I recently saw someone say their desired physique is “bitch who fights bears”….and now that’s my goal too lol
Especially if we’re choosing between then man or the bear 😂
Also for the record, I love my man (Kevin) and he is a good one ❤️
I like the shift of using the word bulky to be a positive thing for women, but let’s also add STURDY to the mix, because I want to make sure my body can handle most of what life throws my way!!
YES STURDY BITCHES UNITE
Sturdy is good as well. I am just happy with "strong", though. I'd like to be a strong woman.
Me too. Nothing wrong with having visible muscles
can we also add "stocky" and "hardy" in there too? Because my family are a stocky, hardy breed and we will always be short with broad shoulders😅
But dang can we withstand a strong wind!
YES! I actually use this word to describe myself due to having never had a broken bone or serious injury. I spent so many years disliking my body because I've never been thin, but now I love my body because it has kept me safe my entire life!
I really appreciated the first woman’s take on being bulky and strong. Additionally, I also really appreciated you mentioning your arms being called bulky and how you embrace your strong built arms. I’ve been lifting for over 2 years now and this summer I noticed how bulky my arms look in tank tops in photos and it has bothered me a bit to see my arm size next to other women’s petite arms. I’m going to work on reframing my mindset to appreciate my strong bulky arms!! ❤
not everyday is perfect mentally, but I keep reminding myself what's more important and it helps :)
I totally love the first woman... the bulky summer body woman. I love the fact that Christmas is coming and it's roast dinner season... chicken, turkey, roast beef, eggs benedict.... I see a slow bulk ahead (hopefully a little muscle as well as a little bit of blubber to keep me warm :D) and I couldn't give a shiny shite!
I get so annoyed with people who promote any one random ingredient like turmeric or rosemary and say it will simple ELIMINATE a specific concern. Nobody would have bad skin or hair or be overweight ever if it really worked that way
Right??? If it worked don’t you think we’d all be doing it?? 😂
I always loved the old adage from the finance world, (which has a lot of parallels with the health & fitness world with get-rich-quick scams and get in shape quick scams)
"If you're walking around downtown one day and you see a free $100 bill on the ground, don't trust it. If there really was a $100 bill free for the taking downtown in broad daylight, it wouldn't still be there."
Sis said use ECCENTRIC movements, ie, weird and kooky moves. Think, Phoebe running like a toddler on Friends. I don't know, I'm here for that. 😂
hahahahahha
I wasn't expecting to be hit so hard from the get go!!! This was so good
That first one hit me too lol
I love that every time you mention sex and gender are different you tell people to leave if they don’t like that distinction ❤
I don’t want hateful people here. It’s a safe space. Grateful for you ❤️
I’ve noticed that boomers seem to have the hardest time with this concept. I’m a millennial and it seems perfectly obvious to me that sex and gender are two distinct things but my boomer parents seem to have a really hard time separating the two for some reason and act like I’m speaking a foreign language when I try to explain it. It’s like talking to someone from another planet sometimes…
@@moviecats_😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The first one is radical. Right on! But also, I need to hear/see this message with more visual evidence of the actual righteous bulk.
I don't care about being bulky or skinny or toned, I care about being strong.
THIS
I like strong. Why? because bulky, skinny, and toned are about appearance. Again, as women, we are judged by what's outside. Strong, on the other side, is about function, it is about action, about being able to do things and less about appearance. I embrace strong, not bulky.
That first one was so well said. Yes!! I'm proud of my bulk and my strength after spending so many years being ashamed cuz I didn't fit the body norms even within the fitness industry.
As always, Justina is the only UA-camr who keeps me watching for more than 20 minutes, ha! 🎉
honored!
Please keep calling out bs online. It's one of the main reasons I love your content!
I really cannot believe that Tracy Anderson is still doing what she’s doing and ppl are STILL buying into it. I CAN NOT wait for your video!!
Just edited it and it’s a fun one!
Agh, so excited for your Tracy Anderson video!
