It’s for “Asperges”! Asparagus need to be drain after being poached and to keep them out of the excess water they have that kind of dish! I LOVE this Emmaus trip. My next travel to France I will go over there and get a container full of stuff to redecorate my home in Chile 😂 low key I’m actually contemplating it. Merci de me faire rêver, est avant tout de me donner les force de réaliser certaine folie 💕
Adored this shopping trip...... MORE SHOPPING PLEASE ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
As a reseller, I love and appreciate your visits to the brocantes. Were I to visit, much of my time would be spent scouring the shelves of the local thrift shops and antiques stores.
So enjoyable to watch! Lucky found at the brocante, beautiful print, ceramics and the hat - love them all.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Beautiful vlog to end my Sunday evening. Thank you Stephanie and Isabelle.
That was wonderful. Enjoyed every minute!
-Love those plates from Bernadaud @The Chateau Diaries 🤩🦚
OHH MY DOG THAT HAT !!! Swoooonnn . 💕
Absolutely loved this vlog with your mam, you should do more, when possible.
More antique shopping please 🌞
Love the hat.
Stephanie, that hat is everything!
Stephanie, An idea so we can all enjoy your shopping too. Open an Etsy account with the items you would like to buy but either already have too much or just don't need that item, or Mummy said "no" ;-). You can call it The La Lande Gift Shop. Add the local honey that you had in an episode and we can all have a piece of your shopping trips!
I loved this! Thank you.
I have a 2 tomes edition of L'île Mystérieuse from Jean Bonnot (éd.) It's dark blue with silver and gold details. Those books are just magnificent 😍
Oh my Stephanie please don’t get that bouffant hat near real candles -oh gosh!!😀
You may never know the healing quality of you and Mummy but take my word it is healing to the soul. Thank you both.
Indeed, so true.
Totally agree.😄
Yes and yes!!
The dish with the holes, I think it’s for keeping “ ovo quente” , eggs hot , with hot water
amen to that
A particularly lovely episode, shopping with your mum, one of life’s simple pleasures. It reminded me of my lovely mum and when we used to enjoy doing the same thing😁 sadly she’s no longer here to do it, but enjoy every moment you both spend together, precious moments.
Loved this episode 😁💜💜 The table looked beautiful, this was a genuine pleasure to watch.😁
Bonjour,
Le plat creux avec le couvercle qui a des trous est un plat à asperges. Quand on pose les asperges sur le couvercle, l'excédent d'eau des asperges coulent pas les trous. Ainsi les asperges ne baignent pas dans l'eau :)
"Back to the Brocante" - I see another Chateau web series! I love a good treasure hunt, even if it's lived vicariously! Thanks for these! The Thanksgiving table set-up looked gorgeous, the sweet new tea set was lovely and I'm looking forward to learning all about French cheese!
THREE-Hole Platter: have seen those used to serve oysters, shrimp and fish on a thin bed of ice. The holes allow the ice to melt below the food so it doesn't get soggy....LOVE the hat! - it's a tornado of exploding mosquito netting!
PussyGalore oysters 🦪 are classically served on oyster plates.
Unless served Bistro style.
I’m sure you could put a thin layer of ice then place fish or shrimp- but when the dish was made- the ice would still have gone under the insert. Think Victorian dinner services....
@SMG It's for serving asparagus so the water drains off them.
@@anntaylor1811 That sounds right.. large meat platters had matching drainers but the holes were small, allowing the meat juices to drain through to the plate. The plate would not be deep enough to hold melted ice...
I think it is for butter. Curled butter shavings on top with chipped ice underneath to keep cold.
@@gailcraig4495that was my thought. Butter and a little ice with drain holes.
I LOVE this style of vlog. Definitely do more! So interesting to see your whole process, from going to the store, to deciding what to get, to bringing things into the chateau! so fun
The plate are good price.. only one plate is 25.00 dollars.
Mummy be like "we do not have room." I be like "you got a Chateau of room"
Landon Pelt lol
So true lol. I thought that too
Lolololololol true
Stephanie,
No words to express the sweetness of life that is you & your mother, your examples of beauty are on so many levels-
Not many people can understand our love, and dare I say, obsession with setting a beautiful table and using our china.
