Micheal Pollard's apperance on the andy griffith show as barney's cousin virgil was the first episode of the andy griffith show that I had ever seen. I saw that episode in the early 1990's.
Excellent interview. The reason we don't have unique actors in performing arts is because it's all been homogenized...pasturized...smoothed over...blended into one general look/sound. Why? Fear. Young performers have no personal identity other than the homogenous images they've been bathed in since birth. Milos Forman said when describing his casting process, "when you see their face....you never forget it".
What a trip he is.I would love to sit and talk to him over a couple of drinks. The real deal.I think I've seen him in more shows and movies than anyone else
One film clip of Bonnie & Clyde shown at the 1968 Oscars was of Mr. Pollard's character, C. W. Moss, proving to the Depression-era bandits that he was tough enough to join their gang. I was taken by the actor's quirkiness. The only other film of his which I've seen is Little Fauss and Big Halsy (1970) and now he's gone. I'm pretty sad about Mr. Pollard's passing because in memory he's still young as when I first saw Bonnie & Clyde.
he was close friends with janis joplin he went to her home attended many of her parties he even got a tattoo at one of her parties she was having tattoo party
Skip E. Lowe was a Public Access show in Los Angeles... It's Jiminy Glick meets Wayne's World. This guy always seemed like one of those tragic Hollywood stories, just a person in denial they'd never make it, while clinging to dream they still could.
Excellent actor, who was instantly adorable in everything he worked in. Felt insulted on his behalf when Skip kept pressing him on what he felt about "good-looking" actors.
Michael j Pollard, Cool guy. Michael Andrew Fox of Family Ties, my favorite actor, his middle name comes from this actor, instead of Michael A. Fox, he changed his middle name Michael J Fox based on this inspirational actor.
Not the easiest interview. Pollard is very reluctant to exchange too much info. Very Quirky. "Bonnie & Clyde," is celebrating it's 50 year Anniversary this year. All the major players are still alive, w/ the exception of Gene Wilder who we lost in 2016. Pollard does owe alot to Warren.
I suspect he has Aspergers or autism as he struggles to focus for long on a subject, and he is doing this interview for Dick Tracy anyway, which he was in in 1990. He never made it big because of this awkwardness and his one dimensional acting, rather the same in every movie, despite the Oscar nomination, but he never bad mouthed others, and he was a hero in Hannibal Brooks. Still alive aged 79!
Ok .. Pollard passes ... and this came up ... who n the heck is this bag of donuts ?? Yup you guys nailed it jiminy Glick !! Skipee???? Who.. what ? Lol
rusty andrews ...lol..yeah. Soon after I posted that comment I just had to look it up, and sure enough he DID base the Jimmie Glick character off the guy. This Skip guy is Incredibly ridiculous. Love MJP btw...
four of the Apocalypse. Mr myxlplyx. And how about on Star trek miri. And my favorite Lost in space pnot my favorite Lost in space but my favorite of his, if for no other reason when he looks at dr. Smith and says' he's wacky' &before Penny disappears he says her name so softly u barely hear about to say that he doesn't have a reflection to follow her out of the mirror. Sad. Cool.
Every interview I've seen this guy do he invariably screws up somebody's name, a movie title, somebody's spouse's name, their birthplace, names of their kids . . . SOMETHING! His show--for some unfathomable reason--was on for more than 30 years and he seemingly did little or no preparation for any of his guests. I watched him interview Cornel Wilde where Wilde got a little pissed at him for getting so much information about him and his career wrong.
This is really rare. He didn't Give many interviews. It's a gem..
Always found him an incredibly interesting actor.
R.I.P He was really good in Bonnie and Clyde. I love his performance in Andy Griffith Show.

RIP Michael J. Pollard. A most unique actor. RIP Skip E Lowe as well.
Hollywood should do more to look after it's Greats. Michael J is 80 on May 30. Give the guy a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Reg Munday he passed away yesterday
What a unique and wonderful character... I watched this thirty years after and found it enthralling.
RIP Michael J Pollard😪😪😪
I know. I'm heartbroken RIP
Everytime he says ""Yeah, Skippy"" he smirks and tries not to laugh.
I love his authenticity. I will miss him.

