YES! I actually use this word to describe myself due to having never had a broken bone or serious injury. I spent so many years disliking my body because I've never been thin, but now I love my body because it has kept me safe my entire life!

I really appreciated the first woman’s take on being bulky and strong. Additionally, I also really appreciated you mentioning your arms being called bulky and how you embrace your strong built arms. I’ve been lifting for over 2 years now and this summer I noticed how bulky my arms look in tank tops in photos and it has bothered me a bit to see my arm size next to other women’s petite arms. I’m going to work on reframing my mindset to appreciate my strong bulky arms!! ❤

I see a slow bulk ahead (hopefully a little muscle as well as a little bit of blubber to keep me warm :D) and I couldn't give a shiny shite!

"If you're walking around downtown one day and you see a free $100 bill on the ground, don't trust it. If there really was a $100 bill free for the taking downtown in broad daylight, it wouldn't still be there."

banded exercises, for example lateral band walks, have their uses. they're pretty cool to target muscle in different ways and also target muscles which aren't used in major lifts. and especially with bad knees, strengthening all these small muscles around knees and hips can be very helpful. these exercises don't grow glutes or anything like that for sure, but they help to feel better. i do things like these after my leg day which is just nice relaxing way to finish off the workout

okay im only 5 mins in and i already have some thoughts lol
im so annoyed with the obsession of being "skinny" that society has on women. i grew up very skinny, i quite literally gotta be in a surplus constantly if i want to gain weight. i used to get called names from ppl that i gotta "eat more" or "omg ur so skinny" (in a negative way) even though i eat 2800+ calories.
the only reason i get compliments or attention from men (or ppl in general) is bc of my body, thats all they see. they ignore my facial features and my personality. at the end of the day, i dont want to be known for being skinny. social media has created such a false reality of what its like. ive struggled with self confidence my whole life.
while ive been at the gym for a while now and have gotten stronger, but before that i struggled lifting and carrying stuff. it really isnt all "that"
being skinny doesnt automatically solve all of ur problems, the self confidence and accepting urself is a lot of work, it can take years and it starts from within, not ur weight or scale.

I got very thin due to a medication, and I have never felt worse about myself (I'm 5'5 and I was around 100 lbs ). If I got dressed up I felt like a little kid wearing my mom's clothes. My weight went back to normal after stopping the meds and since then my goal is to be fit and strong. Feeling weak is not something I would ever want again!

Justina, where would a beginner start for information? I know some anatomy from college but not much about fitness. When I say beginner I mean, I actually have to Google words and phrases after watching your videos. Like "progressive overload" and "training to failure". Where does someone like me start because it's all so overwhelming?

For the “speak the client’s language” point, I would say I agree, but it’s still better for the client to clarify what toning is for them (since it’s gonna be different for each person) and for the coach to explain what’s toning truly means even if the client didn’t care to learn.

my issue with ppl going "this is useless, that is useless, build strength": they ignore that it's not all about throwing weights around and getting built like a brick shithouse. especially for a beginner, that might even struggle with the smallest weights. for me, working out has also been about finding my balance (literally, I'm clumsy af) and in general learning about my body. I also have a better idea about what works for me and what doesn't. and I can't train like an athlete, bc I am not a goddamn athlete! I'm a nerd with asthma who just wants to avoid a broken hip in later life.

Saying certain exercises are good for DR but not talking about breathing or bracing is like saying lateral raises are good for your shoulders so you should do them right after a shoulder injury. DR is a serious medical condition that gets little to no support in the US medical system, and another woman is out here saying it’s equivalent to some lower belly fat so you should just start doing whatever? Please please please if you are worried about ab separation after giving birth do not take your advice from social media

Yes, this is something that is best done under the care of a physical therapist. I got treatment prescribed for a prolapse after birth and it helped me so much getting back a functioning pelvic floor. The focus was on activating the deep muscles and actually feeling which muscles you have to work. It did include exercises similar to what was in the video, but also Kegel's, back exercises, and body awareness exercises. In Germany, there are course offerings by midwives, birth clinics, and physical therapists for women after birth to strengthen pelvic, stomach, and back muscles. I think the US medical system could learn from other countries about women's health in this respect.

The first video hit me so hard, I nearly fell out of my chair lol. As someone who battled with an*rexia, before recovering and becoming strong and "bulky," I am fully aware how society viewed my body when I was dangerously thin and weak versus now, when I'm visibly strong. I am WAY healthier, more energized, and stronger than ever before. I can run miles on end, lift heavy, and kick very hard if I ever needed to. And yet, the unhealthy version of me was closer to society's beauty standard... It's crazy how women are expected to be ''dainty and fragile'' when it feels so much better to be more than that.
Also, I have very broad shoulders and strong muscular arms, and people loveee to point it out. It makes me feel insecure and unfeminine at times, but I'd never trade them for my old arms, because I can do hundreds of push-ups with them and it feels AMAZING to be able to do things like that. I feel like a superhero! :D
Thank you so much for your video and your positive messages Justina