When my mother was a child during the depression in the deep south, (Louisiana) she would babysit for pennies, then walk into town, ( shoeless!) She would then put her change towards the family china pattern for her mother. There were times when those plates were empty but there was beauty and hope. Aesthetics are so important to the quality of our lives.
My mother’s story was similar. She came from extreme poverty. Once she started moving upward she collected old china plate by plate and quilts. I thought of her as I watched this vlog. She collected enough sets to leave a unique set to each of her granddaughters.
Elizabeth Perry, Are you my Liz? Or another? 💗. Lovely story
That's so sweet. My mom also suffered some hunger thru the depression. We collect old bread making bowls and it came from their eating beans with home made rolls, as we too, had to resort to again in the early 79's
Oh, please tell me you have the china!
💗💗💗
How delightful! I feel like I've been with kindred spirit friends on a lovely, productive ramble! Thank you for inviting us!
It is so very good that your day at the brocante is thousands of miles away from Canada. I would have lost my reason today had I been with you and mummy and bought all sorts of lovely bits and pieces that I do not remotely need but could not have done without. Your table setting is stunning. Vicarious thrills, chair side shopping and, as a result, extremely easy on the pocketbook. Delightful. More, please, in the future!
I would have been in such trouble there!
Kathleen Clark Any chance you used to live in North York Ontario?
TnAgo. Sorry but it happens to be a fairly common name!
Kathleen Clark Haha yes definitely, thank you for answering though!
where is handsome cheese man!! He was bold 😜
That white hat is something Helena Bonham Carter would wear for her wedding or going to the Kentucky Derby. Stephanie can rent it out to some extravagant brides who want to have their weddings at LaLande.
I can also see HBC wearing the hat to the supermarket
Asparagus plate keeps it warm without getting soggy, brilliant!
You could have a "white" party in which everyone wears white and your decorations for the party are all in white or a white and gold party ...or any mix. I think it would be stunning!
The print was just perfect. Lovely & so appropriate for that room!
I have found fabulous works of art in my favorite thrift store.
What lovely treasures you have found. This Sundays at the chateau was so much fun and kind of cozy to watch. Loved it to see just you and Mummy, such a great Mother-Daughter-Team 😊❤️ the print fits perfectly into the the room and the hat is amazing. 😂😂 Just love your sense of humour. You give me so much inspiration, thanks Stephanie ❤️
What I love about shopping trips like these: 1- We get to browse charity shops in France! 2- The hunt for a bargain is intoxicating. 3- Bonding with those you love, be it family, friends, guests, etc. is heartwarming. 4- Running home to display your treasures and feather your nest is essential. 5- Basking in the beauty you created completes the shopping experience. And it shows us how we can beautify our own homes without breaking the bank! Just perfect!
Oh wow i love vintage china😍 this vlog is my idea of heaven X
It's kind of shocking, in a marvelous way, to see all those treasures in one spot..very unusual--maybe not for France though! I'll have to wear a bib for all the drooling next time! :P
I am so glad you took me shopping with you. Hope they didn't notice that I was NOT wearing a mask. Vicarious virtual shopping. (Mummy's taste is impeccable.)
Frothy headwear, beautiful books, exquisite plates-bowls-cups, and tea with mommy... My solitary, quarantined Sunday is lovely once again. 😍😍😍
I love the way you mix & match your table settings. Beautiful style.
d miller me too!
The love that you both have for each other is felt in my heart.♥️♥️
I just love you two, you’re better then anything on TV. Keep it up ladies xxxx
The french cheese information series would be wonderful! From farmland Minnesota.
oh!! convince Minnesota farmers to make good french cheeses!🙏🙏🤞
Shannon Tymlw, so sorry, would LOVE to have french cheese!! But so difficult for farmers to make a living without a off farm good living. Have some farmers around the state that do some artisan cheeses. I loved the cheeses in Strasbourg! I worked off the farm but not full time. My husband and son worked like dogs on the farm with registed holsteins, (loved them) the guys health took a toll. Would never trade the experience. Kids in 4-H, FFA and Dairy Bowl. 1 son, 2 daughters. Priceless experience
Me too! I’m from Minnesota! 😁
@@Nina8959603 welcome, trust that you don't farm! Aren't these shows wonderful they are sharing? I do miss France. Also, daughter works in London, miss her too.
