He was a repulsive leftist. He opposed hearings on unamerican activities, which we now know could have and should have stopped the Marxist infiltration of this country
“Progressive” is the most misleading term in political history The “progression” you so foolishly admire is behind the depravity prevalent in 2024 American “culture.”
Burt was such an intelligent articulate human being, you can see why he would need to be in control of his destiny regards Hollywood and its control of so many actors , love his great body of work on the screen hes such a fascinating person to listen to
I love to listen to Mr Lancaster being interviewed, he is so well spoken and does not force his opinions on others, merely answers questions as honestly as he can. Todays actors seem to lack personality and the ability to converse well.
I’m absolutely charmed by his grace, his deep intellect and has to be one of the finest actors to grace the stage of motion pictures. I’m glad that we can all be together to celebrate the golden age of Hollywood. I’ll be sure to ensure my children know the names of all the finest golden age films and actors. What a time to be an actor! Just to add Orson Welles as Edward Rochester in Jayne Eyre showcases another giant in the acting world phenomenal performance, Welles voice has to be the most powerful one surely in the golden age alongside Clark Gable
I had the honor as a young actor of working with him later in his career in Tough Guys in a co star role Only as an older person when I was able to view his work did I realize how brilliant he was. His monologue in Judgement in Nuremburg is profound as well as so many other roles. . He was so kind to me during our breaks on set. He keeps inspiring me to do good work. Thanks Mr. LANCASTER. 😊
JUDGMENT IN NUREMBERG is a marvelous film, with a great broad story, a great love story that ends sadly, and performances that are stunning from older actors who ABSOLUTELY. FUCKING. NAIL. IT. Also the camera movement, lighting, direction is JUST. BRILLIANT. JUST F’ING BRILLIANT.
Mr Lancaster didn't do many television interviews so this is rare,a very strong intelligent man, interested Ng t hear him say he wasn't religious ,in a traditional way and yet he believed in a higher power, great talker, I think if you were to hold a conversation with him and keep up with him you would have to know your stuff, sham this was so short.great post.cah see why he and Kirk Douglas got on, both very similar.
I had the honour of meeting Burt twice, either the day before, or after this interview. 1974, at the Savoy Hotel London, where he always stayed. He was an absolute gentleman, held my hand so gently when he met me, and was lovely to my Mum, who was, and always will be, one of his biggest fans, cuddling her, taking time to talk to her, while Dad took a photo, and then they practically tore him away, and into a black limo, where he was off to the Premiere of Moses. My Dad was a big man. But Burt towered him. He was enormous. The best looking man to ever grace our screens. Rest in Peace Burt Lancaster. Absolute LEGEND
His last role as Doc 'Moonlight' Graham in ' Field of Dreams ' says it all about a real actor . Shone past Kevin Costner in his last scene. What a true Film Star. I still miss Kirk Douglas as well! The days of movie magic seem long gone.
Burt Lancaster was an immensely talented actor in who had the innate ability to elevate a character he portrayed to a high degree of charm, pathos, sensitivity, and stark realism as well. His portrayals of the various people in every film he acted in was a true work of art and genuinely authentic performance of the craft of acting. A legend of screen and stage was what Burt Lancaster truly was.
I had no idea he could speak with such eloquence the characters he plays never really show that side to him ,he tended to dumb them down ,I knew he was a very good actor but now because I saw this interview I know he was in fact a very great actor ,thankyou
you're talking absolute nonsense, he made a career out of playing verbose, articulate, super charismatic characters who gave perfectly enunciated speeches. it's like saying you didn't know the sun was warm until you sat on it.
He could have been President of the US, and ironically in '7 days in May', he was trying to remove a President. He is obviously a sensible intellectual. His best movie was The Train. Fantastic. Without doubt one of the very finest actors.
@@RussMcClay i literally am just finishing this movie and i have to agree .. truly incredible. As the comment above mentions , all his own stunts we're obvious and surprising , in part of some of the things he actually did .. getting kicked off a train , taking a hard fall after getting shot . There was no cut or anything throughout the scene so you know it was him doing these stunts which makes him as an actor all the more impressive
Xcellent interview & gee Burt Lancaster was straight 2 the point & spot on in his views of mankind. What was this movie he is talking about . If anyone knows could u let me know... thx kindly Robert Australia
Imagine a chat show today that was as engaging and insightful as these old ones. Of course if they were then the deliberate dumbing down of society would be that bit more difficult.
You can tell that Lancaster is comfortable with the interviewer. In the 60's Mike Wallace made a flippant remark and Lancaster got up and walked out. Wallace later said " I thought he was going to hit me "
He did a quick shimmy down a metal ladder at one stage in The Train when under air attack! (Was that the air attack where we never actually saw an airplane??
Фильм завораживающий , с глубоким смыслом. Бёрт Ланкастер столь мощная харизматическая личность, с зашкаливающей энергетикой, потому от фильма не оторваться.
Burt Lancaster was a versatile actor. He is known for serious roles, mostly positvie and rarelj negative as in Veracruz. His roles in 'From Here to Eternity' or 'Gunfight at the OK Coral'depict quite different style. Even in a comedy like 'Halleluja Trail he was unique. This interview reflects his depth and intellect.'
Burt Lancaster was not only a leading man in Hollywood but a very intelligent, progressive person who could maintain an in-depht conversation about any Kind of topic. The guy would go crazy of he saw what kind of movies are being produced today.
My mom was on PTA w/his wife Norma. I went to Bellagio Road School w/his son and will never forget his son's birthday party @ their home🎈🎂🎁🎉 the ponies, the pinata, gleeful guests....🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lancaster was a very smart, tough guy, a mix of great aggressiveness and kindness and competitiveness and shyness. People don't realize it, but he was very much a contemporary of Brando's and lost several roles to him.
Lancaster was a force of nature and, though he’s somewhat dismissed these days, he was quite a trailblazer. Never played it safe as an actor, always challenging himself to portray a variety of characters. The clearest diction of any actor, especially after Brando turned mumbling into an art form. Lancaster was also a great supporter of the civil rights movement, when others like John Wayne and Gary Cooper, among many others, were opposed to FDR’s and LBJ’s achievements. Even at the end, he would take small parts in quality films - Local Hero, Field of Dreams.
As this interview shows, Burt Lancaster was as impressive in real life as he was in his films...many thanks for uploading such a rare gem.
He was a repulsive leftist. He opposed hearings on unamerican activities, which we now know could have and should have stopped the Marxist infiltration of this country
Burt Lancaster had one of the best voices ever, and was an absolutely awesome, progressive guy.
He also had the largest face in film history.
Lmao this guy is a rapist but ok.
“Progressive” is the most misleading term in political history
The “progression” you so foolishly admire is behind the depravity prevalent in 2024 American “culture.”
He could sing too❤😊
Progressive as in leftist

