Love the vid Cody! Your video making gets better every time. I love that you tell what flies you use but could you show the camera up close or take a pic of it and put it on the screen? Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@qaxte8844 appreciate it! The gopro doesn't take very good up close shots of small things like flies. My phone does take good macro shots, so I'm going to make sure and include good shots of the flies in upcoming videos. Appreciate the good feedback!
Learned to fly fish many years ago on that stretch of the LP, actually caught some great holdovers over the years there, some with some great colors, few nice big colored up males. I introduced my son to fly fishing in that stretch as well, great place to take first timer’s, kids & even if you’re in town on vacation & want to get some stream time in.
The last time I was in Gatlinburg fishing, close to where mark mentioned a bear paw in the sand under the bridge, I happened to look across the river and see a bear moseying along. They have become so used to people being around them. It ended up just heading down the creek but it was interesting to watch it move along. I made sure to stay out of its way!
Awesome Cody! Was just up there this past weekend but the cold had the fish pushed down. They didn’t want anything. But I had a 27-28” fish from a bridge in July on a purple haze. It was one of the coolest eats and fights I’ve ever had
@ yes it was crazy. We were walking back to the truck and I saw the fish hanging out in a seam downstream from us. I told my dad I was going to throw at it. I messed with it forever and I started to skate the purple haze and it finally ate. My dad had to scale down and net the fish. Meanwhile there were probably 20-25 people standing around cheering lol it was insane
It was a big gnarly stocker hen with a white tank scar on her head. I talked with the guy running the booth for the parking lot again this past weekend and he said the fish is still hanging around. I’m amazed no one has kept it
The rainbow in my profile picture was caught in Gatlinburg. It is the biggest rainbow I caught on a flyrod or PB between 5 and 6 pounds! Love going there and do well on Duracell's, egg patterns and pheasant tails. Enjoyed the video.
@uni_shadow164 Thanks! You can definitely get spoiled on some big fish in Gatlinburg. I was surprised that I didn't get any sort of interest in the Duracell, that's usually a good pattern to start off with.
@ yeah definitely. Honestly after hearing some other fishermen talk about them not eating any naturals, and catching several in my first hole, I just kept on junk and sight fished a ton up. Glad to see those leaves are starting to move out, some of the piles were up past my waist in The water.
@neatsurftoo I just talked to a friend who fished up there earlier this week and he said it was on fire. I would have through the same as you with as cold as it's been.
@@jameshartness1148 it doesn't really mean the flies are 'bad', it's more of a catch-all term used to describe the flies that tend to work by eliciting a reactionary bite as opposed to matching a hatch. Examples are eggs, mop flies, leeches, squirmies, etc.
I live out in Townsend. Wonderful place to fish and live. Hell Yeah!!

Very cool! I've been avoiding getting over there, but this looks fun. Great video!
@thomaswetherington6683 thanks brother! Let's go sometime!

@@willgulley1277 they're like giant raccoons in Gatlinburg! I've heard stories of them casually walking down main street and walking into stores!

@roysoutdoors it should hopefully make it through delayed harvest at least. Congrats on that fish! Heck of a fish on a dry fly!
@@tellicooutfitters8989 I hope she does and can’t wait to get back up there again. Thanks man!
Great video, loved the intro.
@larryhudgins6988 thanks brother!

Happy b-day Mark...great vid
Good ole boys
I was down that way around when you where down there. I had a time with the fish and they are definitely more fired up than typically stockers.
@SUflyfshn-YT they can be oddly finicky at times, but once you figure out what they want, it's hard not to rack up some numbers!

Great place to take kids learning to fly fish
@grimtidings7325 absolutely! For those reading who may not be aware, there's even a kids-only section that they keep well stocked.
Wish it wasnt so dang expensive for Non-Residents to fish there. Great water though
Getting ready for the tournament I see lol . Very nice video
@@garrettmooneyham6551 that's right! Conditions may be totally different by the time the tournament rolls around, but it'll be a good time either way!
Funny that I was planing to head to Gatlinburg this weekend and this comes up. Might be too cool to fish this weekend.

Great place to catch some tanks