@@lisaa8437 -another Minnesooootan! Happy to hear.
What a perfect mother/daughter day. Especially enjoyed the hanging of the picture which always requires a slight rearranging of a room. Your Thanksgiving place settings are mismatched perfection.
I loved this episode. I wish I was there shopping with you. What a extraordinary experience to share with Mummy. The table looks magnificent.
Stephanie, Your white Hat could have been Miss Havershams Wedding Hat!
Keep it away from the flames, Dearie!
Miss Havisham! That's exactly what I thought the moment I saw it!
Fantastic! Love to see you and Mummy shopping by yourselves.
The three hole dish is for asparagus.
@@hsimpson6581 It is for asparagus actually. A French woman in the comments identified it and several people provided links to identical style dishes that are oblong with 3 holes and they're for asparagus. Who knew? Here's one I found:
www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/pillivuyt-porcelain-asparagus-drainer-1997145928
@@Sgirl Thank you. I was wrong on this one.
@@hsimpson6581 Seems rather odd to me ... just drain the asparagus before you put it on the platter, but perhaps they used to cook it until it was water logged. 🤷♀️
I’ve re-purposed a similar one as a soap dish.
Love the hat, reminds me of Georgiana Spencer, The Duchess of Devonshire. Xxxx Davey
The coffee pot with the wheat painting could be barley, as traditionally we can have a really nice barley drink instead of coffee.
Stephanie, you need to do a performance of "Ascot Gavotte" from the musical My Fair Lady in that hat! ua-cam.com/video/uNgsAcSJdAg/v-deo.html
Catherine O love that!
Fabulous. In that spirit, I suggest a "sprinkling" of very small satin bows (like butterflies) throughout the tulle. The color of bows could depend on the outfit Stephanie is wearing.
@@vino140 😆😆😆😆🤣😍
Beautiful Wedgwood in chambre de Rogier..Love that you took us to the Brocante Stephanie, thank you..but as a bibliophile I wish you didn't leave the gorgeous Decameron behind (ah well, maybe next time?) Thank you for sharing as always.
I thought it would have been a nice addition for the room that has her father's earlier medieval-style paintings (though I've forgotten which in the Chateau it is)! But moderation in all things . . . and if it's there if Stephanie makes a return trip, then perhaps it was meant to be!
What a fabulous thrift shop! What a great haul!
Have you considered installing/using a picture rail to hang pictures from, thereby sparing that exquisite wallpaper from damage?
I LOVED this episode!!! Beautiful tablescape in the kitchen at the end -- so dreamy!
The perfect episode....Mommy, shopping, porcelain and Stephanie's sunny disposition.
My favorite thing is when you go to the thrift shops! I want to come there and go to them all!!!
My favorite thanks big to do, shopping charity shops! Thanks for making my Sunday complete! Love the hat!
I really love this formula, only you and your mummy going out shopping. It was lovely and your mother looked very pleased. Everything was very nice, the table setting, the tea set and cake lounging in your lovely chairs ... just lovely... And.... I so wish the brocante in my area had such pretty things!!! 😍😍😍
Lets see more of Isabelle and Stephanie brocante shopping trips as they are amusing treasure hunts.
Thank you both for sharing your charming Mother & Daughter Day! Looking for the turning of the season at LaLande.
Thank you for the visit, I feel like I have had a little shopping done and thus so refreshed!!! Wonderful finds as well, so many dinner sets, just love!!!
The bedroom where you put the portrait is perfect!!! Thank you so much Mother and Stephanie, means a lot, happy safe holidays and have a great week!!!
Just hilarious with that headdress.🤣
Stephanie!!! LOVE your channel, keep up the amazing work you and your friends are doing keep the Chateau alive!
