This must have been hard for Jackson to narrate: "Here's Jordan. Beating us. Again"
Well, he's in exalted company, and he's the lone player who was on the two teams who took the championship era Bulls to 7 games, the 1992 Knicks and the 1998 Pacers. IMO, the Knicks made a mistake trading away Jackson for Charles Smith and Doc Rivers.
Jackson might have been sad to narrate but i am pretty sure he was happy he was getting payed to narrate
If Michael Jordan beats you in a basketball game that’s a privilege
Imagine Isiah Thomas narrating Game 4 of the 1991 ECFs. 😂
@@3912JamesIsaiah Thomas should narrate 88 89 90 eastern conference finals
Marc Jackson was on the team Jordan beat here, but he can highlight the offensive and defensive greatness of Jordan. Marc Jackson is a true sportsman.
Ppl rave about MJs footwork, but most dont highlight it on the defensive end. His footwork (offensively AND defensively) was just phenomenal.
"Mind your business, get back to YOUR man!"
Crazy how the leagues best scorer is also first team all defense for over a decade no cap harden, lebron,kd need to take notes
Young ppl just wanna argue but Pippen, Harper were gonna do that to you too. Reggie got no room to breathe. I get guys fire long range now but not many guys body up like that anymore. No one in their right mind gonna act like that means these guys can't score. Steph a shooter, Kd is lethal but Scottie close to same height w a 7'3 wing span. That's not bringing up Rodman. The Bulls are a team in any era are a problem.
Lebron was a DPoY level defender for a bit and has always been a near All NBA defender. KD has been an elite defender the past 3-4 years (was in the DPoY convo in 2017 i think due to his super high def. rating and leading the league in blocks for like 2 months) but he's always had guys like Kawhi and PG outshadowing him. Harden has played decent/sometimes lockdown defense since like 2018 too. Then again, MJ is the GOAT for a reason.
@@mirakekkle9476 LeBron is great off the ball help defender. He has never been an elite lockdown defender
@@mirakekkle9476 big difference to be NEARLY THERE and BEING THERE.
LeBron's NEARLY the GOAT but not quite. Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
@@JoeSmith-iv3sf Reggie should have shot that. That was poor decision making. He can shoot with a forward moving motion and Jordan would be in his shooting space that is mastered by todays sharpshooters. That is an automatic 3 ft.
Would LOVE to see MJ host an episode of detail on Kobe.
Why? So he can say here’s a poor mans version of myself
@@TheSands83 nope just wanna hear him talk about kobe in detail
@@TheSands83 why would u even say that he died and plus he had more in his arsenal Than just mj fadeaway and pull up jumpshots
i am sur MJ would do that cause as we learned MJ and the back mamba were actually close how about lebron doing it?
@@hoodiemo4164 PEOPLE NEED TO STOP CHANGING THERE OPINION ON SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY DIED
When your rival critiques your game and he has no choice but to praise you.....YOU'RE THE GOAT
Hoping someday the great MJ will do these break downs
It's why he's the greatest. He could've been a guy who played one side of the floor and that would have made him a great player, but he did it on the other side of the floor too, which makes him the GOAT. Also, this video destroys the narrative that he never defended the best offensive player on the floor.
That's a narrative? If so, it's absurd. I watched nearly every game of his career, and he frequently guarded the other team's best player. He just happened to have another all-time great defender in Pippen who could also pick up the best player if the matchup was better.
Michael Jordan always defended the best player, and if a guy got hot Jordan would switch onto him, he took it personally if a guy thought he was going to outscore him in a game. Bottomline MJ was Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, and Serena Williams, the only Athletes that I have ever seen that were true champions, they rarely beat themselves and even when you have them down they are never out, and MJ was the greatest at that his will to win, his desire to not lose is what will always set Jordan apart, and not to mention MJ played in era of 7ft rim protecting big men who took pride in not getting dunked on, and he dunked on everybody. Lebron is goliath, MJ was David, that is difference,.
90’s Hip Hop is well represented in the Last Dance! In my humble opinion, that was the greatest era of hoops and hip hop!!!
Big Mike agreed 100% I’ve always said it was golden era of NBA and Hip-Hop easily.
90’s basketball is not even close to the 80’s cmon now you had a super team that was always the favorites.
luigixroxas
I can’t argue that fact! The 80’s had some fierce rivalries and to be honest, that’s the era that made me and my brother fall in love with the game of hoops! Dually Noted Brother!!!