I am blown away by the stretching thing. I had NO idea that it was nerve related. I swear since elementary school they’ve told us to stretch to lengthen muscles or something. Please add this to a video caused I’d love to know more as a very inflexible person lol
I think I've discussed it in various mobility videos before!
@@JustinaErcole I will have to check those out! I’m a newer subscriber ☺️
My biggest fitness/health struggle is sticking to anything. No matter how small of a change.
Mine too I can't stick to a routine . I change my workouts so much. Some people say it's cross training but I don't see results
i think the best way to start is by finding something you're really excited about!
Honestly i’d kill to have your arms. Really don’t understand what do some people keep complaining about 🤷♀️
People are scared of things that challenge the norm. And these guns challenge it 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻😂😂😂
I belly laughed, I got fired up about taking over the word "bulky", I got some insight into how I talk to my non-lifting friends about toning and so on, and... well I didn't cry, but I had to say how much I loved this video! Probably my favorite of this series so far
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Amen to this video! Thank you for calling out the Bull**** ,and giving us the good stuff from the people who call out the Bull****! Love it!
I once went on a 21 day water fast because people online said it fixes your gut health. I felt like death that last week but I kept at it because I’ve had gut issues for so long. Surprise surprise I still had gut issues. I’ve learned my lesson about listening to people online
My little brother is insistent my mom and I try a gluten free diet. I had to inform him I’ve tried at least three times in my life, and the extra sugar in a lot of GF products are the opposite of what I need. I wish there was a magic cure! But a lot of the times we got to do it the hard way…
I thought I was going to die when you said: "All that you're saying is that your mom was a scammer for 38 years". I LOVE YOU JUSTINA. ❤
hahhaha love you too
I am so happy to see your reaction to the bulky video I sent you on IG :) I knew it would resonate with you! It also made me emotional ^^
me and the rest of my family on my dad's side get 'bulky' (build muscle) with minimal effort. i know of at least 3 aunts/cousins with a history of EDs. please, lets normalise bulky!
I loved that first tiktok. Also I don't know if you've heard this yet, but thought I'd mention it since you've talked about them before, but Beachbody/Bodi is getting rid of it's multilevel marketing structure!
Haha I heard. They just realized that it’s not a good look. I still despise them 😂
@@JustinaErcole yeah, they're still a horrible company. I follow a couple of people who used to be in the company and they're predicting that the company will probably be nonexistent in a year. We can only hope.
I just wish they would go back to just selling workouts
35min? omg I love u Justina
love you too!
I am so very happy you said you should def not do back squats and rdls on the same day because there was a time I used to do that and I felt so tired I needed an energy drink to keep me going. Then I realized this is just ridiculous and I split my leg days into glutes and quads. I used to think I'm weak for not being able to do them both on the same day lmao but I feel vindicated now
oh and also def saw so much improvement in my glute growth when I did rdls and squats on different days too
I am going through a similar awakining. I am 40, so a little late to the party. I don't care if you don't find physically strong women pretty, it's not my goal to be attractive to you. As always thank you for the video Justina
thank YOU for watching!
Ahhh just got home from work, collapsed on the couch and was blessed with this video THANK YOU
Hope you enjoyed it!
HOW IS IT TIME FOR THIS VIDEO AGAIN? Where did September go? 👀
I was just thinking the same thing!!!!
My thoughts exactly... time flies...
(Insert Mariah Carey sound) IT’S TIIIIIME!
The first clip hit me right in my face. I love being bulky, I love having big biceps, being able to do pull ups, push-ups and some calisthenics stuff. I used to do some Muay Thai also and it was fucking awesome to kick the bag with my full power 😂
By the way, my husband told me today he loves me because I’m strong and smart - so yeah, you can be bulky, kick ass and still be attractive in the eyes of a man.
YOU FOUND A GOOD ONE!
I'm 3 months post partum, I'm back into fitness and feeling great, I carried my baby girl for 9 months, birthed her and I'm proud of my mommy pouch.
