Do people realize Pippen had a 48 inch vertical? He was an athletic freak in his own right and had a very polished game. He was extremely gifted. MJ wouldn't have won a single championship without Pippen.
pheeel17 I'm serious, you could just Google it. MJ had 48 inch vert too. Pippen also dunked from near the free throw line, look it up. For reference, Kobe had a 36" vert and LBJ had a 44"
+Arturo Luna Pippen didn't win any championship without MJ when he retired 1994-1995. Just sayin' Basketball is a team effort. All superstars can't win championships on their own. What made the bulls a dynasty was because of their team play and team effort.
The Heat are a very good team and could give the Bulls trouble because of LBJ & Wade. However, besides having Jordan, Pippen & Kukoc's offense, the 96 Bulls also had the nastiest perimeter defense I have ever seen. When they were cranked up you could hardly get into your offense as they clogged every entry point & passing lane. The Heat are a perimeter team offensively and would play right into Chicago's strength. Additionally, the Bulls had a lot of guys who could switch up and play Wade or LBJ; Jordan, Pippen, Harper & Rodman. As a result they could switch up rotations so much it would hard for Heat players to find their offensive rhythm. Finally don't forget Coach Jackson. Probably the greatest strategist in NBA history. In a 7 game series Bulls would defeat the Heat 4-2.
The Bulls had to face teams like the Pistons & Knicks that liked to play dirty. Pippen and Rodman specially played a little dirty, which the Heat are not accostumed to. It's a whole different game when you can't take aggression and keep focused in the game. Which the Bulls did and won against teams like that. Ask Shaq if he did not lose his mind playing against Rodman.
There has been a lot of great duo’s in NBA history. Usually it’s a guard/big man. Cousy/Russel. Magic/Kareem. Stockton/Malone. Kobe/Shaq. Pippen and Jordan wre two “wings” - different dynamic. Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady had an opportunity to do the same but didn’t stick together. Anywho. When Pip and MJ were clicking they were a devastating combo. So versatile and athletic. Tough to beat…obviously.
Its crazy how much more competitive the League has gotten since the 90's. Back then all you needed were 2 superstars and a good supporting cast. Now if you dont have 3 you're sunk unless you play as a team and so far San Antonio seems to be the only one who has achieved that
Jonathan Ferrari The fact that kobe learned (among so many others) from MJ means nothing, I'm sure MJ learned from someone to. They're both incredible players, and both were considered best at some point in their career. One difference is, MJ just will never be forgotten, ever.
One of best combos, if not the best, in history. Probably best guard/forward combo, both offensively and defensively. Jordan: 44pts/7asts/5rebs/3stls/2blks/55%FG - 142ORtg/111DRtg Pippen: 40pts/2asts/10rebs/5stls/54%FG - 141ORtg/106DRtg
I gotta apologise for bringing LeBron into it, but I can't help but wonder how he (and others today) would have reacted to Smits' foul on Pippen that prevented the slam. That was just a hard foul back then; now it would probably be considered a flagrant-1 at least. I can see LeBron doing his usual flop from the hard contact and then get up acting all furious and wild eyed like he does after physical fouls today. LeBron is clearly the greatest player today, so I'm not gonna waste my time trying to criticise his game, but it still frustrates me how he seems so insulted when he gets fouled hard. Jordan and Pip (among others) were just cool about it; they took the hit, got up with no expression and hit the damn free throws.
Jordan use to cry and complain about the Pistons when they put his ass on the floor so dont act like Jordan didnt complain like everybody complain about fouls just cause Lebron is the best player in the game dont mean he cant complain.
Deunta Hicks cmon! Pistons fouled mj harder than today..if you foul players like that today, it wil be flagrant foul. So stop comparing physical plays in the 90's than today.
Its suppose to be a flagrant foul!!! They was playing defense they was just being rough throwing elbows , undercutting people shoving people throwing people to the ground that aint defense that aint being physical thats just being rough cause your real defensive skills suck! Its Basketball not Football.
Deunta Hicks Pistons tried to hurt Jordan. Remember, they created the Jordan Rules. Nobody created Lebron rules. Sorry, but Jordan had every right to complain. Hard fouls, hacking, illegal defense, knees to thighs, intentional tripping, triple-smash reject fouls, flagrant 3 fouls, mean muffs to the face, elbow smash mouths, Fist to the face decks, no whistle full-speed clothes-line foul, slam Jordan to the ground while in mid-air flagrant 4's. That's just some of what the Bad Boy Pistons did. Jordan was lucky to escape with minor injuries and live to play another game.
I know your comment is 5 years old, but I want to add this. Just last season Damian Lillard was on fire during the playoffs. With the game on the line, Andre Igoudala plays some old school real defense on him. Damian couldn’t, for the life of him, shake and get a good shot off. When I saw that, I thought, Reggie would have got that off, Bird would have got that off, whole lot of others from way back would have gotten that off. Today’s players face the easiest D since the days before dunking.
Pip couldn't became 1, cuz Jordan, but morale that keap Scottie is priceless. Maybe that wrong, maybe something else but 33 keep them together like glue.