Not just you're opinion but it's Facts!
I just dropped my MJ Vs LeBron GOAT video. Go and check it out if you haven’t seen it 👀🔥
I'm glad you could continue the tradition of the Mamba voice over love and respect
Bulls vs. Pacers 1998 playoff games were the most entertaining and toughest NBA games from 1997/1998 season.
I think we all miss Kobe doing Detail, but Mark Jackson’s Detail is just as fire as his NBA commentary😂
Rascally Rellic
Facts!
Mark Jackson is responsible for building the team that Steve Kerr inherited and won multiple titles with!!!
Big Mike oh i know. Mark help develop the best shooting backcourt the game has ever seen
Facts
People forget how fundamentally sound Jordan was. I love that they showed the defensive portion of Jordan as the last clip. We always talk about MJs offense but rarely we talk about his defense. Great footwork, vision, defense on point.
HonestTruth still moving but got a charge given to him 😂
@@fastballfilms4214 Well I'm going to believe a NBA player and former head coach who said it was the correct call...the offensive player went through MJ to force that shot easy call for the ref. Don't judge the calls of the 90s based on today's standards.
Facts he was every bit as good defensively as he was offensively
Fastball Films not sure if you understand how offensive fouls work. When you initiate the contact in the defensive players space, they will call that an offensive foul. Players can’t forearm or even hand check player these days, it gives the offensive player better opportunity to play face up, thus giving the offensive player more freedom and creativity to make plays. It’s prettier and more marketable type of basketball but definitely not as challenging in terms of finding your own shot.
the Great Mark Jackson, Respect!
Yeimwill
Mark Jackson is a great basketball mind! He was done as dirty as a coach can be done when they fired him literally one step away from the championship season he envisioned! Jackson built that team that Steve Kerr inherited and started winning titles with! Very shitty and dirty deed by the Warriors front office
Mark Jackson objectively broke down his own team's demise ✅ Wow 😯👍🏽
Mark Jackson is the only player in the '90s that forces Michael Jordan into a game 7, twice!
Good point. You're absolutely correct !
True, but it wasn’t just Jackson.
this was absolutely beautiful to watch
That's why you can't judge Scottie’s by his stats.
We don’t he’s a top 25 player.
@Sasuke Uchiha No higher than 30. He has statics & accolades, within context backing his claim. Most people i've seen consistently rank him roughly top 25 though.
@Sasuke Uchiha No, I wouldn't rank him over either of them. Now that I think of it he's not top 25. But I'll briefly drop a list for you so you can examine it.
@@youngblood4127 Pippen was amazing, but placing him top 25-30 would place him ahead of guys like Isiah, Drexler, Dirk, Barkley, Payton, etc and Pippen wasn't better than those guys. It's not even close. I can make the argument that Dominique Wilkins was a better player individually (although I'd give Pippen the slight edge).
Pippen was an exceptional player and was deserving of his placement on the NBA's 50th Anniversary team. However, to suggest that he's a top 25-30 player of all-time?
Nah
Pippen was my favourite player, i always said that you cant judge him by his stats. You cannot see there how much he cover when MJ gambled on the defense or how much he saved MJ energy. For sure top 50 and part of the best duo of all time. I like Durant but he has never achieved antyhing without two other all stars. For me Steph over Pippen and Pippen over Durant:)
That jump in between Kukoc and Rose is truly a great play. No stat for that, but it's worth 3 points given that Reggie probably takes and hits that shot otherwise.
Brilliant take in this era of arrogance and hubris. Salute!
Exactly. That was brilliant. He completely avoided the pick that was being set as well. He was one step ahead.
At 3:18 Jordan elegantly dodges rose trying to elbow him at his midsection to reach miller on time. He made it look effortless.
Lebron would’ve pushed his teammate over to guard Reggie
The worm would hold the king to 18 hard earned pts. People forget that Rodman was one of the best defenders of all time along with Pippen.
OJ Glove 😂😂😂🔥
Lebron doesn't guard the other teams stars
Or rodman will push lebron to run and guard reggie😂
@OJ Glove. That's FUNNY man, but it's true.. 🤣 🤣 🤣
These are the types of plays that cannot be gauged by any stat, making the right plays as a scorer, facilitator and defender. Playmaking is not just looking to get an assist but move the ball to find the best shot available for the team. Jordan’s off-ball defense, ability to draw a charge and phase thru multiple screens and bodies. These little details really make you appreciate on why he’s the goat.
