To kick off summer, our metal band I Prevail headlined the most chaotic cruise gig ever, Shiprocked 2024. From shows being canceled, to hurricane weather threatening to sink the ship, chilling with the guys from Beartooth, and even a close encounter with a kidnapping, our trip to Jamaica was nothing short of a wild rockstar experience. Hey man awesome stuff! Are you using a GoPro? Would really like to know what your camera setup is.. also are you getting a board feed to record the audio of the gig to add to the video?
There's a small typo on that page. "Drummer who want to focus on song learning but feel stuck." "Drummer" isn't plural.
If you're ever on a boat again and feel seasick, go to the back of the boat, look at the horizon, put some pressure on your wrist (where you feel your pulse) and the sick feeling will gradually disappear.
I love these POV's so much. I'm not even a drummer or a metal/rock guy. But still amazing to see the perspective of a Bandmember.

These guys are awesome. Their music is heavy but has a unique positive vibe to it and all the guys are super positive as well. I'm thrilled that hey are becoming more successful and hope they become huge headliners one day because they deserve it.

I have to admit prior to Oct 1 2023 I never heard of "I Prevail", but they were one of the opening acts for Godsmack and rocked the house for sure. High energy, High output from these guys!!

24:58 The beat where you hit the bell of the hi hats is so sick. I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually do that in context of a full song, especially in a heavy one.
That pep talk was very nice of you to do. The way you didn't hesitate to speak to him about it was amazing. I can't say for sure what Poggi was feeling, but I've been there too. So, anxious that my hands were shaking a minute before I performed my piano piece (which uses my hands lol), I found that it wasn't as bad as it seemed. I'm very sure that reassured him, way to go Gabe!
Love your videos dude. Not only do I enjoy the POV of playing in a concert but I love the "in-between" POV stuff to make the music happen. Anticipating the show, setting up, getting pumped up before running out there, rocking your balls off, running off stage, unwinding... Just musicians having a good time and working hard. Living my dream.

I'm just so fascinated with the juxtaposition of the reality of being a touring musican versus the way people imagine it is. People imagine it as glamorous and decadent, but you are just going from hotel to hotel, sitting in boring rooms waiting... and waiting. Then explosion of energy!!! ... then riding back to the hotel room, sitting in boring rooms, waiting... and waiting.
Great story, and to end it with a show like that, feeling like I'm sitting right behind the drums playing them. That's some top notch story telling right there bro. Good stuff! Truly

I've played the guitar with my band for a few hundred in the local pub, and watching y'all play from the drums PoV with over 20 times the crowd I've faced and even more, is very damn cool. Love the content, keep it up guys! One of the most unique channels out there.

Finishing a show in a random bar or club then walking out to hang with the wife and the band is already an awesome feeling. I can't imagine getting out of that set, after all the trouble you did, and walking right out into vacation. Must have been a nice relief to hit that first step off the boat! As always these videos are amazing.
My son and his wife, Zach and Steevi, were on this cruise. They said they played roulette with you and the band. Crazy stories for sure!

I've been playing guitar since I was 6 or 7 years old and played in a few bands with Pogis mindset.
But just what you've said, that's really inspiring for me, because otherwise I was always afraid of making mistakes. But you're right. It doesn't matter whether you're a world-class musician, a hobby musician or in a school band. Because they all have one thing in common: they are all just human, and humans make mistakes, which is the most human thing of all.

Yes, i would love a full POV of Hurricane. I haven't bien drumming for over a decade, but hearing your drum part on this song made me want to play again because of how fun it sounds to play it.
Big fan of your content dude! Young, aspiring musicians need to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of being a professional musician! It's a LOT of work and much of it is not glamorous at all! You seem to be genuinely nice guy. I’m glad today’s musicians seem to be more interactive with the fans. I was a pro drummer throughout the eighties up until 06, then decided it was enough, yes the party in the eighties was epic but most pros would snub their fans thinking they were above and beyond anyone else, not all but 9 out of 10 were, things have changed for the better in that aspect.

Disappointed we only got one show from you but we all understand. It was our first time seeing I prevail and damn that show was 🔥🔥🔥 That perfomance won me over as a fan and i will definitely be catching I Prevail live again.
Im so sorry you guys had such a rough trip. I really hope that you still consider returning in the future. This was a freak weather event and isnt the normal shiprocked experience.
Our bus driver bailed on our whole tour group at around 3 or 4pm and left us at a souvenir shop. After a few hours of uncertainty we luckily found another tour bus and squeezed on for a ride back to the ship when it returned.
But even with all that i booked for 2025. I will be back every year. There is no better community than shiprocked. And we are loyal to shiprocked bands.
Lastly that wasnt a random fan you pointed out. That was Cookie the cruise director lmao.
Imagine if the shuttle coming to pick you up after the show was the same that you screamed your lungs out at XD