Really enjoyed watching you and your mother shop and work together. I think your hat was worn by a bride.
It's always so sad when your vlog comes to an end!
It really is.
Especially when I have to get back to the real world..... Time to do the laundry!! 😏🙋🏻♀️🕊
Congratulations on reaching €21,000 on Patreon!!
I love the way mommy looks she is so classy when she gets all dolled up please tell her we'd love to see her dolled up more and I love you Steph.
Wonderful Sunday shopping .......treasure these moments❣️
The serving dish with the three holes is for serving asparagus.
Good eye! I work part-time for a china shop, and was intrigued--I've seen butter dishes with similar inserts for ice, but hadn't seen an asparagus server like this. I did some searhing and found one very like it on Worthpoint www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/pillivuyt-porcelain-asparagus-drainer-and
At 7.08 the pattern is called „blue onion“. Meißen was the first manufacture, which used it. It was a copy of old chinese pattern with citruses, pomgranates and peaches. It turned into onions over the time. The other porcelain manufactures copied it. funny to See a German pattern based on chinese decor on a plate, which is made in france with an English Name 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️🍑🍋🍊🔀🔵💙📋🧅
Globalisation is a very modern thing.
Your table decor is to die for. Beautiful job Lady Stephanie. And the small room is so beautiful, just breathe taking.
Then of course I lost it when you put on the hat Lol,, but you know put on a white flowing long dress and run out on your garden and get photograph. You do have that look Lady Stephanie. Much love to you and your beautiful Mum. Thank you for beautiful show. God bless
Table setting worked perfectly! Good eye! Such a peaceful, pretty blog with pleasant people. The solitude of this vlog was wonderful. You both were so calm and happy. The other vlogs are great but this was a lovely change. Thank you!
Your mommy looks stunning in her dress towards the end of the video. She is an incredibly woman and you are very, very lucky to have her as your mother and to get to share your life with her.
Carole Hanrahan yes, that dress was beautiful on her! Youthful and appropriate, with a wonderful, uplifting color.
If I may just comment that I now feel okay wearing masks because of you, I got colorful ones as well 💖
Edit:
So many beautiful plates. They sell those a piece here in the Philippines and quite expensive!
Perfect picture for that room!!
Loved the shopping.
I've spent all of your money, I'm cheering you on to buy, thank God for mummy. Buy that bed !!!!!! Love the print in the room, beautiful. The hat OMG, you have to get married now and wear that.
Dear Stephanie, The pattern of the plates by Sarreguemines is the famous onion-pattern by Meissen. In original it is underglazed cobalt blue. Why they named it "Windsor" - it´s a riddle. Greetings from Nischwitz Castle, Germany!
I always assumed it was associated with "THE" Windsors, thus the name. Interesting. I do like them.
@@barbibutton9619 More ... Battenburg related which was their family name before they changed it to Windsor
@@LibertinaUno Battenb e rg changed to Mountbatten and Sachsen Coburg-Gotha to Windsor because WWI. But these German countries are situated in Thuringia, not in Saxony. Meissen is near by Dresden, the former "Churfürstentum Sachsen". The onion-pattern by Meissen is one of the earliest they created, ca.1725. It is influenced by old Chinese patterns. The "onions" that are pommes de granat. But the Germans in this time didn´t know because it was a very luxerious and exotic fruit. You can order this pattern still today. It´s always handpainted and very succesfull.
I love when you and your Mummy shop together.. I miss having those shopping trips with my Mum and sometimes Daddy would come along. This vlog made me smile in my memories. Thank you.
What fun this was and what great finds! You hit jackpot all the way around. Not that you don’t have enough on your plate(s) already, but I second one of the previous comments...Back to the Brocante would be a fabulous new channel. Forget the Home Shopping Network!
Oh Stephanie my knees got weak when I saw the union dish set OMG! I would have bought it on the spot. It was beautiful!
The grand China set would make for an incredible Christmas tablescape.
Me too!