That's the thing that people forgot. The 90s Chicago Bulls were unbeatable at their best. Give me the 98 Bulls over any other team. They just refused to lose.
For the Wade and LeBron tandem to become successful, Wade had to step down and actually lower his production in order for the relationship to work. Pippen and Jordan on the other hand maximised each others talents by playing off each other (Pippen being the main ballhandler and executing excellent cuts, MJ spotting up, driving and/or finding Pippen along the baseline). MJ and Pippen also fed off each other defense, being able to "safely" gamble on defense, knowing the other has their back.
LOL @ people saying lebron's a better team player, fux all he does is drive and kick, and he holds the ball for more than 80% of the time, look at mj's movement without the ball he doesnt just stand there, if u look at lebron most of the time if he doesnt have the ball with him he looks like a idiot

And, back then, athletes and celebrities weren't talking about their political affiliations, or trying to tell the population how to think and vote. Back before social media, when families and friends still had good face time, and watched sports and movies together, and there was no sexual agenda shoved down the throats of anyone. I miss those days. I spent MANY a Sunday watching the NBA on NBC. All the neighborhood guys would always get together on Sunday, and play basketball, but we'd always knock it off in time to watch NBA on NBC. Memories....
I still have this entire game I recorded on vhs in the stone ages. Scottie and Mike would run over today's league like sneakers stomping out bugs. These guys would massacre Lebrons teams.
Ohitika Píško yep i remember watching this game it was incredible to see both guys on same team score combine 84 points nba was better when it was nba on nbc the theme music and the games where better cause the feuds where more personal now everyone body body with each other i could name 5 teams that had huge rivalry with bulls now there are no rivalrys except mavs spurs cause they had same players for over 10 years besides that everyone switches teams to often is just not like it was before
Juda Martinez Exactly. 👍 and yes the NBC intro music was better and the feal was most certainly more real and personal. It was war and the pride was there. You could feel the heated emotion through the T.V.........it was simply in one word "REAL".
Ohitika Píško yes it was plus before the game started marv alberts voice hi there and welcome to madison square garden where clyde drexler and the portland trailblazers take on patrick ewing and the new york knicks just an example with his voice the intro and the theme music it looked like that was a finals match up now on abc if the clippers face the cavs for example it doesent seem as important of a game like it should i do like jeff van gundy but nbc just added extra to the feud just like they do with sunday night football
The difference between the MJ era and post MJ era is that MJ and before, they played the game correctly against worthy opponents. Post MJ, they all travel and carry on every play and in the case of LeCramps and Wade, it's six or seven steps. Sneezing is a foul and it's all star teams against basically D-League teams.
Man i remember watching this game and just marveling at the Bulls. MJ and Pip scoring 40+points each and the Worm dominating the Boards with 23 rebs. That team was really special, the crazy thing is how good the Pacers were as well, that squad was deep, The Bulls were like a traveling rock star band, whether you wanted the Bulls to win or lose, you wanted to see them.
Yes we've seen teammates scored 40 plus points in the same game, it's only happened about 10 times in NBA history though. What stands out even more to me is the opponent the Bulls accomplished this against, you're talking about a very good Indiana team with an excellent defense, so it's not like MJ & Pip accomplished this against some bottom feeder team in the league, far from it, and that makes this accomplishment all the more impressive. The fact that Worm also grabbed 20 rebounds makes this even more rare, two players with 40 points and another with 20 rebounds in the same game, UNREAL.
They need to show this video to all the current "superstar" in the league and nba "analyst" on ESPN, to remind them of what REAL GREATNESS looks like. MJ, Pippen, and Rodman are all in the HOF.
milan j I'm inclined to agree with you. It's much easier to score when that's all you do, but it's much harder to have the ability to score when you exert as much energy on the defensive end like Pip and MJ did. Those two we're that very rare pair that could dominate a game on both sides of the ball.
Another thing to note is that both The Bulls and Lakers are large market teams with many from LA or Chicago able to attend road games. However, I will also say that as a basketball fan, how could you NOT root for the way the Bulls played.
@J Day you're either too young to never actually see him play or you're just a hater because Jordan was one of the best defensive players ever what are you talkin about, seriously how you ever even seen him play and if you did you must be angry because he always destroyed whatever team you liked.
84 pts 2 players , 23 rebounds 1 player . What a team . Best ever
Great
I still remember watching this game live at just 12 years old! What an era! 😊
by far the best team in sports history and the most exciting team to watch as you can hear the pacers fans cheering for the bulls
good years....great years.
the work ethic, look at how hard they really are working for buckets omg... insane the level of defense
ILove Scottie! That is all..
Rodman was so fun to watch. He played with so much passion. The dude played his heart out every single game.
remember this game like it was yesterday