Thanks so much 💓🌷🌹🌼🍒🌸

What an intelligent, articulate, interesting man, I loved his passion for life and really enjoyed his performance in The Swimmer.
This man was my Fathers favorite actor.. In fact i was named after this man. I enjoy learning more and more about the man i was named after..
An actor I've loved all my life; for his beauty, intelligence and humanity.
I love to listen to Mr Lancaster being interviewed, he is so well spoken and does not force his opinions on others, merely answers questions as honestly as he can. Todays actors seem to lack personality and the ability to converse well.

My words exactly! 👏🏻👏🏻
He had such awareness and intelligence
He was a serious artist! As far as I am concerned his role as Elmer Gantry has not been equaled anywhere, anytime.
And, Sweet Smell of Success, to name just a couple of excellent performances on Burt's resume.
I think "Come Back Little Sheba" was his best
One of if not the Greatest actor ever..Legendary. ❤
What an interesting rare interview with Burt Lancaster who seemed to be enjoying talking to Russell Harty.
I love Burt Lancaster forever 💖💖💖🥰🥰🥰🌸🌸🌸
lol not a single actor on earth today to give this level of insight
Burt’s look was ahead of it’s time so much so that he looks modern and better looking than the host who is 25 years younger!

Tough Guys was a decent flick. I was a teen then.It was also the debut of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Tough Guys was an '80s classic! It also introduced red hot chili peppers to the world.
Such a brilliant actor. Lovely to hear him discuss his craft with (of all people Russell Harty!)
Gran actor!!!👏👏👏

What a legend. Burt Lancaster was a national treasure.
I’ve always loved Burt since the first film I saw him in. The teeth, the smile, the voice and the way he moved! He shares his birthday with me 🥰
Physically, he had such a great feline grace for such a large, muscular man!
Happy birthday :)
One of Hollywoods' greatest actors and human. Love all of his movies. And to this day I haven't seen them all.
Burt was one of the all time great actors! Love his films. This short interview shows he was a very intelligent man.
I happened upon this by accident, but "mankind is a limited kind of animal" may be one of the greatest truisms about humanity I've heard.
Fantastic interview! please upload more of his interviews.
