your childhood "the sun has got a meeting with the moon" story, Stephanie - do wish you would've sung it for us though...maybe another time . "It's going downhill quickly now...do you mean the video or the path?" So enjoyed the banter throughout the explore...good job facing your "fear of heights", Philip! "His gardens have once again inspired poetry" - I work in an elementary school and enjoy poetry times - loved watching the process of creating your "chateau girl" limerick :) What beautiful village/manor house vistas throughout! "The question is...do we want to find the exit?" Beautiful peacock appearance to end....Thank you for this lovely, lovely walk .

Being a gardener since age eight, plants surround me in my dreams like best friends. I believe in the intelligence of plants, and that they give love. They throw their branches out for you, and love it if you carry off their produce, and flowers. They are millions of years older, just upside down with their heads in the ground. In my dreams they move as if they can float across the ground. Sometimes I think they remind me to water.

You guys are nuts. In a happy, innocent and loving sort of way. I just wish I could be there enjoying with you. The Château is magnificent and I could definitely see some of the features there at La Lande. I recently bought a home in Puerto Rico with an acre of land on the top of a mountain. This video also gives me ideas for my property. Thank you for that. As far as Philip‘s fear of heights I totally get it. I also am terrified of heights. He did much better that I would have. I would never get nowhere near that railing. With that said I think Phillip’s hair looks awesome in this video. I had my hair very long also and recently cut it all off. Actually I had shaved my head. It’s grown back now but I don’t think I will ever grow it out that long again. Thank you so much fir all your videos. I have been going through some rough times and Covid hasn’t made it any better. But your videos make me smile and take me away from the humdrum feeling of life. I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and I’ve been here for 25 years now and I’m ready to make some changes in my life. My original plan was to move to southern France but the current circumstances haven’t allowed me to do so. That’s the reason I purchased a property in Puerto Rico. Aside from it being my birthplace, it is also very beautiful. I would so much love to be a patreon but my finances don’t allow it at the moment. However, I have watched all your videos and have enjoyed them all. Thank you for being so vibrant and motivating. I don’t know how you do it but you always have a smile on your face even through the roughest of times. You are truly blessed. Take care and continue your amazing work.

Okay, firstly there was the heights and the nervous laughter with Phillip. I fully get why he jumped and said not to push him because I lose all trust in even my husband when on a high edge. Then there was the children's play area netting scene that had me in stitches and then there was the limerick. The garden's are spectacular and I'm sure you got many wonderful ideas for La Lande but for sheer entertainment I only need Stephanie and Phillip. Much love to you and I hope you continue to recuperate fully.

Just absolutely wonderful stroll in the gardens. I think it was very therapeutic for you Stephanie, you seem so happy and connected with the whole experience. Thanks for inviting us too!

This is absolutely an amazing place!!! Beautiful, magical, inspiring... and you are right, it does not need flowers, it is a piece of art, a sculpture. Everything is thoughtfully orchestrated to transport the visitor...

Love the spot at the end when you just let us absorb the evening sunlight over the garden with the birds twittering--it transported me there for a moment.
