Crazy things I've done learning digital art

  • I started doing digital art I think around when I was in middle school, and without taking much guidance from UA-cam or other sources, I made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of strange things in those early years. And while a lot of what I’m going to mention was from back then, I also have some things to include that are much more recent, as in I realized I was doing them while planning this video. You might relate to some of these, or maybe find out you’re currently doing something that would probably be best done differently.

      Me too, I used Ibis Paint X and Procreate for so long, and moved to clip studio paint - there are so many buttons that the first time I used it I was just clicking around and messing about and just hoping something cool would happen (still learning new things and the software is still surprising me with stuff I didn’t know existed)

    Definitely relate to a lot of this. Oh the things I’ve learned about buttons I’ve ignored! My mind was blown by the stopwatch on your iPad. I had no idea it could go so long! I wonder if the stopwatch will ever stop! Imagine being a senior citizen showing the grandkids “and this is my stopwatch. I started it when I was about your age and it has never stopped. You see, back in my day we had these things called iPads-“ meanwhile the grandkids are eyeing the stopwatch thinking about how time is fleeting…

    I can relate to the last point, was using this 3D modelling program with a ton of commands but i only really learnt the basic few. My friend (who is waaay more expericanced than me) looked at what I was doing and just did like 1 action to complete what I was trying to do. Having someone who has actual experiance just next to you can be massively helpful for learning something

    Started on ibis paint then jumped to Procreate ,tried krita the jumped back to Procreate ,since I realized that drawing on a computer slows down my art process so much that an artwork that would take me roughly an hour on Procreate took me more than double on Krita soooo

      Imo it doesn't matter that much, I have a drawing pad and there's not a lot of quality change when I use my finger, or even a mouse/touchpad. The main difference is that having a stylus is faster.

    2:54 I can't access my laptop's keyboard while drawing usually, but it's not that bad. My pen does have programmable buttons, but they're so easy to accidentally click!

    Wait so how do you fix opacity problem?? I have it in procreate and i could never find a fix😭😭😭

    • @Mir12wx
      @Mir12wx 4 місяці тому

      I don't use procreate, but
      there's usually a setting called "pressure sensitivity" or something of the sort in your art program, brush settings or tablet driver. It's an editable graph, and puts pressure to opacity or hue or something else in brush settings. In drivers and app settings I don't see any axis labels. And yes it's never in system settings.

    how do you practice for your line quality its pretty good

    • @kuzillon
      @kuzillon  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks! I’d say the best way to practice lines isn’t much more complicated than just putting in the time and drawing a lot and learning to be confident with it, but specifically I think it’s helped me to do quick study copies of other artist’s drawings I like, and the exercise of drawing two or more dots and connecting them with straight or curved lines

    oh boy do i have a list: i use a mouse despite having a wacom tablet as it is more convenient, i like to do things in one brushtroke (if it looks bad i erase and try again), because of the previous point i skip sketching and go to lineart immidetly, i usually only use one thickness for the ENTIRE DRAWING (if i want a line to taper out then i use the smear tool), i basically only use airbrushes to shade. im fairly certain there is more but i cant remember any
