I'm glad that the drama mystery franchises are moving into the 2020s, though I enjoyed the Ace Attorney and Danganronpa of course.

I can already see Yuma's design being similar to Makoto just with the antenna hair style. I'm totally interested in the game for sure. I loved P5R as its one of my favorite games of all time, so I would love the similarities that you mentioned. Only recently subscribed to your channel and hope we get to see you do a playthrough of this game as well. Been watching your V3 playthrough. Thanks for going over the details on the different interviews that were most interesting and details.

It's interesting how Danganronpa being made for an underground audience affected the writing for it especially since Danganronpa kinda became mainstream a little bit. I wonder how different it's gonna be with this mainstream audience in mind.

Tbh, I feel bad for Raincode. I have a feeling that it's going to get the "Danganronpa-Relation" treatmeant, where it's made by a person connected by Danganronpa, but when it's not the type of game fans were expecting, they'll drop it and it'll become obscure. It's what happened with World's End Club, after all.

Worlds End Club didn’t seem appealing to me, I think this game has a lot going for it until it’s released. The issue might end up being Danganronpa fans still want Danganronpa games, they may not be looking for a spiritual successor to the franchise.

Yeah I can totally see the vibe of Kyoko in Yuma. Yuma is like if Makoto and Kyoko had a kid and that is who Yuma would be. The Persona 5 vibes are strong with this one. I am very interested in this game.

Raincode gives me the vibe of how Uchickoshi went from Zero Escape to Somnium Files and that has me really excited!
I appreciate the change in feel of this game from the danganronpa series. I really feel as if the atmosphere and characters will reflect the darker tones and story more realistically than the danganronpa series did. It has this perfect balance of realism and fiction which I've always admired.

Personally, I think the game's name "Rain Code" is sort of a play on the word "raincoat", since the protag always wears one while outside.

Rain Code looks good so far
So, the mystery dungeons actually remind me of a game called Ai: The Somnium Files. The structure and events aren't the same, but that game let you enter the mindscapes of various suspects and witnesses in murder cases to try to find out either what they are hiding from you or have surpressed. Naturally, since you are looking at representations of their memories, dreams and psychological states, the sequences can get somewhere between trippy and outright nuts and change overtime as you dive deeper into them. It even has mascot characters that turn into clearly eye candy women once they get into the mind sequences.
It looks good, although one thing I always liked in danganronpa were those heated debates you would have in a circle in the class trial. I wonder if there will be anything similar to that.

It'd be cool if you got to choose your partner for a scenario or two and maybe in one instance you could be paired with the culprit who sabotages the investigation and throughout it you're having your certainty of what happened undermined because the other detectives have access to evidence you didn't get.

I hope they don't turn down the raunchiness too much. Danganronpa was always a very M rated franchise so I hope Rain Code doesn't fall too far from the rating. This was a problem with the end of hopes peak anime. In the games they would say straight up say fuck and I beleive even slurs, and in the anime they would say things like "you're such a rotten orange." Pretty underwhelming.
I like how theres people excited about this because i notice that most Danganronpa fans didn’t like worlds end club (personally i liked it but its story wasnt the best), so having a new danganronpa like game made by kodaka is exciting. I noticed that there isn’t many Danganronpa fans now from there not being any new things since danganronpa S, so having this might make the community bigger (and hopefully better and not as toxic). Anyways I’m excited for the game and I’m definitely going to buy this.
Honestly Raincode looks really neat so far and I could see more Master Detective Archive games after Raincode with new characters and settings as it seems a lot more flexible than Danganronpa in terms of making more games as with Danganronpa the sequels needed to justify the death game setup, Monokuma returning and the ultimate students to make the story work which meant doing it multiple times risked it becoming repetitive and formulaic.

Thanks for the links to DRA and SDRA2, didn't actually know where to find them. That said, is there any known fix for the game slowing down to unplayable framerates during class trials in the first game? The way it's worded in the Google doc, it seems like the game itself would need to be remade in a more up-to-date version of RPG Maker.
It wouldn't surprise me if we started seeing Shinigami cosplays in the future, I love her design!
But yeah I am excited! As big as a DR fan I am, I never played any of the games, it's ironic. It's most because of money and time, but at least I've seen let's plays and all that. I definitely want to play this game, but it's going to be 3rd on my list of games I want since #1 is the next Zelda game and I want to play Story of Seasons too, but we'll see what happens.

