This was another delightful, château diary. I was completely enthralled and so enamored that I walked down the stairs, watching the video. The elegant workmanship, the artistry and joyful chic in those fabrics and clothes!
dear Stephanie, big love from Armenia! I'm armenian and felt so proud of hearing from you about the armenian ''fabric workers'', it may seem a tiny thing for some ppl, but it really made my day. Wish you all the best 🌼🌼🌼
You might have outdone yourself here. The way you cut this together between the talk at home and the walk through the museum was masterful! Thank you for bringing us along. I am learning so much and this feels almost like visiting in person. All these tours with owners, directors, historians, guides, etc feel so special and personal for me as a viewer.
I once visited a Solieado shop in France, and while I loved everything they sold, I had no appreciation of its history and fabrication techniques. You have, once again, done a excellent job of educating, entertaining, and encouraging creativity !!
I am the same that is why I have to check my cases in storage where I packed my purchases from Soleidad. It looked good in the shop but I lost interest once I carted it all the way home. Stephanie & Isabel have a way of inspiring us to look at things in a different light.
Well done Stephanie and Isabelle. You did a great job. I can hardly believe the company has ever had a better programme made about them. Their brand has been introduced to thousands.
Mummy is absolutely amazing. Even though separated from Percy, I think all the work in the garden has made her very agile, happy, productive, and satisfied with the accomplishments being achieved at Lalande. We love her!
Right. After than fabulous inspirational video I am now going to find the 2 antique Indian wood blocks that have been kicking around on a dusty shelf for years. I found them in a charity shop for £2 each. Armed with a white vintage cotton sheet (also thrifted) I will have some fun tomorrow printing fabric while the rain pours outside. That’s Tuesday sorted. Thanks, Stephanie x
If the are Indian then they would have been used to make chintzes which is what the provencal textiles were based on- not just the technique but also the designs, motifs and colours.
This video was so wonderful, happiness personified in fabulous Souleiado fabrics and a charming narrative by such a beautiful mother and daughter!! Merci mille fois!
WHAT a joy - you, Isabelle, that LOVELY man and such beautiful fabrics - your euphoria was catching - this is one of the most enjoyable episodes ever and I hope it brings them lots of business! THANK YOU 😀
Fascinating! I think I must watch this one over again at least one more time. Really, this episode rivals the cultural shows on television. When I first discovered your channel, pre-lockdown, I almost left it because I wasn't interested in watching partying and revelry with rich strangers. But since lockdown, the channel has developed a family feel, and rather than endless parties, you show gardening and DIY projects, and now these wonderful cultural episodes. The art history major in me loves those. I look forward to each episode, and to catching up with the familiar faces--and animals, which make such a wonderful ensemble working and playing together.
Wow!! What a history lesson. 65 years old and in love with textiles and such and never knew the story behind this beautiful fabric. How interesting. Thank you for sharing. Live you channel👍❤️
Perhaps my favourite blog yet! I am a fabric artist/quilter and have half metre cuts of Provencial fabrics in my stash - I am now motivated to make handbags with these!! I have made 5 trips from Canada to France and have visited many regions, but am yet to travel to Avignon and will DEFINITELY visit the Soleiado Company - Thank you Stephanie!!!
This has been by far your best vlog. I learned so much about these beautiful textiles. You are so wonderful at explaining the history in a very succinct and interesting way. Thank you for all that you do. You are incredible.
I like this outfit on you. It combines your usual sort of “hippy” skirt tempered with a smart classic jacket. It’s you with an extra twist of chic. Love it
@@lolodee3528 Unfortunately there is a darker history attached to this. After the invention of the textile print machines, the British deliberately killed off the hand painted/printed chintz industry in India. It had widespread effects because everybody in Asia wanted Indian hand painted chintzes.
I’m loving your blue and white ensemble Stephanie. Oh just seeing that it is your vintage find- yummy. Have to say that I also love the managers outfit - so bright and colorful.