Lebron would NEVER chase a reggie Miller around as it would "expend too much energy". Those words never existed to Michael Jordan
Superstar Television why would you put Lebron on reggie. This reason why scottie wasn’t on Reggie is because he would guard Mark Jackson full court
@@meditationmayham3590 The point is that 😒 Lebron typically wouldn't chase another offensive player around like that for most of the game ✅
Here is a direct quote from MJ in the article I linked in my comment above:
"It's tough to guard Magic and then go down and be expected to carry the load offensively," Jordan said following the series opener. "It's a challenge, but I have to do it."
Maybe not word for word about expending too much energy, but the meaning behind it is the same and he needed Pippen to cover Magic in that series for the Bulls too win. I also seem to remember LeBron guarding D. Rose in his prime several times in a tight Cavs-Bulls series when they needed him the most. He also hounded and shutdown Steph Curry several times in The Finals the year the Cavs came back from being down 3-1.
Sean Dewberry against the warriors he didn’t guard Steph, Klay or Durant...he guarded Draymond. What do you think would’ve been better avg and triple double like he did in the series or having worse numbers and making life much more difficult for KD?
Scottie always guarded the other team best players
No more Kobe breakdowns 💛💜🙏🏾
Facts it dont even seem right without hearing Kobe's voice 😭
😭
In the end Larry Bird was like: of course its an offensive foul, that’s MJ! ;-)
MJ pulls up from full speed dribble... There's no slowing in pace before the pull-up like all other players.
Impossible to defend... As you have no idea when he's pulling up, if you guess... He just continues through with the dribble to the rim
Black cat. That’s born ability plus solid fundamentals
MICHAEL AIR JORDAN THE G.O.A.T
Mamba forever 💜💛
Something people rarely talk about. Jordan's defense. He was such a great scorer, no one thinks of his D.
I think about his D. all the time.
@@Silkbandito chill out buddy

As Kobe said. Michaels game was flawless. The most fundamentally and technically sound basketball player. The 🐐
Brilliant breakdown
Greatness is in the details...
Excellent work 👍 break down & explanation.
The defensive sequence was brilliant.
Chicago please hire Mark Jackson
Too bad you can't defend like that anymore or you'll get fouled.
Agreed
That's absolutely false. I've seen defense like that this year plenty of times. Team defense is way better today than it was back then too.

Yep. I'm a Bron fan through and through, but there's no question that MJ's the GOAT. Not sure why a bunch of MJ worshippers in this comments section think we Bron fans think otherwise, lol. We don't.
😏 True ✅
@@TheGeorgeD13 People are just sick 🤮 of the false narratives ❌ 😏 ESPN, Fox Sports, and Lebron himself are responsible for hyping him up as the best ✅ They are wrong ❌
George Daugherty I think lebron and Kobe are close I mean Kobe to me was the closest thing to MJ . Lebron is his own thing I’d say magic johnson in Karl Malone’s body it’s ridiculous. Kobe was clutch like MJ and smooth and played both ends of the floor . Jordan did everything at an elite level shooting , passing , defending and getting to the free throw line . Guys today don’t get to the line cause they gun 3s all day . Lebron should get to the line more then anybody because of his size and athleticism. Oh and the rings in I think the best era of ball .
Good old 90s basketball. Indiana was so close but Bulls were destined to threepeat. Helluva series. Hats off to both teams!
The documentary is insane broooo
Never want to hear he didn’t have a left hand, and couldn’t go left, he beat a triple team and finished with his left hand. Baaaaaaa! 🐐
1:56 the look and body language on Antonio Davis and Rik Smits’ is priceless. “Did he really just do that?”
It must’ve been really painful to narrate this brutal loss. Respect to you Mark Jackson. The 90’s Bulls might be the best dynasty ever in my opinion. The Patriots in the 2000s is a close second.
Bulls need to sign Mark Jackson
Ion know if i can break dwn film of my team gettin destroyed while having so much class and praise
Mj: Breathes
Mark: We’ll live with that
A little "home cooking" for that charge on Miller.
Erik Hopkins *falss*. Excellent defensive play by the 🐐 of the nba.
Miller had 0 points in the 4th quarter in a game 7
Great analysis here by Mark Jackson. I hope these younger fans can see how much effort went into defense when men were men. 😃
Makes it look easy.
