    Oakland arena actually holds quite a lot of concerts. I think that San Francisco as a market can definitely support two indoor arenas, also the Oakland arena is way easier to get to via BART or via car than Chase centre.

      The mistake with that was not making it a dome/retractable roof. That was why the new stadium was built and the old one converted to a football/soccer stadium.

    Kansas City is actually getting a Pro Volleyball Federation team in 2025 and I’d imagine they will play at T-Mobile arena. Yeah it’s not NHL or NBA, but as a KC resident I’m just glad SOMEONE is finally moving in 😂 I’m actually very much looking forward to the PVF coming to KC!

    Those arenas can make money doing concerts and other events so usually are kept around until replaced. For example, Seattles arena for the Sonics did just fine for many years before being rebuilt for the NHL.

    I would have thought with the Warriors moving across the bay, the Oracle Arena site would have been a site to consider for a new A's stadium. The location is excellent form a standpoint of being able to get fans in before the game and out after the game (access to freeways and BART). It's also close to the Oakland airport. With the A's seemingly headed for Las Vegas, I see the Coliseum site as potentially one of the best development sites in Oakland that will be available in the foreseeable future. The key thing to consider would be seismic issues and whether there is a significant risk of liquefaction in the event of a major earthquake stronger than the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989.

    I have a strong hunch that the nordiques will be playing at center videotron center when Quebec gets an nhl team

    • @Steve_Hunts96
      @Steve_Hunts96 5 місяців тому

      HIGHLY doubt Quebec gets that team back with how the NHL is approaching expansion. The Canadian dollar has put the country on the financial back burner for one, and 2, the NHL is more interested in expanding to untapped NHL markets (SLC, Houston, why they went to Vegas, etc), reason being because they want to grow the game. The Nordiques coming back, while sure would be returning a team to what certainly is a traditional hockey market, does not exactly grow the game, nor is a financially sound decision by the NHL due to the Canadian dollar, plus the NON-GUARANTEE of the Quebec City area consistently selling out the building so the NHL does make money in what is already a very small market (Winnipeg & Ottawa are having trouble filling their buildings, in traditional markets).
      The odds of Quebec getting their team back are almost completely zero, but MAYBE there’s an outside chance of their return… would be very surprised if it happened though.

    The videotron centre will get a CEBL team (Canadian professional basketball league). It draws around 7,000 to 10,000 fans per game. Plus I think the Quebec should lobby for an NLL team.

  • @kurtisokc

    Just because an arena doesn’t host a major league team doesn’t mean that it is vacant. The T-Mobile Center has already justified its existence as a major concert venue. If it eventually attracts an NBA or NHL team that would be the cherry on top, but even if it doesn’t it still will have served its purpose.

    Camping World is not vacant. It is used for The Citrus Bowl and Pro Bowl among others. Monster Trucks etc. It was the home of UCF until they built the new facility. Sorry, but I think you are not very informed about the Georgia State stadium. I like your videos but this makes me wonder if you need to spend a little more time on research. State was previously at the Georgia Dome which was far too big for them - even the renovated Turner Field is too big given the tiny crowd when I went there last fall for their game against JMU. But they picked up Turner Field when the Braves moved to the suburbs and the conversion is perfect for their needs as a Group of Five program.
    Far from them leaving that stadium, my guess is that it is highly unlikely that will happen. They are involved in a lot of mixed used development that is transforming the surrounding neighborhood. So many of the old Turner Field and, even going further back, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium parking lots are being redeveloped. There is brand new retail that has opened in the last 18 months or so on the opposite corner from the stadium. New housing has been built in the immediate vicinity and I just read an article on Urbanize yesterday that more just north of the stadium is being planned. They built their brand new basketball arena on the far end of the old Atlanta Fulton County stadium lots on the road that leads to the downtown. And there are plans to redevelop the old Atlanta-Fulton County stadium footprint into a new State baseball and softball complex. I think it is highly, highly doubtful they would abandon Turner Field and they likely do not have the funds to tear it down and build a new stadium of similar size when Turner is very functional. In fact, the delay in the baseball/softball complex is reported to be due to a lack of funding.
    Also, there is the potential to host other events there. Drum Corps International has moved its annual Atlanta show to State. And there have had high school playoffs that have used the facility, though the state title games moved back to Mercedes-Benz this past fall.

The NJ Sports Hall of Fame is still in the Box Office and not open to the public unfortunately. I think its embarrassing for the league to be okay with the Coyotes playing in a 5,000 seat arena and be a clearly money hemorrhaging organization for years and years, yet let Quebec City which would be like another Winnipeg with a strong fanbase and passion for the game sit with an empty new arena.
