      And since (legal) importation of slaves ended in 1808, most African-Americans are more 'legacy' (in terms of how long their families have been in America) than most whites. Yet somehow I don't think Tucker includes them.

      Both sides of my family, maternal and paternal, have been here since the 1630s. Those ancestors came here for a better lives, to seek religious freedom, to find new opportunities. And I don't think they went through any kind of customs or border control. I'm pretty sure they didn't ask permission to enter from the local "Legacy" Americans! And who am I to deny others from seeking what my ancestors sought?

      Growing up in Florida I had teachers ask me "what are you?" a lot. Because to them Native Anericans looked Mexican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican. I've also been told to go back where I came from. In my most Southern accent I ask, "do you mean North Carolina? I can't go back there--you'all took our land and sent my people on The Trail of Tears!" The hypocrisy is strong in them.

      @will g People who are afraid of illegals voting do NOT understand how voting works, perhaps because they, themselves, have never voted.
      In order to vote one must *register* in the place where they live and provide certain documents that illegals would not have.
      If illegals show up to vote their names must be on the voter rolls, if they are not they are turned away--they *cannot* vote.
      Dead people don't get to vote either. Every week the county board of elections receives a list of people who have died the previous week and they are culled from the voter rolls.
      Their fears are for naught.... It's a shame they allow themselves to be used by people who are trading on their lack of knowledge to keep them agitated.

      As a Chicano (Mexican-American), I can explain this. At face value without context, it sounds like “yep this is a giant coop”
      No no, lemme explain. I have illegal immigrant family members and worked with some. Mexico is VERY catholic and has a societal norm of being VERY FAMILY based (think 1960s America).
      Because Mexicans are very family based, they tend to work overtime or as much as they can to provide for their families and even give them money. My old boss who became legal even got mad at me for being Hispanic and not giving some of my money to my sister…even he was giving money to his family members every now and then for them to treat themselves
      Of course this way of thinking doesn’t hold up in America compared to Mexico…at least for now. Mexico is also struggling economically with gangs having huge control over the country. Yes they’ve tried Swat, Military, and Police to stop these gangs, but the gangs have become so powerful and ruthless that all have lost going against the many gangs of Mexico.
      Not only this, but these gangs sell drugs and economically are responsible for a HUGE amount of the economies wealth in America and Mexico (with Mexico being one of America’s biggest suppliers)
      And with Mexico being in a bad economic state, have they tried changing things? Yes! Of course it’s still bad, but it has got better in recent years. Yes Mexicans have elected people they thought would help, but with very minimal effect.
      What most people don’t realize is that a huge part of Mexicans in Mexico are white or known as Mestizos. I bring this up because the common argument I’ve heard is that “have white people go in an area and they’ll fix it up.” This is not the case as white Mexicans (European Mexicans) rule politically over Mexico with much not having changed
      Mexicans average $3.50 an hour in Mexico. Mexicans in America not only send money back to their families in Mexico because of their strong sense of supporting the family, but also because they know sending a day’s worth of work’s money to their families in Mexico will financially help them a lot considering Mexico’s economy