Oh I'd totally love a remake of DR1 lol. Especially if they're willing to make different endings and plot points (with the "true end" still being the canon one).
The only thing I can see that would be an improvement for a DR1 remake would be full voice acting. And it would be a miracle if all the original VAs would do it, yet fans would likely be really disappointed if that wasn't the case
As for adding features like multiple endings or those ideas from DISTRUST... why not just do that with a whole new game and characters rather than retroactively have to rewrite old ones?
@@olivera3365 True, true. If they're going that far, why NOT just make a new cast? They have kinda written themselves into a corner with V3 though, so they'd have to figure that out
But, counter argument. Consiter the fact that I'm very bias and feel like the THH class deserves more love. Chapter 2 and 3 are a freaking Shakespeare level tragedy and I'd do anything to get a different ending for my favorite little rule guy.
But what is so compelling about the stories of the characters *are* the tragedies that befall them (in most cases). As much as I loved Taka too just "letting him live" would take a lot out of the Danganronpa experience. Imagine a game where you could just have all your least favourite characters killed off and your favourites survived? I could potentially see a Zero Escape-style multiple endings in which certain characters definitely *do* die (and do so in a true end) but again I can't see why not just write a new game with a new cast? If we were doing a game like that based on DR1 I can't really see what deaths are unnecessary to the plot or character stories
I'd really love to see a full voiced Danganronopa game, it's not fun when I need to read 60+% of the game

You may be interested in knowing that it's possible, to a certain extent, to control actual insects in our own world (i.e. without superpowers) by splicing electronic equipment into them; there's a university researcher in Singapore who developed electronic equipment to stimulate the senses and motor functions of beetles, and remote control them (it's not as cruel as it might sound; the beetles don't seem to live any less than their regular lifespan for having undergone their cyber surgery, their nervous systems are very different so it's unclear that they might feel pain the way we do and they can be stunned/anesthetized for surgery by refrigerating them). They're meant to be used in disaster relief, like for identifying survivors under collapsed buildings, and the like.
So, yeah, the 'bugs' the detective controls might not be robots: instead, they might be cyborgs. It's something I would expect more to see from the creator of Zero Escape than the creator of Danganronpa, but the two of them are friends so the former may yet be involved somehow...

I won't lie, there's a part of me that's disappointed that there probably won't ever be another killing game, but that's okay. Every good thing comes to an end whether it successfully closes the book or keeps running until the franchise is ruined. And Danganronpa wasn't disappointing at all! I freaking loved it! So I'm going to try to crush my disappointment and instead get hyped for Danganronpa's successor, Rain Code! I've been obsessed with Danganronpa ever since I found it a couple years ago, and I can see Rain Code adding to that obsession or even replacing it entirely. Either way, I'm really excited!
Btw since you liked Persona 5. I suggest you try Persona 4, it's really good!

If the protagonist gets a love interest we will probably get to watch them die and the protagonist cry about it. I hope so it would be funny if that happens and they can not be together. (But what about Makoto and Kyoko) Well in V3 we learned in the original universe, meteors rained down on the earth. Everyone got sick and died, they can not be together either.

Honestly I wouldn't be the biggest fan if they did it like Persona where they just confess I would like it almost maybe even if by doing the Labyrinth you get the key detail and then you get a moment where after the Labyrinth you summarize exactly what happens just like in Danganronpa and I would preferably like it also when you beat The Labyrinth that the person dies since we're dealing with a Shinigami

I'm excited about this. I've always wanted to play the Danganronpa series but was always slightly put off by it being mainly unvoiced text. I always planned to just play it since I really want to experience it but maybe Raincode is a perfect jumping off point for me.
If it helps, the trials in Danganronpa - which are sizeable portions of the game - are fully voice acted
Also I'm not the biggest reader, but the other sections of the games being mostly reading was never off-putting for me, at least
new danganronpa is killing me.

If they wanted a protagonist that wouldn't say no, they could of made him an anti hero with a borderline anti social disorder where he's just in it for the ride and loves solving mysteries. Instead of being weak willed, be someone that just doesn't care about his or anyone else's well being.