Actually your reaction to that last tiktok had me cry laughing 😂❤
I'm offended on all mothers' behalf lol
Thank you because your videos are super informative and every time I learn something new.
And then as an Italian I can understand you almost without problems 🤓
$900 a MONTH?!?!?! Good God how are people affording this unless they’re beyond rich?
Exactly. They're rich lol
@@JustinaErcole 😂😂 I don’t ever wanna reach a level of wealth where I think it’s acceptable to spend more than my monthly car payment on a monthly gym membership.
The way my jaw hit the floor when I read that
Holy $900 that’s way too much
@@KathehFIT it’s pure insanity! I’m sorry but regardless of how rich someone is how’s any program worth quite that much?!
banded exercises, for example lateral band walks, have their uses. they're pretty cool to target muscle in different ways and also target muscles which aren't used in major lifts. and especially with bad knees, strengthening all these small muscles around knees and hips can be very helpful. these exercises don't grow glutes or anything like that for sure, but they help to feel better. i do things like these after my leg day which is just nice relaxing way to finish off the workout
I agree that they have a time and place! Personally, I find they don't address the underlying issues of my clients so I stay away from them :)
Heroin chic (or that while thin and cardio focus) left me with back pain, weak, and not able to function well. Feel so better with embracing lifting heavy, eating protein rich, and gettin some muscles. Feel soooo good. Women, embrace getting stringer, not necessarily as a politIcal statement, but just for your basic health and fucntioning.
Getting stronger
Everything women do is political, it's exhausting. I like not shaving, but apparently me being comfortable is an offensive political statement. I'm tired.
This.
The 2nd video 100000% I agree with her. She’s on point. Coaching calling bs are my jam.
Also the whole thing with with glute grow! What you said about having certain moves all in the same day. Have you spoke about this in a more in-depth video if so please share with me! Would love to learn more. Isn’t crazy I’m learning more with you than I learn in school about these things. 😢
LOL about the nutritionist-you should connect with Brianna Jewel's UA-cam channel. She is now a "registered dietician" and for the last few years she opened her channel with registered dietician "to be," but now she is official. She also breaks down the BS with influencers, bad workouts, etc. She was a personal trainer while putting herself through her Master's program. You are both so no BS and honest.
love Briannah!
That first one hit solid! YES! Let's have a bulky girl fall (cause it's not summer anymore).
Great video as always!!! Absolutely love this series and I think it's great that there are people calling out fitness bs :)
Re bulkiness - I'm a dancer and was also scared to get "bulky" from working out (though I also suck at maintaining a consistent gym habit lol I will happily be in the dance studio 5 days a week but struggle to get to the gym) BUT then I started pole dancing and within a few months gained a lot of upper body muscle and I am obsessed with my arms now lol. I also love having stronger arms and more arm endurance!
Love that shift!
The way I cackled at dubbell lol. I love these videos!
I'm so grateful for these videos. Since when I started doing your workouts, I can really see what you mean and in every exercise I can find a reference to these videos! You deserve much more recognition ❤
That’s so sweet thank you!
Juicy!!! This video was hilarious, cheers Justina for the laugh!
You’re so welcome!
Dubbells: adding dub-step to your workout 🤘
Wait I’m suddenly into it
Always a delight when these videos drop :)
Justina you are amazing and thankkkkkk you for calling out the BS and making me laugh out loud!!
You’re so welcome!
My favorite time of the month, ha ha! I can’t do high impact, I think I heard you say kettlebells are good for low impact power moves?
100%! There’s a TON of low impact power drills out there.
Hey Justina ! Would you be able to do a video based on what to expect when gaining muscle/ losing fat ? Maybe to include things most people don’t talk about during their fitness journey:)
Possibly! Honestly I’m not too sure what the video would be about. Did you have any specific questions?
@@JustinaErcolePersonally my questions involve changes that don’t involve the scale. Like my clothes will fit tighter in some areas but looser in others , being more hungry , not wanting to eat the same foods I used to ( because my body just doesn’t want it lol ), etc. I know personally I experience a lot of changes and never know what’s normal or not.