In my first country house in Normandy called ' Le Chateau' I used these fabrics in the kitchen back in the 80's, it was really pretty and complemented the patchwork of blue and white tiles over the Cornue cooker. In later years I worked with the daughter of the Demery family who is a fashion designer, her parents had sold the company. In St Remy de Provence there is a gorgeous chateau also belonging to the company I think, an incredible estate in the town. I also lived in Nimes where similar fabrics were used in the gauchos shirts and ladies headscarves. Thank you for another wonderful video. xoxoxo
As an interior designer I am loving the vlogs about decor and fabrics. I have loved these Provençal fabrics for years, it was so lovely to hear and see the history.
Well you did it Stephanie, I was a child of the 70's who still lives in blue jeans but you have made me see the beauty of all these printed fabrics so I think its time for a little style upgrade!
Never really thought about it, but seeing this, I realise that these type of colourful, flowing clothes are excactly the types I love seeing women wear - they are so happy and sunny and relaxed, just like a wonderful day during a vacation, with nothing but relaxed pleasure and without a care in the world.
Yes, there is a lazy liveliness about these colors & patterns that scream☀️sunny summer in the South of France. 🍽 Equally 💛 tablescapes draped with these fabulous fabrics that instantly transport your celebration to the rustic elegance of the idyllic ⚜ French countryside.
you really brought out the joy and excitement in the museum manager - great interview ! passionate people talking about what they are passionate about is inspirational. Merci de Australie x
Soooo looking forward to this vlog. Stephanie is such a natural at narrating and there is always so much research that goes into these vlogs.....love em xxx
What a wonderful vlog. I am sure I will watch many times. Small towns, small museums., and of course wonderful villages will always be my favorite. I thank you very much for making me feel I am there.
Stephanie, I have been enjoying your vlogs for a while now. I have to say my heart skipped a beat when you showed all those print blocks. They are beautiful! You see I am a potter and use wooden blocks like that to create texture in clay for various pieces of my work. I enjoy searching for new and unique block prints. Now you have added more to the back story of the wooden blocks. Thank you for the lovely tour. You have a wonderful voice for narrating. Thank you for the vlogs, I look forward to them weekly.
Came home from a day of running errands ... got my cup of tea & relaxed to watch my two favorite ladies ... I was transfixed .. floating in the gorgeous world of French fabrics... Oh you French women are amazing... Exquisite taste ...🌹
Another FANTASTIC Sunday at the Chateau! I never knew about any of this. I learn so many wonderful things. I'm absolutely going there. I loveeee being a patron!
Stephanie, im a fashion designer, so i will have to go to Lalande one day and we'll have to make a collection with all this beautiful fabrics, it would be a dream come true to me
OMG OMG OMG loved this episode ! One of my first jobs was a textile designer and this history is phenomenal! Really enriching to learn . Loved this . Well done Stephanie x
Oh Stephanie, that was exquisite!! Thank you for such an in-depth history and tour of such incredible textiles and clothing. I will definitely need to watch it several times more to catch all the details. I’m so inspired!! And I loved Frederick’s outfit as well for men!! Exquisite!!
Well, this was very much worth the wait! I have always loved these fabrics and never, ever dreamed that the work that went into creating them was so laborious. I will cherish my own tablecloth collection even more now. Stephanie, your tutorials are cherished and priceless as well! Thank you to you and mummy for this.
I was so excited when I saw the bag Princess Diana had, as I had yearned to have one just like it back then. Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. ❤️
This was absolutely fascinating Stephanie. I was completely entranced. I also adore both history and textiles. I live in a world of creativity for the most part and find all this so inspiring. So much color and ideas, the wooden blokes I love. Frederick! I thought him stunning. Loved Mummy's purchase. Thank you so much.
Thank you ladies! Stephanie what a huge amount of research to show us French history. I so enjoy your history vlogs. I often go back and watch them. I also collect Spode and today had the pleasure of seeing my granddaughters interest in Spode as well! Stay safe warm hugs from 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Amazing vlog Stephanie, your star is ascending I think we will soon see you on main stream TV with your own programme. You just captivate us from the first moment Thankyou
Another fabulous, interesting, beautiful vlog. You have a wonderful gift for sharing history, I enjoy learning so much they way you present it. Thank you for the time and thought you put into each one you do.
🎉 Marvelous museum & tour. 💣Mind-blowing💥 all those layers, processes & techniques, & tiniest attention to detail. The history & craftsmanship through the centuries is rather spectacular.