3:30 So Reggie's weakness was going to his left. He obviously has space there (you'd have thought he would take advantage of Michael being late to the play), yet he continued to drive towards the key ie his right side. Ends up getting called for the offensive foul despite the effort. There must've been a scouting report on Reggie that said this..."make him use his left hand and leave the left side open".
yesss
Basketball at its finest
GOAT
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!
GOAT 🐐
Nice
13's color way was HOT.. wish I had taken better care of my 13's back then.
GOAT!
What? Splits the triple team and finishes. Unbelievable.
Mark Jackson build the warriors not Steve Kerr
Yet they didn't do anything and the system sucked
Guess Doug Collins built the Bulls then too, huh?
No bud no he didn’t
I guess Del Harris built the Lakers before Phil arrived
Jordan shut down Reggie to 0 points and 1 shot attempt in the 4th quarter. After he lit up the Bulls for 22 points on 7/12 through 3 quarters, only 5 on Jordan (2 were on a phantom fastbreak foul). And Reggie had 20 PPG through 2 rounds entering the ECF.
Isnt that last one a defensive foul on jordan?
Lebron would of flopped
Look how MJ defended Reggie... LeBron would let Kevin Durant stand at the 3 point line and let him take the shot. It happened in both finals.
@@BeardofBeesPool facts. Lebron is terrible at on the ball defense.
Rick Rude not true at all. Don’t say thing u can’t back up. At his peak he was solid, not mj great but solid. On ball d was never his strong suit but he want bad at all. He was well above average when he cared to actually play d. U don’t become 2nd in votes twice for dpoy by being terrible on ball.
It’s true he would definitely flop
Flopping was never a trend during that time
Remember
Nba legends like Karl Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Payton, Mark Jackson, Charles Barkley didn't have ring because of MJ.
While role players like Jason terry have a ring because of Lebron.
Wish they had just zoomed in on jordan instead of making everything else dark. Made it hard for me to see
Mj Makes everyone good
The Bulls stars should’ve went to another franchise that would’ve been extremely accommodating, after 98. That simple. That way Scottie can finally re up financially with Jordan. Dennis get his money & Phil get paid as well.
I'm surprised Mark Jackson detailing Bulls plays against his own team on game 7.😂
Larry Bird's face at the end.
You see, Hockey remains coolest game on earth to date. But that is not because of ice, but because of the physicality of the game! Why EPL Football is the hottest ? Because La Liga knows what EPL has that they are without : The physicality of the game..... When NBA had taken "Physical" part of the game away, the world barely able to distinguish the difference between the players and those cheering girls at the sideline of the court.
What’s funny about the first clip is Kobe called out that exact mistake during a pump fake
I saw Kobe Bryant on that defense of MJ against Reggie Miller.
??
According to Scottie Pippen, MJ never guarded the best player on the opposing team.
Fun facts: Derrick Mckey, Reggie Miller, Scottie Pippen, and Mark Jackson were drafted in '87
Mark Jackson and Ron Harper were once teammates with the Clippers
The 2 MJ's: Mark and Michael were roy winners
After being swept by Bird in the playoffs in '86 and '87 Jordan finally beat Bird in a playoff series
That's why we call it BASKETBALL. and millet know it.
Sound is janky
Hey NBA, hire this man Mark Jackson, what's wrong with yall?
Mark good defense better offense Jackson
That's an and 1
Mark was one shot away from a quadruple single in that game.
Bad call by ref on Reggie, it's not entirely untrue that nba was protecting Jordan once he became a superstar..
in this series alone there were lots of calls in indianas favor in the closing moments of games... uncalled pushoff from reggie before his game winner, uncalled trip that sent the series to a game 7, and a derrick mckey drive to the basket which was a clear offensive foul was called as a defensive foul on rodman which sent mckey to the line...
the 1997/98 mavs went 20-62
The offensive foul in the last part may not be the right call, it is debatable.
No reaction from larry bird. It must've been a good call.
Jordan takes the chip...Momma.. there goes that man.
Detail Kobe baby mark jack

Nothing to be ashamed about Pacers, we Chicagoans feared this team, more than the Pat Riley Knicks, Pacers had shooters, runners, they were strictly bussiness, like Halen Rose would say, We Had Them !!! We let it slip.
My your business 😆
Game 7 ? Is this the playoff 🤔

That Pacers squad was TOUGH.
unwatchable, constant buffering.
The Pacers also got every soft call over the Bulls in this game. The preferential treatment is a total myth.