@@kglatt_ got it! I will say, it's SUUUUUUPER specific to each person how they react to body changes. Some people feel hungrier, some don't. Some people have taste changes, some don't. Some people see the scale move quickly, some don't. It's all really specific to each person and there's so many other factors like sleep, nutrition choices, stress daily movement, etc. I'll brainstorm though and see if there's something cohesive and helpful I could put together!
@@JustinaErcole awesome thanks for your responses :)
@@kglatt_yes I find I get really bloated in the belly sometimes after lifting heavy
I love this format for your videos! I mean I love them all but this and your workouts are probably my favorites 😁! Thank you for what you do!!
oh wow thanks ashley!
I love you. That is all. Ok wait, not all: my favorite comment from this video: “I’m sweating.” 😅 You bring me - and obviously a lot of other people - so much joy, laughter, knowledge, common sense, and comfort / validation. 🙏🏻
hahahaha i was getting heated
When I was really into a good program before I was injured, i definitely bulked up and didn’t care. I was working with large dogs, and women I ran into gave me compliments regularly. I could not have been more pleased to be told I had “Popeye muscles”. Lol
okay im only 5 mins in and i already have some thoughts lol
im so annoyed with the obsession of being "skinny" that society has on women. i grew up very skinny, i quite literally gotta be in a surplus constantly if i want to gain weight. i used to get called names from ppl that i gotta "eat more" or "omg ur so skinny" (in a negative way) even though i eat 2800+ calories.
the only reason i get compliments or attention from men (or ppl in general) is bc of my body, thats all they see. they ignore my facial features and my personality. at the end of the day, i dont want to be known for being skinny. social media has created such a false reality of what its like. ive struggled with self confidence my whole life.
while ive been at the gym for a while now and have gotten stronger, but before that i struggled lifting and carrying stuff. it really isnt all "that"
being skinny doesnt automatically solve all of ur problems, the self confidence and accepting urself is a lot of work, it can take years and it starts from within, not ur weight or scale.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Our bodies are the least interesting thing about us ❤️
I have osteoarthritis in my knees, and banded monster walks and lateral walks (though the band is around my ankles) is part of my PT.
I’m glad your PT prescribed you something that helps! Like I said in the video, there’s a time and a place for them :)
best content i’ve seen today. meaning, the hot takes. 🔥🔥
so glad you enjoyed!
Okay I thought it was pooch but that last one said pouch. Huh? Like a kangaroo? Let’s get on the same page, people!
Not me literally doing barbell squats and RDLs yesterday and walking around with the back of a 70yr old today 🤦🏽♀️😂 This makes way more sense. I guess there’s always the future to try and do better
Hhahaha to be fair, I’ve been there and done that
This is what I'd say to the creator who claimed "cortisol face" is a thing and it makes you "ugly": You aren't unqualified and dumb, you just have TikTok brain.
OR they're a grifter. They get a commission from their sales on that product. They don't care if they're right or wrong, they're making a profit.
Love the term tiktok brain
I got very thin due to a medication, and I have never felt worse about myself (I'm 5'5 and I was around 100 lbs ). If I got dressed up I felt like a little kid wearing my mom's clothes. My weight went back to normal after stopping the meds and since then my goal is to be fit and strong. Feeling weak is not something I would ever want again!
So glad you’re feeling better!!
Fabulous video! I’ve always had big arms - now I have big muscly arms and funnily enough doing Tracey Anderson’s videos for months when I was younger did not help change the shape of them 😂
I had a personal training session once where I was told that my quads are so big that when my group fitness classmates do lunges, I should find something else to do. I smiled, nodded, and when I left the room I laughed my (bulky) ass off. Right, lady.
holy shit absolutely not
Hahahahaha, 'dubbells" I absolutely CACKLED.
I was like SERIOUSLY?
