I'm so in love with this song because not only does it capture my emotional state, but it says exactly what I want to say. I'm not very good at expressing myself, but Shirley is so eloquent. Her lines cut like a knife. And the way she sings it, her voice almost breaking! Garbage are freaking geniuses! This is hands down THE BEST SONG EVER!!!
I love it when Shirley stretches herself vocally as she has such a wide vocal range.Also when she gets angry or bitter.It really shines out in the song.This is one of them.Startung slow and melancholy and building up into a rage.Reminds me of the brilliant Silence is Golden from Beautiful Garbage.But nothing beats Even Though our Love us Doomed on this album.Such emotion such desperation yet defiance achingly sad yet beautiful for star crossed lovers everywhere
I agree. This is THE perfect song from ME to YOU. Also, although you say "Shirley's lines cut like a knife", this song was not one that she solely wrote the lyrics, although most are. This one was a group effort the whole way through, and this is also a special one where it's not just Shirley singing, there's also another member of Garbage singing some of the lyrics with her. 💔
At first I completely ignored this song, but when I switched phones, it started to come up at the beginning of the album, and it automagically became my favorite track. The lyrics, the music, it's simply amazing, I like how it relates to the growth of a weak individual into a stronger one who got over lots of horrible thoughts and things... I kind of felt identified in some parts of it. Absolutely amazing!

Growing up with Garbage's music, I first thought was causing more harm than good, since I was in jr high and I was just battling to make sense of my own sexuality and persona, but after looking back at all the shit I've gone through... This band has helped me progress a lot in my personal cosmovision, general consciousness and self awareness.
This song seems to gather all those experiences and finally put in words one of the biggest steps to maturity; forgive and forget.
This IS exactly what I feel. 🙏

This song brings out the dichotomy of anger and rage. I have been on both sides of the song and it's painful. Yet the passion of it is remarkable.

There was someone deeply important in my left who I walked away from & many years later I wished she would hear this song and find it in her heart to forgive me. Sadly, that didn't happen and most likely never will. You guys really created a masterpiece of an apology song. The lyrics are brutally honest & have the longing of seeking forgiveness that so many people NEED. Garbage has & will always remain my favorite musical artist. 😔💔🖤

this should have been a james bond theme. this album 'strange little birds' has overtaken everything else Garbage has ever done, for me, and is now my favourite Garbage album. i like the way the group has taken a look back over the years and almost made a counterpart for the first two albums, it's nostalgic whilst also completely new, rocking and absolutely stunning. The vocals, the sound the production ia dark, rich and inmense. when the orchestra kicks in at about 2.30 and shirleys tone. hope theres a lot more albums in them yet. This song became my power ballad because i actually forgave people who seriously wronged me growing up and it was divine. I wrote a book about it that i am self publishing! They should have made the amends but i will be the bigger person, always.
Version 2.0 still rules them all on the production side.
Nothing beats the first but I like them all for what they are

@@Erinni3 hiya. I cant believe I posted that comment 4 years ago. The book came on A LOT after that. It ended up going full into my childhood so it is pretty harrowing and brutal at times but the second half is a lot more into healing and moving on. Theres a few surprises in there to so here is the link....it officially came out in March this year so am quite proud and feeling quite brave after going into what I did...would love to know what you think of it ❤ I published it myself so it should be in various places, Sweet Dreams by Andrew Turvill. The climax reminds me of The Fragile of Nine Inch Nails. And is too epic! Maybe this is my favorite song of this album.

Pretty hardcore fan here for both Garbage and NIN, and it does have a similar rythm and textures. NIN has always been ahead of their time :3

Mind blowing
The perfect closure to a perfect album, and their darkest one to date. "Epic" falls short to define this one.
I wasn't a fan of this song when I first heard it, but it's slowly grown on me, and now, I really love it. The lyrics really help in painting a really dark and sad picture... Creepy at some points even. There's a lot going on in this song. It's heavy as hell.
I get you...I got this immediately, it made me think about my childhood and what happened. Very dark, and angsty. All sorts of horror. Then i grew, literally as the lyrics say and i became the better person and forgave, and made amends, not with them but forgiving myself for feeling how i did and did things i did to survive. And i do forgive those, but i guess this song makes me make amends with myself on some level, which is pretty damn good.
This is beautiful, man. Sometimes we feel like there's no way out of where we are, but we slowly climb up and morph into something more whole than we were before with new layers and ideas to help us survive and understand what all went on.
