Jimmy Stewart is another one of my favourites. I have seen 48 James Stewart movies. Choosing favourites in order after my number one favourite is difficult - it's Rear Window. More of but not all of my favourites are Vertigo, The Philadelphia Story, You Can't Take it With You, Shop Around the Corner, Winchester 73, Harvey, Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Naked Spur, How the West Was Won, After the Thin Man, The Glenn Miller Story, The Far Country, The Man From Laramie, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Two Rode Together, Bell Book and Candle, and Firecreek.
Favourite posters and stills include Rear Window, the Philadelphia Story, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, Anatomy of a Murder, Destry Rides Again, Shop Around the Corner, Winchester 73, Harvey, How the West Was Won, Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, After the Thin Man, The Man From Laramie, The Glenn Miller Story, The Spirit of St. Louis, The Stratton Story, The Far Country, Come Live With Me, Ziegfeld Girl, Made For Each Other, Of Human Hearts, Bell Book and Candle, The Cheyenne Social Club, Firecreek, Thunder Bay, and the final photograph.

Hi Flora, epic post, 48 out of 52 is amazing and so many favorites! Stewart is one of the most popular actors from Hollywoods golden age. I've seen 34 from the list, a few more that didn't make the list like Airport 77 and An American Tail 2. Thanks for commenting, glad you liked the posters and stills. Another Hitchcock favorite due on friday.

For crying out loud, this guy has been in a lot of great movies. I have to agree with "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Rear Window" at numbers 1 and 2 respectively, though a few of the others I'd shift around, giving the next highest ratings to "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington," "Destry Rides Again," "Rope," "Winchester '73," "Harvey," 'The Naked Spur," "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "Vertigo," "Anatomy Of A Murder," and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (but not necessarily in this order).

Another personal favorite - "Mr. Krueger's Christmas" (definitely not a classic, not even Hollywood.
Were the ratings on the overall movie's quality or his acting performance quality? I'm certainly glad you included "Liberty Valance" in the top ten.

Another AFI Legend. So I have seen 35 of these 52 movies. Favorites most of the Top 6...Sorry Vertigo...I like you....but do not love you like I love Rear Window, Wonderful Life, Philadelphia Story and Liberty V. Other tidbits....fun to see Kurt Russell's name on the poster for #47 Fool's Parade. Fool''s Parade was Stewart's last leading role (at least in movies that got released in theaters). Ones I want to see...#51 Bandolero and #43 Two Rode Together....you would think Stewart, Widmark and John Ford would have a higher rated movie. Another great video....which I voted up and shared.

Hi Bruce, thanks again for the vote, share and comment, always appreciated. Your tally of 35 just beats my 34, Flora has seen an astounding 48 movies from this list. Just 4 films out. We have the same no.1 - It's a Wonderful Life - Frank Capra beats Hitchcock, how does that happen?

Hi there, looking at my files Winchester 73 had exactly the same score as Shop Around the Corner - 8.30 - so they are both joint 10th place. Both are very popular Stewart films. When a score is exactly the same I usually put the earlier movie in front. What I should have done is add in the full score so viewers know it was a tie. Thanks for posting!
