Cawthorn's "sexual get together" gaff was funny because the GOP freaked out. That's when I knew it was definitely true.
I had a professor that worked for a congressman back in the 80s, he said they traded interns like baseball cards.
And we all hate to think it but we all know it was Ted Cruz...
It's not.

Seth is a recovery artist. I think the way he recovers from a joke gone wrong is better than a good fraction of the jokes themselves.
Absolutely. He demonstrates lots of experience
These just keep getting better honestly. Seth is so relaxed and confident these days he makes even the mistakes hilarious. Wonderful work to the whole team.
I've never seen anyone handle mistakes so well. The more problems there are, the more he shines haha

So many GOP “don’t recall” and they have the nerve to talk about Biden’s memory. 🙄
@@Paonporteur The modern GOP is a cult. So if you show evidence to its followers, they will dismiss it as fabricated. The GOP itself has to change, and there is very little chance for that.

They blatantly lie and have the audacity to claim the moral high ground
@Isaac Aguirre, didn’t you know, not giving two craps about the environment, hating gay people and minorities and treating women like garbage makes them saints.
Seth’s Mike Lindell has become one of my favourite characters. Like every great impression it starts with a grain of accuracy and then punches that up to 11 on the exaggeration meter. What’s even more funny is Seth is not that far off. Well done.

I'm extremely happy that Seth and the team keep the mistakes in these videos. They almost always make the videos funnier and in this modern era of ever-increasing rage and hate, we need all the laughter we can get.

The mistakes have become a hallmark of the show and it's much better that they leave them in. It makes the whole show feel a lot more casual.
@@beez1717 I know what you're getting at Michael... more casual, more relaxed, less formal and overproduced.

This show has more faux pas, screw ups and mistakes than any other late night show. But the way Seth and the crew roll with them, and pass on that “no ones perfect kind of vibe” and just press on and still deliver, that, that is one of the reasons that this show is amazing. Big fan, love it lol
This was a really good Closer Look. Obviously, what's happening in the world is awful, but Seth and his team really knocked it out of the park.
Yeah, I haven’t watched for a couple weeks because this has all been exhausting. I needed a break. Catching up now. They really are knocking it out the park.
The way he took that Eminem sound byte mess up in stride and had the crowd laughing even more shows the top shelf professional he is. That was gangster.
I think Colbert is the best of the late night hosts overall, but how Meyers deals with the mess ups - how he milks them, goes over them again, and possible yet again, very uncomfortable moments to most - I have to agree. That is stellar. He does that better than the others,.. 👍
I agree, I love that brand of humor. The ability to go off script, roll with the punches, and be funny and light, be creative and quick-witted, is indicative of high intelligence, and I am here for it! That's why I can't watch Kimmel or that dreadful dumb Fallon, they have no wit.
I would have never laughed as hard as I did if he hadn’t screwed that up 😂.
I was dying when he was like 'Are we trying to make the audience play Name that Tune?" It's like when the Game Grumps were like "Hey (editor), play just enough of Eye Of The Tiger that we don't get copyright struck" and it's just the one guitar chord.
“I can get this joke in HALF of a note” made me laugh harder than it should and then going back to do over the lose yourself joke was ridiculously funny because the error the first go around was so funny
Lol damnn I guess the funds weren’t there for the whole thing lol
I honestly thought that was just all they could afford to play of the song. "The royalties for Lose Yourself are HOW MUCH?!"
I couldn't name that tune if they'd played the entire thing.
First Milli Vanilli, now this. The sound person really has it out for Seth.
Seth is just on fire this week. I love when stuff goes wrong.
Don't know that I've ever laughed so hard at A Closer Look! Had to watch it 3 times. "They can get this joke in half a note" killed me

In another universe Madison Cawthorn came into Washington fighting for disabled rights, working across the isle to improve regulation around access, laws protecting equality and trying to push for millions if disabled in america.

Well, I think that the Republican Party is too far gone to be saved. Keep in mind that the GOP adopted its notorious "Southern strategy" of deliberately wooing white racists more than 50 years ago. This isn't a new development, although it's been getting worse and worse.
Both Romney and McCain joined the Republican Party _after_ that "Southern strategy" was party policy. They knew what the GOP was like when they joined it (certainly by the time they ran for office). They knew the party was _deliberately_ using racism for political advantage, but they joined it, anyway.
For a half century now, the guiding policy of the Republican Party has been the willingness to do pretty much _anything_ for political power. Well, I say "pretty much," because I used to assume that they'd draw the line at treason. No more. These days, I'm convinced that there is nothing - literally *nothing* - Republicans won't do for political power.
And again, it _started_ with deliberately using racism for political power. That was enough for _me_ all the way back then.
@@Bill_Garthright I agree with that. There's this saying I found here in the UA-cam comments about the current state of the party. If you're driving, there's a D and R. D for Keep Driving on and R for reverse, if you get the analogy you'll know what I'm comparing the system to.
People got to prove me wrong. There has to be an overwhelming turnout in the November midterms, because honestly, people complaining about systems, but they don't vote. People voted for third party, and threw away votes with write-ins, or chose not to vote.

