- The plaintiff says he did work on the defendant’s house, but now she’s stiffing him on payment. He’s suing her for the amount he’s owed. The defendant says she never agreed to pay the plaintiff the amount he’s suing for. She claims the price went from $400 to $2,000 out of the blue. She says she owes nothing.

Either there was an affair or she wanted to have one. If you need house work you look for a reputable business on the internet. Most people don’t just find someone at a restaurant, hire that person allowing him in your home, and give him house keys. AND usually it’s the husband that finds someone and hires them. I think she saw in him the restaurant, thought he was attractive, confronted him, and once she found out he was a contractor she found jobs he could do at her house so she could further see him. And the fact that she told her husband he was family….that says it all right there! If I was her husband, I’d be very suspicious of her from now on!

I really want to know where she came up with $400. About 25 years ago, my cousin and I repainted my parents' bedroom. We had to soak and strip 2 layers of old wallpaper, wait for the walls to dry, spackle it all smooth, then apply two coats of paints to the walls and one coat to the trim. It is not a quick and easy task. There may not have been wallpaper to remove in this contractor's case, but there's no way he was going to do all paintwork, change a front door lock (and let's face it, you have to do that right since that's the main security point), *_and_* build a closet for 2/3rds the price of 25 feet of picket fence.
