Very cool! I've always wanted to know EXACTLY what's going on inside the head and now I know!

You asked, "These are cam lobes"? Other guy answers, "No". When in fact those are cam lobes and that is a camshaft, you were correct.

ah what a waste I am need of an engine for my 05 GS mine has 150K + miles all with me it was running fine But I managed to sink it in a puddle whilst out trailriding and filled the bottom end full of water it did'nt like it. I have found a RT engine to swap but my understanding is the camshafts are different so this video may well be usefull. perhaps with your knowledge you could confirm the RT/GS cam difference and is the only one in the engine, and to change it would be better to loosen all head nuts/bolts to reduce the load on the head not just the valve train assembly . Thanks from Wales for the vid very educational.

If it won't go back in, I'd guess you need to lift, twist or push something into place to line up the holes. It can be tough to see though - a helper with a small flashlight could come in handy.