      Tucker is a prime example of elite talking heads that can literally say anything because ultimately they will hide in their gated community or estate while us commoners suffer the consequences of his misinformation.
      Humans need to stop infighting long enough to topple our oppressors
      Mitch McConnell is Emperor Palpatine
      Some of you will die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make! - Lord Trump
      @Justin Y. Trump is evil. He ignored this virus until he couldn't ignore it...the steps taken have been deliberately slow to contain this virus, as the government has made huge financial gains in allowing particularly older, retired people to die...no more pay outs each month...voting, if still valid in this country...is our only peaceful, legal recourse...voting 3rd party is the ONLY WAY to get real humans in power, rather than dynasty families and career politicians. When we realize the 2 parties we are divided over LOVE the division among us...then and only then may America be great again...
      @Justin Y. Lack of knowledge of the deep state? I just accused our government of mass murder...I understand deep state...fact that you refuse to listen, only attack, says too much about you...clearly you haven't known hardship. Clearly none of this has impacted you negatively...you are part of the problem, offering zero solutions.
      @Justin Y. Calling me stupid really helps your case...Trump has very limited brain power, as evidenced by his rambling, generally repetitive, toddler talks...although most of us are sorely undereducated, Trump really amazes me every time i listen to his banter. Trump did not close the borders in time, many flights to the USA brought sick folk here. Action wasn't taken until very late February, and by then 15 confirmed cases were more than enough to basically allow what amounts to airborn, quickly lethal AIDS《why this? (Because this virus mutates too fast to create an effective vaccine, which may never get made), upon the world. This is dangerous because common behaviors of common folk, such as shoulder to shoulder events, shopping and sardine packed working conditions, helped this virus along...even as people died in China daily...America went forward 2 full months wothout any concerns...then...rather than force the hands of state officials, and put the population through a 2 month quarantine, we've been seeing states react, rather than prepare...and all at the natural stages this virus thrives on...complacency among enough of us to allow the spread to continue. You refusing to see this logic isn't a blight on my mental capacity, just proves you are as simple as our Lord Trump...and likely among those very few, who like many elites, don't even understand the plight of the masses, whom I speak for, in this contrived crisis...Trump is calm about the virus because he exists outside the bounds of common folk...Trump and other powerful people would never have to take the risk of infection seriously as they are all well protected by expendable servants or can at the least afford to continue living lavishly and distanced from peons such as myself. 9/11 was an inside job and this proves what I've feared since then...that the government can perform mass murder and the people will always just accept it, hire the next sociopath in line, whichever of the 2 evil divisionary parties they aspire to dwell in...
      Our educational system is archaic. We could be educating everyone from home...there are no valid excuses for our current broken schooling, and no teachers need lose jobs...as the internet is an amazing communication device...
      Taxes are broken. Your dollar earned gets hit so many times...and we all just accept that blindly.
      Medicine is broken. My grandmother died because her selfish daughter needed cable tv more than grandma needed diabetes medicine...and millions suffer from the inability to afford insulin, despite that drug initially starting out as a gift to humanity from a generous genius, privatized by evil and greed, priced beyond reality for most.
      Our 2 party system is designed to keep us bickering...division keeps us docile enough to accept our own government conspiring to murder us, with our acceptance. 3rd party candidates are generally real humans...that care about other humans, even, gasp, total strangers and foreigners...
      We are all on the same damn spaceship...Earth. I judge character...not race, not whatever religion folks are born into. I am old...I am tired of seeing disaster after disaster get slow attention from government, as poor people die in thousands due to delayed or nonexistent help.
      It's about time the many take control, with votes, to dethrone the sociopaths that control us, play games with our very lives...
      When there are only voluntary homeless, when the janitor is paid living wage, when a high school graduate can earn enough in food service, or retail, to support a modest home and essentials, while creating a nest egg...when veterans are given the same care as Congress, Senate and other positions of highest power, rather than left to suffer and die, when the lowest paying jobs are enough to survive on, then and only then, can America boast of being great...
      As it stands...I feel most of us are born into lies we have no control over...It's well orchestrated, as my points are made clear in every satirical broadcast about the plight of the expendable masses, world wide...
      Do I want peace, equity and kumbaya? Yeah...I do...are there sociopaths in power oppressing the common folk...yeah...there are...have good Democrats and Republicans existed? Yes...they get blocked by evil at every turn, often resigning due to unbeatable corruption. Do I pity the very people I label simple? You bet I do...I want this planet to be a better place for most...not some...for all...if ever possible...
      This covid virus isn't done. It mutates too fast to pin it down with a vaccine...and we haven't seen the end of it because we, as a planet, would have to agree on a few ground rules to consider being a functional society.
      That's my 2 cents...some of it...take it or leave it. Most of us just exist and watch, lazily, rather than get directly involved in change. @soaringvulture We don't seem to take note...we, the expendable masses, are being told to push through life ignoring this virus...it took ONE infection to start a Planet Wide Pandemic...and because we didn't quarantine from January 1st to February, we get to watch innocent and otherwise lives lost, daily...who are "we", in "we're in it together"? Certainly not the elite...they step on us to avoid harm...I'm furious with humanity as a whole...I'm furious we accept all this death and Trump's toddler talks...like a Ted talk without useful insight...
      Those of us suffering are many...while the privileged watch the show They created...when...when will the common folk unite against tyranny, through the only peaceful means we have...vote out career politicians and dynasty families in favor of fellow human beings, with consciousness and compassion for the lowest among us.
      We won't stop the cycle of abuse by trading Democrats and Republicans, two sides of the same evil, corrupt coin.
      Vote 3rd party...vote for real people, with flaws, that understand what struggle is...that have put time behind any of these so called essential, yet minimum wage jobs...
      This economy is screwed...always has been. The vast majority of work available is menial labor...food service, retail, janitors, grocers...a great many take their wages in government...which is far too big, complex and unsustainable...
      Until any job can offer a modest secure household, until the only homeless are those who volunteer to live "free"...until the pill giants are mandated to make life saving medicine reasonably priced...we are a selfish, horrid nation, divided by the very people that oppress us, yet too busy fighting amongst ourselves to take any useful action towards a better tomorrow for the MANY, not the FEW

    My ancestors were the Irish, millions of whom left their home country for the US because of a devastating famine. If these immigrants and refugees from Central and South America are invaders then does that mean that those Irish refugees were invaders? Why aren't we currently referring to that period in history as "The Great Irish invasion"?

