I have loved Burt Lancaster all my life. He was a giant of the screen. The AFI should have given him the lifetime achievement award, no doubt about it!
He's always be my No.1. Love all his movies since my childhood...... The train (in bw), the profssional +so many..........He's legend. Miss him like you do.
I have seen 32 Burt Lancaster movies. I see several in your video that I am interested in seeing for the first time. Great to see a movie other than Judgement at Nuremberg at number 1 for a change. My favourite movies are From Here To Eternity, The Killers, Gunfight at the OK Corral, The Professionals, The Train, Seven Days in May, The Birdman of Alcatraz, Criss Cross, Separate Tables, Run Silent Sun Deep, Sorry Wrong Number, Trapeze, Field of Dreams, and The Crimson Pirate. Favourite posters and stills are Burt and Ava at the beginning, From Here to Eternity, The Killers, I Walk Alone, Trapeze, The Flame and the Arrow, Vera Cruz, The Train, Elmer Gantry, The Leopard, Gunfight at the OK Corral, Seven Days in May, Sweet Smell of Success, The Birdman of Alcatraz, The Crimson Pirate, Criss Cross, Run Silent Run Deep, 1900, The Hallelujah Trail, I Walk Alone, and the final portrait.
Hi Flora, nearly caught you on the tally, I count 31. You've listed most of my favorites, I will add Flame and the Arrow and Vera Cruz to that group. I also liked Sweet Smell of Success though both Burt and Tony played horrible characters. Thanks again for commenting, always appreciated. Glad you liked the posters and stills.
"The Young Savages" (1961) was omitted here, which has a 6.6 rating on the video for Telly Savalas, which should place it before "The Hallelujah Trail" or thereabouts.
Burt Lancaster is my all time favourite actor, he made more, really good, to great movies, than any other actor I can think of...... I am a John Wayne fan but, Burt's westerns were superior to most of Duke's... Burt made excellent Westerns such as: "Vera Cruz"......... "Lawman"........."Ulzana's Raid"......."Gunfight At The OK Corral".......... "The Professionals"........."The Unforgiven"......"Valdez Is Coming"........."The Scalphunters"
Hi there thanks for commenting. My favorite Burt western is probably Gunfight at OK Corral, followed by The Professionals. Vera Cruz was fun too. What's your no.1 favorite Burt Lancaster movie?
@@Top10Charts3978 He made so many great movies, he had a presence like no other actor, but I have alwaysfelt that "Ulzana's Raid" was so well done , it always pops into my mind, as does, "Lawman" and "The Professionals", and I am just dealing with Westerns here. "Burt played so well in Vera Cruz, to me he stole the picture from Gary Cooper. Burt's movies always had such a great cast, he was always up against other powerful actors. " "From Here To Eternitiy"....... "Seven Days In May" come to mind, so It would seem an injustice to the others to Pick a particular favourite. I would love to be able to watch every one of Burt's movies in chronological order a week apart, all over again, and I am sure there must be some of them that I have not seen at all.
Grande Lancaster eu o conhece através do meu finado pai foi aí que eu vim conhecê-lo foi um grande ator dos filme wester e de pirataria com aquele filme o pirata sanguinário

Another great post Marco, thanks! Too many favorites for me to list but I will mention The Professionals, Gunfight at the OK Corral, Vera Cruz, From Here to Eternity and Seven Days in May.
"The Adrian Messenger list". Have DVD, every time I look at the woman protesting the hunt, tell myself, the gossip's true. Lancaster appears IMO only at the post credit scene.
That's right. I've had this arguement before on movie forums, some film fans refuse to believe the old lady in the film isn't Burt Lancaster, if you look carefully it's an English actress with some make up on. Burt only shows up in the unmasking at the end of the film, a bit of a cheat but from what I've heard he was only available that day for filming. Did I include Messenger on the video? Can't remember.
Returning to my comment,he always had a hostile attitude.Even in Elmer Gantry,d movie that he won an academy award for,he acted as a preacher, but was still hostile.I guess that was part of his behaviour in real life.
Not every film makes the list, if it's not on there it might be on Lizabeth Scott's video. 55 films on that video, many other favorites of yours should be on there Richard.
Acteur éclectique, inclassable, contrairement à ses pairs, il n'était pas classé dans un genre. Le duo avec Gary Cooper dans "Vera Cruz " est resté légendaire.
D big three as they were known were Burt Lancaster,Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas. All were great actors, but I was never a fan of Burt Lancaster,d reason for this,he had a show off attitude and never respected his costars. My favourite of d three was Robert Mitchum!
I left out Trapeze in my original top 30 video for Lancaster and felt bad about it I know it has a lot of fans. I think someone complained it was missing and thats one of the reasons I updated a lot of these old videos with top 50s. The scores for those films are average but the films themselves were highly popular. Maltin seems to be a big fan of Airport he gave it 9 out of 10. What did you think of the top three?
I have loved Burt Lancaster all my life. He was a giant of the screen. The AFI should have given him the lifetime achievement award, no doubt about it!

The Leopard is my favorite Burt Lancaster movie, but you've got a good Top 10 list.
Was "The Young Savages" mentioned?
I don't think so. An oversight. It happens. It might be included in the Telly Savalas chart.
@@Top10Charts3978 Thanks. I just saw that movie on youtube and liked it very much.

Thats pretty much how I would have score the 123. From Here To Eternity, Sweet Smell of Success. The Killers. Very good list.

Oh, the thirties ranked are so o embarassing...
I don't quite get you, the 1930s ranked embarassing? For this video?