I've seen so many of these clips and hoped you would be discussing them (especially the rapid spread of cortisol face)
Look forward to more silly nonsense next month!!! ❤
12:29 Justina, you are seriously not alone! I'm so glad you posed this! ❤
I've seen so many people get dooped by the snake oil BS. It's just like MLMs. I feel that if schools would make basic and advanced nutrition classes mandatory, more people would be able to see the BS for what it is!
#LayneNorton4president! 😂👌
I feel like people don’t realize that the health and “wellness” industry is a billion dollar industry for a reason which is from manipulating people insecurities! Proof is 900 a MONTH for a gym membership, um what? That’s monthly rent. Also just want to add I was so excited to see a 30+ minute video on your channel and was not disappointed 🥰 you’ve really helped me have a more effecient workout program
so happy to have helped!!
Justina, where would a beginner start for information? I know some anatomy from college but not much about fitness. When I say beginner I mean, I actually have to Google words and phrases after watching your videos. Like "progressive overload" and "training to failure". Where does someone like me start because it's all so overwhelming?
Honestly I think the best place is just following people who like to educate the basics! You'll learn more over time :)
For the “speak the client’s language” point, I would say I agree, but it’s still better for the client to clarify what toning is for them (since it’s gonna be different for each person) and for the coach to explain what’s toning truly means even if the client didn’t care to learn.
Agreed. I always ask clients more about their goals. I don’t just base programming off of one word.
Anabolic window was prived to be IR in many cases, definitely fir those who don't workout constantly. Nothing wrong will happen of you eat 2 hours from your workout instead of 1 hour from the workout.
Yep!
I was underweight for most of my life, I started weightlifting about 3 years ago and while I am a healthy weight now I still feel so weak.
I’m hypermobile (I’m suspicious that it might actually be EDS) and I injured myself so easily .. but I’m sticking at it and someday I hope I will feel strong!
Check out Kinstretch! It does wonders for individuals with hyper mobility.
I don't really get influencers' obsession with going "ghost mode." You don't need to disappear into the mountains to (checks list) have a deliberate fitness routine, walk regularly, limit alcohol intake, and prioritize sleep.
Agreed! But apparently that doesn’t sell 🙄
Great job at keeping it real.❤❤❤
thanks :)
From being 5.5 stone (whatever it is in pounds sorry I'm British!) from my eating disorder, I feel so much better now being 'bulky'. Way stronger, healthier and happier than I was in my 20s (I'm 36).
Stephanie I’m so proud of you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am bulky...some fat but muscle too. I am not ashamed of my muscles, I like them. Anyone who thinks I'm too bulky can pound sand. I'll be lifting the rest of my life. 💗💗 These vids were great!
THANK YOU FOR TOUCHING ON THE TERM NUTRITIONIST IM TIRED OF IT - sincerely a fed up dietitian❤️😂
broooo "bulky bitch fall" make me cackle
let's goooooo!
The “ghost mode” girl had a point tho … SPOOKY SEASON 👻
Hahahaha fair point
Love the first one!!!
Me toooo!
Loved the first two videos. But that one with the dubbells. The person who made this must be from Chicago and was using talk to text: Da Bells. It's our accent, Justina! Don't shame us lol
😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao I adore your commentary
i'm glad you enjoyed!
my issue with ppl going "this is useless, that is useless, build strength": they ignore that it's not all about throwing weights around and getting built like a brick shithouse. especially for a beginner, that might even struggle with the smallest weights. for me, working out has also been about finding my balance (literally, I'm clumsy af) and in general learning about my body. I also have a better idea about what works for me and what doesn't. and I can't train like an athlete, bc I am not a goddamn athlete! I'm a nerd with asthma who just wants to avoid a broken hip in later life.
100%! Not everyone has the same goals or even starting point, and coaches need to remember that.
me with my 2,5h lower body workout, consisting of mainly compound lifts, when i hear about not having demanding exercises on the same day:💀🙏🏻
omggggg that's a long workout!