That was fascinating! I love learning the history behind the production of such fabrics and in awe of the hours and skill taken to develop them. Good choice on the skirt you chose. Another place to add to my bucket list 🤔
This is marvelous! I have always taken fabric for granted and never paid it any attention at all, I am sad to admit. I will be much more observant from now on!! Thank you!
Just beautiful. Thank you Stephanie for the information on the history of this work of art of fabric making. Wonderful colours. I am going to rummage through my cases in storage to find my stash of Soleidad purchases of 10 years ago.
I was admiring your skirt since the beginning of the vlog and yes! I notice it when you showed it in the museum! Its so wonderful that finally after dreaming of it as a little girl, now you have it! Enjoy! It's soooo lovely! Everything was wonderful in this vlog, I am now more knowledgeable on Provence fabrics and I am in love with them! Mummy's bag is gorgeous! She chose the perfect one! xxx :)
Have the number of videos dropped since Stephanie got help? I think so. Maybe they are having trouble working at her pace 😂 but I'm pleased because she was looking tired.
@@ladyjane8855 no still the same number. The gift unwrapping vlogs have moved to a new channel obviously so that's why they don't appear under the Chateau Diaries anymore. And today's fabric vlog was delayed by a day because editing took much longer than expected 😊.
Missed you all Sunday evening! but so glad that we are able to see you tonight Stephane, looking forward as usual to an interesting time with you all at Lalande! 🏴❤️👍🏻
Spectacular documentary. *Thank you*. I’d feel ever so privileged being able to visit this museum, the region of Provence and wear any item made with such detailed elegance. Wow, I’m gobsmacked! I stopped watching tv 4-yrs ago and with a fine show such as this one it isn’t likely I’ll ever watch tv again. Wonderful. I think we can watch each episode time and time again without feeling bored. Everything bubbles like champagne at Chateau La Lande!
This episode popped up on my YT feed. So amazing, I love the way you interweave historical tidbits in your videos. I’ll never be able to go there but now I feel as I was there .. thank you for a totally inspiring episode. Your Mother is a treasure, you so lucky. When you listen to her it’s so obvious where your beautiful spirit comes from. I’m so happy I found your channel. Au revoir
SO so so so stunning! I've always love beautiful, intricate fabrics and things, but always thought they were the reserve of fancy houses and big wallets. Thanks to your vlogs I know what key words to search and have found more affordable ways to surround myself with lovely things. I recently replaced my living room curtains with block printed cloth, and last night bought a face mask made with a William Morris print. Love!
Love the crackling fireside chat, and the lovely tour. I love fabric, enjoy sewing and quilt making. Thank you for these wonderful history lessons. Pure joy!
Love, love your skirt...I enjoy this Vlog so much...so many BEAUTIFUL things to see. I am in awe of the work that went into making these beautiful fabrics. Thank you. 😁
That was absolutely amazing and special!!! What an amazing and very special tour! Seriously, I would love to visit France and Lalande!!! Hopefully someday soon I’ll be able to visit!!
Loved seeing the fabrics and the printing blocks, I went to Provence when my daughter was young and bought her a skirt. I remember it swished because it was a full circle and tiered. Of course she decided a few years later that she hated dresses and skirts! This really cheered me up as all your vlogs do. Thank you Joy
My week is never complete without watching your vlogs, and I SO love this one! Thank you, Stephanie, I have learned again a lot from you, and my interest for France has grown more and more. What a fascinating, intricate process of creating such beautiful fabric! I am now on the hunt for Souleiado bags and apparel 😍 The lovely skirt you wore in this vlog caught my eye right at the beginning..... it has my favorite color, too 😘 Looking forward to more vlogs from you, and lots of love to Isabelle and the rest of the family and friends of Lalande 💖💖💖
You and your mother are a great team in these regional vlogs. Makes me happy to watch your firsthand interviews with people who are keeping regional traditions and crafts alive. I knew that Louis XIV was all about the French silk trade but wasn’t aware of his war on cotton trades. The Matelasse’ coverlets were also quite beautiful. Maybe in a few years or sooner you will be able to use some of these on your beautifully restored beds. You should offer small regional tour groups that begin and end at your Chateau. I think it will be the next reincarnation f travel. France has such a rich history. You are a great example of someone actualizing their vision for their life. We all need a vision of how we want our lives to be/what we want it to look like and feel. Bravo!
