  • What makes a luxury candle? Branding. Experience. Ingredients. - These are the core fundamentals that make up a luxury line. Your brand, story, aesthetic is important, as is the experience someone has when they receive and use your candles. Today we will be focusing on the quality of ingredients, and the technique used to apply these quality ingredients into a beautiful work of art.

    Thank you got this video, so informative , new to candle making and have been using coconut apricot wax, with wood wicks at 12 percent fragrance load. I was getting minimal hot throw despite a good cold throw, and I was on the verge of throwing in the towel! Excited to step down my fragrance load and see me results! Thank you 🙏🏽

    I had no idea that less is more when it comes to fragrance oil in wooden wick candles! I’ve been making mine with 12% and was getting barely any hot throw and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Thank you!!

    • @HawthornCompany
      @HawthornCompany  3 роки тому +4

      Oh yes! 12% is great with cotton but my throw is stronger with wood at 7-9%. Apparently clogging your wood wick with FO is a real thing lol. It was a frustrating and expensive lesson to learn 😂

    I loved the video and again your aesthetic. Can you do a video on measuring 3-4 different FO to create your own blend? I can do equal parts easy, it's when I try doing the math for two equal parts and the other two wanting lower amounts lol if that makes sense.

    • @HawthornCompany
      @HawthornCompany  3 роки тому +3

      Yes absolutely that makes perfect sense. Ironically enough I struggled with this too lmao I had to figure out the math for it first, especially when converting drops to percentages when testing out small tester blends first. I’ll definitely include that into a video!

  • @pam2170

    love the tutorial, so thorough! I have a question, how long do you burn your candle before you achieve a full melt pool for that size vessel? thank you!

    • @HawthornCompany
      @HawthornCompany  3 роки тому +1

      3-4 hours but 4 hours is ideal. These vessels taper to 3” at the bottom so it’s better to have a slow melt pool at the top because the vessel gets smaller at the bottom

    • @cakebliss9104
      @cakebliss9104 3 роки тому

      @@HawthornCompany Thank you, do you recommend using .02 booster wick .75? I think I’ve been doing it all wrong, thinking that I should achieve a full melt pool in 2 hrs with this size vessel when I’ve reached a full melt pool in about 3-4 hrs. Thanks again!

    • @HawthornCompany
      @HawthornCompany  3 роки тому +1

      If you’re using virgin coco soy or coco apricot then yes a .02 booster .75 in either crackling or whisper would be perfect. Some oils may need a .625 though, just depends on how hot it burns

      It depends on what wax you are using, and your fragrance oil.
      Coconut apricot créme .02 crackling booster .75 with 8% fragrance
      Virgin coco soy 02 whisper booster .75 with 8% fragrance
      Pure soy wax (464, etc) I haven’t tried yet, but I’d imagine .04 crackling booster wick .625 with 8-10% oil