      Let’s not forget the well-organized militia portion of the 2nd Amendment. Which to me sounds like if you’re not active duty in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, you don’t get a gun. Clearly a good guy with a gun couldn’t stop a bad guy with a gun, so let’s finally address the portion of the equation that Repubs refuse to acknowledge- it’s way too easy for people to get guns legally and use them for murder. If they care about life as much as they claim, it should apply to those who are already eating and breathing independently of a womb, the ones who have walked the earth and existed as humans, not just those currently within a woman. It’s past time to address it.

    As an outsider, I would interpret the term "Legacy Americans" to mean those who have bequeathed a legacy to their descendants and those descendants who have inherited a legacy earned by their ancestors' hard work.
    Native Americans did not bequeath the dams, power stations, water and power distribution networks, roads, railways etc. Native Americans did not bequeath the education, welfare and health care systems. Modern migrants come to get the benefit of other people's ancestors' hard work and investment. Like burglars.

    This "replacement theory" not only implies that every single immigrant would have the same political ideology, but it's also implicit that anybody who isn't "white" would reject the Republican ideology, further implying that the likes of Tucker know, deep down, that it's an empty ideology that now exists solely to bolster one small group of people within the country.
    If they actually thought that they had the best ideas, they'd be welcoming more people who they would be able to win over with their superior political ideology.
    (And side note, don't Cuban immigrants in Florida form one of the most reliable bloc of Republican voters?)

      It's funny: both sides seem to be labouring under the belief that there are ethnic predictors of party affiliation and the stats don't bear that out. Also, Trump implies that the Democrats are pro open borders and yet Biden's administration has been very anti-immigrant and Obama's was very anti-immigrant and for that matter so was Clinton's, so it's a fairy tale both sides collude in weaving. It's almost like they prearrange "you pretend to be x so we can accuse you of x and we'll pretend to be y so you can accuse us of y and let's never talk of the economy, eh?"

    • @nedim_guitar

      It's all about race. The theory is about the long term demographics change that occurs when more black and brown people come to a country, they are claimed to have much more children (after a generation that's not true, they have the same average), and ultimately the fear is about white people becoming a minority.
      Also, what f*cker Carlson said about the (white) citizens whose ancestors came to the US being replaced by new immigrants... They weren't all white. Some were forcibly there. How long ago must your ancestors have immigrated for you to be considered the real 'merkin who has the right to the land? And what about the fact that the land is actually stolen from the native populations? Natives actually have the right to take power and expell every single white person from the continental US and Canada, if we're going to talk about the right to land.

      Many Latinos vote republican. There will always be people who find stratifying people into the deserving and undeserving as Republicans do because they NEED to be associated with the so-called deserving. How these voters cope with other Latinos being so thoroughly disrespected by the Republican party is a testament to how culture creates anti-immigrant feelings. Internalised homophobia is a thing and so I’m not surprised that people can tolerate Republican misrepresentations. On the right, your own circumstances are valid and everyone you don’t think belongs? Well, their circumstance are invalid. It’s also a way to convince yourself that you belong. And guess what? You do if you support the right, but that’s not going to save you from these racist attacks.
      Cuban immigrants appear to be easily swayed by the communist/socialist fear mongering. It’s despairing that they lived under a dictator and can’t see that by supporting Republicans they’re ushering in authoritarianism.

    Seth covers racism in more depth than a lot of other white late-night hosts on broadcast television, and I think it's because he hires a diverse team of writers and actually listens to them in addition to having them do spots to highlight their work.
    Edited for clarity after folks brought up Trevor Noah. Obviously he, Amber, and other BIPOC folks doing late-night stuff know more about racism than Seth (or other white late-night hosts)! Unfortunately, none of them have hr long shows 4-5 days a week (yet!), so I was trying to compare apples to apples.
    Also not trying to start a fight or tear anyone else down. I could have missed segments by other broadcast folks that were as good as Seth's or better; my main point was that it seems that a lot of these segments on race were written by his writers who have experienced racism, and he also features his writers speaking about their own experiences on camera when it comes to issues of racism and other prejudice. I think if white people are going to talk about racism (and we should talk about it, otherwise we won't be able to stop it), we should amplify what BIPOC people say AND/OR pass the mic. Seth does both, and I like that.

    What makes people from the “third” world more obedient? There’s so much BS in Tucker’s rants, but even the underlying “threat” they just admit they can’t convince people to vote Republican if they aren’t “legacy” Americans. Which ironically raises a whole question about the treatment of Native Americans.

    • @voxbury
      @voxbury 2 роки тому

    • @dolores2716
      @dolores2716 2 роки тому +30

      That word "obedient" really stood out for me. It just illustrates how completely racist he is. Like he sees them as some kind of zombies or idiots who do what they are told. Not full human beings. And he knows his audience will not question it - they are the real zombies.