Loved the prado books too, I’ve actually visited the prado art gallery in Madrid, I bought books of Goya’s works so now have some of his canvas’s too
The pottery was amazing you do have fine taste Stephanie 💖
Well I feel I was with you both at the brocante. I too love to dress my table with china from charity shops and have some beautiful table cloths and napkin. Last year I was so lucky to find to tall candle sticks with 5 branches on each for the candles, they really looked the part at Christmas with navy blue candles. The table cloth again from the charity shop was a gold brocade and the runner was a deeper gold with a beaded tassel either end. Its amazing what you can find for so little, and I agree with you Stephanie that you find what you want and the money goes to a cause which is a win win situation for everyone. Not to mention that its recycling at its best. 95% of what I own comes from charity shops: from homeware to clothes and everything in between. Its amazing what you can find and what people get rid of. And I adore the hat I would have bought it too.....too fabulous to pass up! Lol!! We too dress up for special occasions, seasonal parties. No one know what to expect lol!! Take care, looking forward to the next vlog xx
I would have purchased the book with slides, found a bare wall somewhere and projected the image of one of the slides onto the wall. Then attempted to paint the scene. Ive seen this done to great effect. Maybe not to Oliver's standard - but great fun to attempt.
pam judge . Me too, exactly what I was thinking!
So many wonderful treasures ! And that hat...words can’t describe :) looking forward to seeing you wear it Stephanie at a social occasion. Much love Xo
What fun this was, thank you for taking us along!
Stephanie, I can see you wearing your hat with a long skirt and boots whilst riding a shining black horse!.
There is a wedding going on and it's on your head, HAHAHA. xx
Brilliant I’ve watched this from the very first time, ...you and mum just keep getting better and better thank you and the very best to you all ,you deserve all the good will and love that so many people find in watching you and mummy , good luck girl ....xxx
Nice to see a bust of Napoleon at 2:29 and Ron Swanson peeking over his shoulder! 😂
Aloha from Kealakekua Hawaii😍
oh waw. can't believe such treasures you find for such a bargain. wonderful.
I love the idea of educating us on French cheeses! Can’t wait!
Love it when you go thrifting. Oh, if only there were treasures to be found like that in Iowa. I was thinking, you mentioned once there was an unfinished room on the other side of the kitchen, why not turn that, or at least part of it into a large pantry / china storage room. Now that Selmar has more tools. perhaps he could build it.
Also, we are all curious if Selmar is now on the payroll, surely he isn't volunteering all that labor and time.
What an exciting adventure to take us along on! The Brocante shops in France are tremendous, such wonderful finds to be had. Loved that you did it with Mummy, such a coalition of taste, and don't even get me started on the porcelain dinnerware. It's my passion and drives my joy and I don't have a clue as to why its mesmerized me so from an early age. Yes, its beauty of course, but the joy that happens when seeing a beautiful tablescape is off the charts. Would love to see a weekly Brocante forage!
I would LOVE to see a Sunday blog about CHEESE 🧀! That would be magical 😊😊
Wonderful! What an exciting adventure to visit the Limoge Broucante! Your finds were amazing. The gorgeous porcelains, books, perfect print, and la piêce de resistance, la Coiffe! It will be all the rage, I can see it now! It reminds me of something worn in Frederico Fellini's "Juliette of the Spirits," or the base of a hat from America in the 1890s, or something worn by The Gibson Girl! That hat is "just the ticket" !!!
🙏🏻💗⚜️💜🏰💜⚜️💗🙏🏻
I loved shopping with you & Mummy❤️
A quiet Sunday with just you two.
You will never regret stealing alone time with your Mom.
Thank you both, so very much.
I Loved everything about this vlog !! Oh Stephanie... I loved your hat too !! 🥰❣️
Hello from Australie! I was always told the little 3 hole under plate was to allow the juices of the meat to be collected so your joint of meat was not swimming in juice. Then you can add to a sauce or gravy?
The piece you thought would be nice hiding a bottle of Brandy in a gentleman's room, I thought would be perfect for Marie Wiik to have an Autumnal, or perhaps a dried arrangement in. The lid would sit right next to the vessel.
Hot water was used in that dish to keep long vegetables warm