@@annaw252 True that. The Odd chance that Cawthorn decides to use his Library of Congress Membership public knowledge and imitate Henry Hill. Look for the song "Mack The Knife" to play in both DC and in his home state, if you catch my drift.
@@charlespeakjr2168 Sadly, most Republicans could care less, the bar has been set so low for what is acceptable behavior for people who are supposed to be leaders (I use that word very loosely) that while they tout their religion constantly they are willing to justify and overlook the most unethical, immoral, illegal behaviors for power.
Omg, heading to cancer treatment in morning and Lordy this made me laugh out loud …. Thanks I needed this soooo much.
All the best. Take care. v
Hope your treatments go well. ❤
Hope everything goes well tomorrow-Seth sure helps!
Awww thanks
The best shows are when something goes wrong :)
"Oh Rudy You Done it Again!" should be an official T-shirt of this show.
Seth having to improv is always a delight. He and the crew work so well and are so funny!
Seth is so amazing and have to credit to the writing staff as well, at bringing humor to such serious matters. It lightens my day to be able to laugh at our current state of this country and beyond.
It a highlight of my day 😊
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Seth, you are a true Gem. Keep it up.
just crying, that Marshal law bit with the 8mile and sound clip. Seriously too funny 😂
"OHHH RUDY YA DONE IT AGAIN!" sounds like it'd be Rudy's catchphrase in a cheesy ABC sitcom.
The difference between the winner (33%) and Madison's votes (32%) is tiny. I'm surprised Madison didn't ask for a recount.
Shh, don't give them any ideas.
I do think he wanted to be there anymore since they keep showing the picture of him in the lace 🤣😂
It does not go by per cent difference . It goes by number of votes cast. If it is like 2000 vote difference{or some number} (and that is still 1%) there will be no need for recounting. You are not going to find another 2000 votes. Counting paper ballots is easy and there is a paper trail.
@@bunzeebear2973 Per North Carolina law a candidate may request a recount if the difference is 1% or less. Cawthorn got 31.99% of the vote to Edwards' 33.46%, a difference of 1.47%. (numbers per ABC news, calculations my own.)
Cawthorn was a gift to the Democrats. I will miss him. Evil? Hardly - just stupid. Evil would be McConnell, Cruz, Graham, DeSantis, etc, but not Cawthorn. Hope the kid comes out with a tell all book and definitely more uploads and interviews.
He went after congress term limits then the media turned on him. Look it up. The day he published that proposed bill, it was open season on him. A spiral in the media.
Not saying he was good or bad but he did something that hasn’t been done and needs to be done.
Term limits on congress members
OMG I was just going to say Lindell sounds like the SNL sketch guys from the Bears. Then you did a SNL bit. I was laughing so hard. Your impersonations are spot on. You have not lost your touch for those. Hilarious.
Sad thing is, despite all the scandals, Cawthorne barely lost. Insane.
👋👋👋, Same thing I said.
No. The sad thing is that Cawthorn wasn't the worse - far from it. Sad that McConnell, Cruz, Graham, etal keep getting re-elected. They are the evil and the cancer that is destroying the nation. McConnell is the worse of it all.
That's the frightening part ppl seem not to speak of.
Yup, that is SAD.
There were about 11 candidates running
I would like to point out the Nebraska's trump visit wasn't even in Omaha(our largest city) because it's entirely democrat and hates him and so does the metro.
No one really likes him FYI. Lol. Sad how delusional some still are.
Trump campaigned in Oregon in 2016, but he stayed about 300 miles away from Portland
@@gregbors8364 big urban areas are never friendly territory for the GOP anyway.
Hey hey hey! I'm in Omaha. I don't hate Trump. I just loathe him.
@@gregbors8364 I live a bit over 7500 miles from Portland, but based on what I've picked up from pop culture and the internet, I imagine that it must be a very confusing and frightening place for Donny Combover. He'd never know if a dude in a lumberjack shirt would shake his hand or spit at his feet, scary stuff.
THE SOUND BITE MISHAP! Oh my god just hilarious. Seth is always wonderful to watch.
Loved, “Van down by the river!” RIP
7:31 This may not seem like much of a compliment, but this was the most hilarious part of the show.
Don't worry Seth, even the screw-ups are great. Your "Name That Tune" improv was sublime.
“I can get this joke in half of a note!” lol
The description of how Democrats fight with each other versus how Republicans fight with each other … spot on.
When he describes Republicans, I’m visualizing Frank and Marie Barone.
Getting off of topic. I never really thought about Frank and Marie Barone being Republicans. Now their in-laws, Warren and Lois Whelan (Debra's parents), as well as Hank and Pat MacDougall (Amy's parents). Oh Hell Yeah!!!
Ok, back on topic.
@@charlespeakjr2168 I was referring more to Seth's description of how Republicans fight, and comparing it to an Italian family.
@@asterix7842 Couldn't that be almost any family, regardless of ethnicity or race?
@@charlespeakjr2168 Take that up with Seth. He compared Republicans fighting to an Italian family. All I'm saying is that made me think of the Barones.
I absolutely love how this fell apart in the middle and he just went with it.
The first clip of Lindell asking to meet Musk made me think of Chris Farley’s van down by the river character. So glad I wasn’t the only one who heard it 😂
I love how the crew flubs the joke and everyone's just like "no this is hilarious, leave it in".
Mistakes during a bit can often be funnier than the actual joke!
2000 mules
I’m not convinced there are any ‘mistakes’ at all: I think it’s all split-second timing by a brilliant team!
😻😻😻😻😻
I love your videos. Thanks for them.
That My Pillow Guy impression was truly outstanding!!! Kudos to Seth for that!!!