"What should a movie star be like?" Humble, like Michael J. Pollard.
He would have been a perfect pick for Bilbo Baggins of Lord of the Rings
He seems kind of shy, and Humble. Not arrogant. Maybe a little stoned? RIP little man..
just a little.......
Met him on a bus in LA. he was just a regular Joe. Humble as can be.
But he knows exactly what he's doing Here. Thats his genius. Thats him.
Very underrated charecter actor.
He was so original there was no one else like him.
I know him only from Tango and Cash but I did like him so much RIP
rest in peace ,Mr Pollard ...you are a legend.
❤ another favourite
Rest in peace my man!
RIP MJP
What a trip he is.I would love to sit and talk to him over a couple of drinks. The real deal.I think I've seen him in more shows and movies than anyone else
such sweetness. RIP

He was VERY good at his craft!!
His smile 😍
Awesome interview!
I never knew he went to actors studio. He never looked his age. I liked him in Roxanne with Steve Martin. Great 80's movie.
Thanks for posting, loved it!
Holy Jiminy Glick!
How bout cousin Virgil on Andy Griffith Show.
R.I.P
One of a kind.
One of the greats!!
The fact that MJP was so shy and meek seems to rub some people the wrong way. I think it makes him more interesting. He seemed like a humble guy.
Terrific actor. Loved him in Tumbleweeds
he was close friends with janis joplin
he went to her home attended many of her parties
he even got a tattoo at one of her parties she was having
tattoo party
Great interview
Michael J. Pollard could have played Truman Capote.
RIP Michael 😭
Love that Jersey accent 😊

OMG I thought Jiminy Glick was inspired by Graham Norton, but I think we found the second ingredient.
First ingredient
Excellent actor, who was instantly adorable in everything he worked in. Felt insulted on his behalf when Skip kept pressing him on what he felt about "good-looking" actors.
By golly "LEARNT" is a real word O_o
Big luxurious leather chairs yet Skip is drinking from a styrofoam cup.

Once I made the connection to Jiminy Glick, I focused on skippy instead of Michael. Now I have to go look for Jiminy videos.
I am reminded of Gord Donnie a bit. Dynamic in performance, quiet in person.
Downie
Skipee

meisterly manu he just died.
Make it big?? Like a leading man? Hes one of the most successful character actors in history. A 50 plus year career
Dirty Little Billy FOREVER!!!!
I wish Skippy had asked him what it was like working with Lucy.
Now we’ll never know by Michael always wears a hat
Ok .. Pollard passes ... and this came up ... who n the heck is this bag of donuts ?? Yup you guys nailed it jiminy Glick !!
Skipee???? Who.. what ? Lol
I turned down that movie Willard.
Six million dollars there.
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
Could this Skippy guy be more like Jiminee Glick or what?
Other way around, I think Martin Short studied the many nuances of Skip E.
rusty andrews ...lol..yeah. Soon after I posted that comment I just had to look it up, and sure enough he DID base the Jimmie Glick character off the guy. This Skip guy is Incredibly ridiculous.
Love MJP btw...
I hate that I can’t watch this and not just see the interviewer as Martin Shorts character ‘Jiminy Glick’
I guess I can see why he didn't do interviews. Some people just are not interesting speakers.
What a strange man Michael Pollard .
My father liked this actor; I'm not so sure how I feel..... he's okay
He looks like a white Gary Coleman.
He was good in hannibal brooks
Why'd he change his birthname of Michael John Pollack Jr?
"Yeah,......"
Luv ur name even more GG ;-)

Why did he change his birth name?!
17:37 Skip E goes in for the kill
LOL...Lee "Strauss" -berg?

Why am I getting ready to hurl listening to the both of them talk ?!
He dated Janis Joplin... I wonder what happened there.
Actually they were good friends. Not dating.
@@michaeljpollardfangirl8936 Wrong... obviously because Janis spoke about it on Dick Cavett.
@@TheKitchenerLeslie where can you find that interview?
He accidentally went down on Janis and called her Janet
Then tricked him into saying his name backwards and he went away back into the 8th dimension
Talk about a Dullard
I imagine that he is two inches away from Michael's face.
I really like Fritos Skippy... if you don't like Fritos -- I don't like you.
He died...............lol
Lol? That's not funny