This was the greatest! I have a love for Provence and for regional fabric history, but even my husband thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and the information. The Souleiado museum visit was exciting and tremendously inspirational. Love your skirt! Thank you and Isabelle for another outstanding vlog. I appreciate your dedication to us and we remain totally devoted to you. Sending hugs of gratitude!
These videos should be put on tv. Better and more educational than so many programs. I learn so much. I spend my days helping families in distress. This is wonderful to expand my brain and think of other worlds.
The padded cotton dresses were essential for protecting women from the heat of the fireplace while cooking.Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts even will let you dress up before the fire to feel the difference!
Stephanie, you have excelled in this vlog! I absolutely adore the Provençal colours and the history of Soleiado fabrics was really interesting! Thank you for taking me there and thank you Frederick!
Thank you so much Stephanie..I had been waiting to see this since your trip with Mummy and Hani..what beautiful history told from such a fantastic story teller 😊
My 10 year old daughter and are are taking advantage of quarantine here in the US by learning all we can about French history, language, and art. 🥰she loves your videos!
Stephanie...as someone who is nuts for fabric and beautiful patterns, I absolutely loved this video! It was so fantastic seeing how the patterns were once created on the fabric. And such a variety of beautiful colorful prints! It’s so fun to see you and your mum together, and thank you for sharing a great slice of French fabric culture with us. 🇫🇷 🇬🇧🇺🇸. 👍❤️
Thank you so much for this wonderful tour of the Souleado museum! You have made my day! Their patterns have always made me so happy and a Souleado tablecloth I purchased several years ago in Cassis always makes me smile - same print as Mummy’s bag but in bright yellow with turquoise trim! Amy
Hello from Alberta, Canada, Such lovely fabrics and- I am also a fan of anything French, and have several small pieces acquired on eBay... thank you so much for delightful tour and history. My little pieces will be the stars of my sewing room!
Thank you so much Stephanie and Isabel for taking us on this tour of history and fashion. As a hobby sewist my little heart just beat a little faster realizing what i was watching. I may never make it to France but if I did this would have to be a day stop for me.

Absolutely fabulous. From London I came to Avignon and then to a small village called Forcalquier. Provincial France is my favorite of all the world.
Couldn't ignore the warm sound of cracking fire! distracted me from the beautiful subject of the video
The colors are so beautiful. I’m Norwegian and Swedish and the colors stir my heart. Thank you for the tour and lessons.
Loved every minute of this vlog! Thank you so much Stephanie for teaching us so much about your beautiful France!!!XXOO
I’m waiting in total excitement about “fabric”. Thank you , Stephanie!
You have a fabulous sounding name btw!!!
Well, thank you very much ! A grand compliment indeed. ❤️❤️❤️
Fascinating history - thank you so much!
That was absolutely amazing and special!!! What an amazing and very special tour! Seriously, I would love to visit France and Lalande!!! Hopefully someday soon I’ll be able to visit!!
Oh, so far beyond fabrics, it’s beautiful artwork 💛🍁💛
Stephanie thank you so much for doing this vlog. I loved the history of Provencal fabrics. One of your best history blogs.
One day I'll travel all over France and get to see this place ! 😊
Omw. I am dying. I would never leave those fabrics alone. I am crazy about fabrics. I will go there one day.
Stephanie, you have excelled in this vlog! I absolutely adore the Provençal colours and the history of Soleiado fabrics was really interesting!
Thank you for taking me there and thank you Frederick!
I just adore these special, historical design videos! Merci Stephanie and Isabelle! This was so much fun!
Loved watching. I never realized how much work went into printing the fabric
Tv/streaming companies couldn't provide better quality content than this.. Absolutely top notch! Excellence with depth and ease.. 👌✨ Thank you!!! 🙏😍
I love all those fabrics! Everything is beautiful ❤️
Fascinating video - this type of historical video is my favorite - looking forward to more in the future.
