So glad to see you back. Never lose your passion and positivity. As a guy from another generation, there seems to be less young men like you out there. Thanks for the video and hope to see more soon! I’m a little too old to get into this bfs stuff, but a floating Rapala on open face has always been productive for me.
Ha. Nice video. Not that I'm Mr. know all things regarding fishing / the fishing authority or anything close, but I found the timing of this video very interesting. I am in total agreement with the tactics used here. I was fishing yesterday, after 3 days of off and on rain. I also use the i fish jig heads and some Mule fishing plastics together. Yesterday was a 1.25 gram paired with a horse fly. I wasn't catching anything so I went to my back up. A Rebel Teeny Wee Crank. Caught several fish on that after the rain stopped. I know it's not your Mega Bass (I am a bank fisherman), but I'm also retired and on a fixed income. My 4 lure Rebel kit cost less than $10 and one of those Mega Bass Griffin's is $16. I catch fish on all 4 of the lures that come in the Rebel kit. Fun times! Thank you for sharing and your recommendations. Blessings!
Hey Chip thanks for your insight and feedback. I used the rebel crankbaits my whole childhood on ultralight! Straight from Walmart and they could not be beat. Personally, im in my early 30s, no kids and am just enjoying a few fruits of my labor during the process. So I do throw some things that are a little pricey at times. I get it with bank fishing completely, I have never thrown a crankbait over $10 from the bank if I wasn’t ready to swim for it. On the boat, I’ve yet to lose a shallow crank with my Frabill lure retriever! Hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself. But I understand your perspective completely! I was just thinking about throwing one of their grasshopper cranks soon just for old times. Idk if they still make em, but another budget friendly crank I LOVED is the Strike King bitsy wiggler. That thing caught the most bull bluegill for a crank, just waked slowly on the retrieve. I haven’t bought one in 15 years, and still have a few that I hold on to. Tight lines and stay blessed brother
@@TheUltralightLife Enjoy those fruits while you can!!! When I had a boat and a lure retriever I used more expensive lures as well. I just caught my first topwater Crickhopper fish of 2024 yesterday. They still make them and I still use them! (I use all 4 of the lures in the kit. Rebel Lures Classic Critters Crankbait Fishing Lures 4-Pack - Includes 1 Teeny Pop-R, 1 Crickhopper, 1 Teeny Wee Crawfish, and 1 Teen Wee-R). I fished the Crickhopper with a series of short pops and / or twitches and pause on the surface. Caught a nice Bluegill that way today but the one yesterday was EPIC! A Crappie SMASHED it topwater! I've caught several Crappie on surface baits in the past two years. I never have before. Maybe something in the water here at the pond I fish. That Strike King Bitsy Wiggler was discontinued. You can still buy them on ebay, but I'm not a fan of that site. My son got burned two too many times there! You know, it's not like we don't have other options! Just sayin'. ..but I know exactly how you feel about a lute that really worked for you. I still have a few tiny crawfish baits that I purchased from Toledo tackle in Louisiana 40 years ago. I won 2 tournaments using that lure and they were discontinued by Toledo Tackle. The closest thing I've found is one made by Big Bire Baits. I just tried one today and caught several fish on it paired with... drum roll... a 1.25 g BG-1 from i fish. Slight nip of the tail end and super glue. Gotta love it! Sorry for the book! It's most likely the "teacher" part of me trying to sneak it's way out. I really am enjoying your channel! I just found yours and Victor's a few weeks ago. Blessings.
Great question! The air ags takes the crown for this class no question. I just switch it up from time to time to get a new feel. Will do an updated vid on the air ags because it’s so perfect soon

Nice video,What fishing rod do you use?
Check out the bass pro Crappie Maxx Hi-Vis Camo Fishing Line. 4 pound, smooth, no memory, and has a clear 2.5’ leader
I’ll have to check it out!
I miss my mom also!
🙏🙏
Do you prefer this reel/rod combo you are using on this video for the class of fishing you normally do or do you prefer the Air AGS setup?

Just bought the same dobyns rod you using here. Waiting to get the new aldebaran bfs 24 😬
Why don't they recommend this type of rods for saltwater fishing? What could be the difference?