Arturo Luna Pippen was a great athlete, but 48 inch vertical? That's four feet. So at 6'7", that would put the top of his head 7 inches above the rim.

I’ll say without hesitation that this game was the best the “Big Three” ever played together in three seasons.

Ohitika Píško yep i remember watching this game it was incredible to see both guys on same team score combine 84 points nba was better when it was nba on nbc the theme music and the games where better cause the feuds where more personal now everyone body body with each other i could name 5 teams that had huge rivalry with bulls now there are no rivalrys except mavs spurs cause they had same players for over 10 years besides that everyone switches teams to often is just not like it was before
Juda Martinez
Exactly.
PIPPEN is a monster on Defense. This guy is all over the place... what the hell!
southsidesman NO DENNIS RODMAN REPLACEMENT OF HORACE GRANT IS WHAT GOT THEM THOSE 💍💍
@@downsouth3493 Ummm, first threepete was with Grant, and Grant actually blows Rodman out of the water, especially when it comes to playoffs.
Jordan and Pippen needed more help in the second three peat. They weren't going to win another championship without Rodman.

Rodman was excellent in Rebounds, and Defense vs the Best C-PF of the NBA.
I have watched this game 20 times and I always smile 23 rebounds for Rodman, 40 points for Pippin, and 44 for Jordan.
Not bad for a hobbit
The Golden Era of basketball. NBA on NBC"
Young pippen would shut down Lebron, sick defence.
EASY, with barely an effort, he would absolutely CLAMP *any* of todays players right down.
thnx God finally someone smart
@@00Mindi00 100% true...and who will easily pass through Rodman 1 on 1....Nobody
@@00Mindi00 easy?
The difference between the MJ era and post MJ era is that MJ and before, they played the game correctly against worthy opponents. Post MJ, they all travel and carry on every play and in the case of LeCramps and Wade, it's six or seven steps. Sneezing is a foul and it's all star teams against basically D-League teams.
I remember this game MJ and PIP was going crazy. I miss my Bulls from back then. I didn't miss a game, NBA on NBC was amazing!
you must have been in the prime of your childhood lucky you
i miss the nba on nbc
southsidesman simply great!
I would go play outside for a little while then go back in to catch the second game from the western conference.
Cant believe how much time has passed I am 39.
And Great defense( more impressed by pippens defense) and on top of that make wonderfull assists
milan j I'm inclined to agree with you.
@J Day you're either too young to never actually see him play or you're just a hater because Jordan was one of the best defensive players ever what are you talkin about, seriously how you ever even seen him play and if you did you must be angry because he always destroyed whatever team you liked.
rodman had 16 rebounds by the half
Pippen was underrated
Pippen was great too. But as always you need a backup and a good threat to have a better game plan. They complemented each other.
And so was Dennis Rodman
That NBC intro was live , the golden era of the NBA
