The slob was extremely scary and weird to me even when I was young, it feels like watching a guy go through a depressive episode in season one and a manic episode in later seasons. It’s like the host is just filming a mentally ill man and it’s very uncomfortable

I was never afraid of the slob (weird as there were puppets that still terrify me to this day). Though, it did scare me when the slob was in a bad mood and shouting at the camera to get out of his house. He was always so reserved and to see him loud/mean was pretty off-putting.

If anyone cares, I'll give you guys the rest of the games.
Think Tank was hosted by Capt'n Bob, a Jamaican stereotype who somehow got stuck in his fishtank and showed the viewer three objects that have one thing in common. Like camera, basketball player, and stars (all of them 'shoot'). His name is (most likely) a reference to Bob Marley.
Sketch Pad was hosted by a hipster, well, sketch artist conveniently named Sketch. He would draw the viewer a story, but leave out one page, and have the viewer guess what page was missing and make the story make sense.
Word Shake was hosted by an odd hybrid of French and Italian stereotypes (but apparently was canonically American-French in origin) who was known as Chef Pierre. He presents the viewer with two to four letter words, and mixed them together to create a new word (like Purr and Pull = Purple).
Ten 2nds gives the viewers ten seconds each to solve four to five rebus puzzles (a puzzle consisting of an image doing a common phrase, such as a waterfall showing the word 'water' slowly descending down the screen).
Riddle Snake consists of an unseen raj reading riddles from the titular Riddlesnake. The Riddlesnake charms a man who blows a kazoo to reveal the answer.

It aired at 10am, and hotel checkout was typically at 11, so in order to watch it, I purposefully delayed my family's hotel checkouts for literal YEARS. Never packed bags in advance, took purposefully long bathroom breaks, ate an absurdly large breakfast, etc., all so I could solve and memorize Crashbox puzzles. That show will forever be responsible for my love of logic puzzles and my hatred of packing for vacation. :p

Moving in with our mom she had satellite tv and we got to watch everything we didn’t even know the channels went past 77. My step dad would watch movies at night on HBO and when we would turn on the tv in the afternoon after school it would still be on so we started watching Crashbox. My brother and I loved it, from the pirate guy, to the submarine that would sink into the drain, and the revolting slob which was our favorite because of the gross factor. The timed anxiety driven puzzles and quizzes actually helped both of us with school specifically the math segments. Good times.

I very rarely had HBO as a child but whenever I did I would seek out this show as much as I could. The eddie bull song still gets stuck in my head.

even though i was born in 2005 this was my childhood i thank crashbox for my quick thinking, my willingness to dig deeper through the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood, and my love for steampunk. My grandmother loved this show and i would get up every morning at 6am just to catch the one or two episodes that would air. Those are some of my favorite memories. (tldr im a nerd and i blame crashbox)

4:08 had to pause right here because my little middle-aged Gen xer heart just got warmed from you mentioning Brain Games. I used to love the Brain Games segments on HBO when I was a kid! Haven't thought of them in years, literally a couple of decades to be honest.❤

The distraction news reminds me of when I did academic UIL in school. One competition was called "Listening". There's no distractions, but you literally listen to a speaker do a 10-minute discussion and at the end you're quizzed on how much you remember of the details.

Loved this show was singing along to some of these games, watched it a lot as a kid when family was able to afford cable and HBO was a part of the package.
None of my friends have seen this or "Happily ever after fairytale for every child", happy to see a light shines on this show.

so cool to see a youtuber talk about crashbox, the only other person ive seen mention it is jerma which makes sense because he lives in the same void that crashbox does in my mind
anyway it used to be an obscure childhood memory for me and then me and my sister binged it on streaming a few years ago. kind of surprised it hasn't gotten super popular by now on TikTok or smth since it reminds me so much of the vibe jack stauber has, things like that inspire me sm artistically i love it
    2000's mixed media my beloved♥️✨

I absolutely ADORED Crashbox when I was a child. It was so odd and charming. Going to family members houses who didn’t have the normal “kids channels” was so much less boring when it was on.

My older siblings were born in the nineties. When my siblings and I were born, we watched what they watched, as well as what my parents favored. Crashbox was one of them. My parents were born in the fine days of the early to late seventies. They watched eighties media (alien, strawberry shortcake, disney, etc.) So we got to watch Crashbox on HBO. My fave segment was Paige and Sage bcoz ofc

Crashbox was a magnet to true creatives! Like anytime I mention Crashbox to someone and they remember.... they tend to be true of heart.
There's something special about this show, somehow it's really important to me.
Oh and I gotta say... Professor Rocket was my favorite character. Maybe because his voice reminds me of DMX, and he distracted me so much from the math I didn't feel bad for sucking at it.. lmaoooooo but my favorite is somewhere between Psycho Math, Eddie Bull and Radio Scramble. I HATED Revolting Slob.... with a vivd memory of disgust. Thank you for this deep dive down the 90's baby memory lane!

Then I got my HBO subscription and stumbled upon it and I FINALLY HAD AN ANSWER