New goal to be a bulky, strong, sturdy B, so that i can scare people with my 5 foot massive muscles!! 😅😅
YAS FELLOW BULKY SHORTY
I like that is now levels of ‘spicy’ 😂
Why are people hating on the tummy pouch, giving women even more to be insecure about? What’s wrong with having one anyway?
Justina you had to start with a hard hitter 😂
that was an accident lol
Great video, new subscriber! Thank you for calling out the bs!
so happy to have you here!
Oh no the Tracie fans are gonna come for you because of their 'dancer arms' lol
😂😂😂
Saying certain exercises are good for DR but not talking about breathing or bracing is like saying lateral raises are good for your shoulders so you should do them right after a shoulder injury. DR is a serious medical condition that gets little to no support in the US medical system, and another woman is out here saying it’s equivalent to some lower belly fat so you should just start doing whatever? Please please please if you are worried about ab separation after giving birth do not take your advice from social media
THIS. RIGHT. HERE.
Yes, this is something that is best done under the care of a physical therapist. I got treatment prescribed for a prolapse after birth and it helped me so much getting back a functioning pelvic floor. The focus was on activating the deep muscles and actually feeling which muscles you have to work. It did include exercises similar to what was in the video, but also Kegel's, back exercises, and body awareness exercises. In Germany, there are course offerings by midwives, birth clinics, and physical therapists for women after birth to strengthen pelvic, stomach, and back muscles. I think the US medical system could learn from other countries about women's health in this respect.
Your arms are goals.
thanks!
That first woman kicks emotional and physical ass
Thank you for calling out the content with a ton of tiny text over a video that people have to watch over and over to read it all... this is just gaming their views and isn't really designed to HELP anyone. (Especially when it's a ton of text over a butt video.)
SPIIIICCYYY and I LOVE IT 🔥
Glad you enjoyed Amanda!
The first video hit me so hard, I nearly fell out of my chair lol. As someone who battled with an*rexia, before recovering and becoming strong and "bulky," I am fully aware how society viewed my body when I was dangerously thin and weak versus now, when I'm visibly strong. I am WAY healthier, more energized, and stronger than ever before. I can run miles on end, lift heavy, and kick very hard if I ever needed to. And yet, the unhealthy version of me was closer to society's beauty standard... It's crazy how women are expected to be ''dainty and fragile'' when it feels so much better to be more than that.
Also, I have very broad shoulders and strong muscular arms, and people loveee to point it out. It makes me feel insecure and unfeminine at times, but I'd never trade them for my old arms, because I can do hundreds of push-ups with them and it feels AMAZING to be able to do things like that. I feel like a superhero! :D
Thank you so much for your video and your positive messages Justina
I’m so proud of you ❤️❤️❤️
34:33 I am deeeeeaaaaad hahaha and I’m 11 months postpartum
thank you for your content🫶🏽
I get so self conscious and upset about my arms in photos. I hope to, one day, come to accept how they look! Because they are strong and allow me to carry my almost 30lb 16 month old
it takes time and not everyday is perfect, but keep reminding yourself of how strong your body is to support you AND baby!
Girrrl, your videos of late! Absolutely NO NOTES!! 🔥 Why is it so hard to come by common sense folks?! You're doing the Lord's work here. 😂
Also, you've been looking so pretty and refreshed. 💞
aw thanks meredith!
Could you make a video about strength training for long term bone health? I did a search to see if you already had and couldn’t find anything.
That would basically be strength training, which I've made a ton of videos about! Is there something specific you want to know?
@@JustinaErcole just what you need to do if your goals are mostly for your bones. Do you need progressive overload forever and the most optimized workouts? Or can the same basic movements and dumbbells last me for years to come?
Ok this is actually super helpful! Will brainstorm on a video topic ❤️
The toning this is the same thing as the "knot" thing in massage. In my early years I tried correcting people but then I realized how unhelpful that was.
Ooooh that’s such a good example!
your arms look great lmao
thanks!
Haha, I love that guys shirt at the 5 minute mark! Mediocre and still strong over here!