    • @SoManyRandomRamblings
      @SoManyRandomRamblings 2 роки тому

      This is because (although few will admit it aloud) they do not feel that the Native Americans are actually human...that is why they feel that they discovered and inhabited an untouched land....that is why they think this is their country. That is how deep their racism truly is, that is why they can't see their hypocrisy, because they don't see any other race as valid, so they feel justified in ignoring what they have done to the true people of this land.

    • @Ericwvb2
      @Ericwvb2 2 роки тому

      The problem here is that Tucker can't spell out the truth so he has to talk in racist code. What he really means is at least partially thanks to the decades long GOP war on minorities, non-white Americans vote much more for Democrats than white Americans. If all white Americans stopped voting, Republicans would lose in landslides all around the country. But Tucker can't acknowledge that fact (since only "reverse racism" exists) so instead they have to give POC immigrant voters a derogatory and racist label so it fits into their bizarre conspiracy theory. Of course Democrats PREFER more non-white citizens since they do vote more for Democrats. That doesn't mean there is some scheme to "replace" white voters. That's happening naturally due to shifts in demographics. Just like Republicans do whatever they can to disenfranchise black voters, since black voters overwhelmingly vote for Democrats.

    Watching 1883 on Paramount+ (one of the most poetically beautiful things I’ve seen on TV in a while) - a portrayal of the immigrant invasion that came in the thousands upon thousands each week - by boatloads, and streaming uncontrolled across all of our borders - forming up in caravans, and who LITERALLY DID implement a policy of replacement of the native legacy residents of North America. This was the story of the westward expansion and founding of the United States, which in the case of the TV show 1883, depicts the acceleration of that expansion which took place after reconstruction.
    But the storyline has really never changed - EVER.
    The United States has ALWAYS REQUIRED an active and healthy system of immigration to maintain a healthy economy. Many of our current economic woes, from supply chain issues, inflation, and the shortages you see in your grocery store shelves have a significant portion of their cause traced back to the shortages of affordable entry level & unskilled labor, jobs which are often those supplied by new immigrants or temporary workers with some sort of work visa or temporary status.
    Solutions to immigration issues are not at all difficult, and are NECESSARY. The failure to solve them HURTS US ALL AS IT COLLECTIVELY HURTS THOSE SEEKING TO ENTER THE COUNTRY (although since many of those individuals are asylum seekers or others facing death if they return, individually their hazards are of course incomparable).
    The ONLY REASON Immigration issues continue NOT to be solved (the same reason so many other “hot button” issues stay do nothing issues that they throw money at, use to increase Executive Branch power & infringe on our Rights) is that They NEED the issue as a high value POLITICAL FOOTBALL. One that they can kick back and forth between parties, use for fundraising, use to get their base riled up and to the polls - and most importantly, while the media is distracted by the children locked in cages they are not paying all that much attention to the HUGE pipelines of corrupt corporate and dark money flowing into our political system that ensures that politicians DON’T represent their constituents, that they are beholden ONLY to the political party that holds the purse strings to that corrupt spigot that gets them Re-elected (that is to whom they pledge omertà - their oaths to the Constitution is a silly disposable formality for noob suckers, something only for lip service in front of TV cameras).
    The voters are an easily influenced (told how to think by AI driven big data propaganda campaigns using social media and the most intimate details of their lives which they’ve been willingly surrendering every time they use their phone, laptop, buy a smart device, or drive anywhere in a smart car - and they’ve become the disposable commodity that are used so that these politicians can achieve the positions of power so they can serve their parties and those that fund them.
    Racial Division, Chaos, the weakening of America-
    Those tools have been picked up and used by those who would go even further. Those who would fan the flames that drive populism and those who believe that having their side in power is more important than having a system which works for all people.
    It is clear that our education system has failed, failed to adequately teach the lessons of history and civics, as well as the critical thinking skills necessary to be able to resist the incessant propaganda (although it can be an almost impossible task) that almost 40% are being succored.
    One might think by my post that I somehow champion the other side - LOL-
    FAR from it, as the extreme left is no less guilty, but they did not storm the Capital Building, and they’re plots to seek power have been largely political, while those behind 1/6 have roots which can be traced back to the same illness that sabotaged the Paris Peace talks to ensure the U.S. remained embroiled in Vietnam, the costs of which was uncountable in American blood, dollars and prestige- all for political power. The fruits from those roots are behind 1/6

    Seth, With a spoon full of sugar the medicine goes down! Thank you for pointing out public figures that have promoted demagogic rhetoric. You and Randy Rainbow have voiced the truth that at the end of the day can be tolerated. Thank you, Linda

      It's definitely great comedy relief during this very hateful moment in American history. Women, people of color, LGBTQ. They are really showing their hate and it's sad, I just want to chill, hopefully own a home someday, see my kids get great jobs and a life in the future.
