Also cleaning the filter if plugged is easy if you turn down the air or regulate the air pressure down to about 40 to 50 psi and back blow it (outside to inside). Won't damage the filter if using lower pressure
OSHA’s hearing protection is based off of your ear being 12” away from the noise maker and it’s scaled based off of TIME. More acute loud noises, the less time you can be unprotected around it; and the inverse is true. Also, just because the noise level is lower, you may still need hearing protection if you’re around it long enough. That said, just always use hearing protection - there’s so little reason not to.
Very good review. I have the 1.5 hp Jet Cyclone unit in my 16'x22' shop. I have 4" pvc running to a floor sweep, miter saw station, table saw, and thickness planer. The thickness planer is on the end of the run, about 16-18' from the unit. It does an excellent job at all stations as long as i only have 1 gate open at a time. Kinda wishing i would have run a main 6" line. Maybe later. I too have been using my planer and filled both the drum and dust bag. What a mess. All in all i'm very happy with the 1.5 in my small shop. Thanks again.
I see that Oneida air systems has a "full drum indication light" that can be added to dust collectors. It attaches to the drum and you can adjust the level at which it alarms at. I think it is called Oneida dust sentry.
i bought a 2hp double barrel system about 3 years ago... discontinued, super cheap... but i want to modify to include a cyclone so this was great - may have to disassemble the entire thing but that's what we're all about.. right? should be able to weld the cone, then attach it... a bit of work but unless i F it up, way cheaper than the prebuilt
Just got an amazing deal on one of these the three horsepower version, I haven't picked it up yet as I don't have the space for it in my small hobby shop. I was wondering if anyone have any information on how this thing will perform if I simply mount it outside on a enclosed dry but very cold in the winter rear porch
Thank you for the review. I'm glad your personable experience has been great. In my regional area of the US, Jet's customer service has taken a serious hit. The local woodworking supplier of Jet has cautioned people to steer to another brand. This is a shame too because this product hits at the perfect price spot for me.
Thanks for the video. Are you still seeing a lot of dust in the filter bag? Looks like more than I would have expected from a cyclone system. Is a problem? Does the paddle clean it enough or have you found yourself using a blower and paddle? You still happy with the system? I'm looking at this model or the JCDC 3hp model. Just not sure I like the shorter cyclones. Thanks!
Bought this unit, works well. Was wondering if anyone else noticed while doing a lot if planning the cyclone pretty much only gets about 95% of the chips/ dust. For every 10 full canisters of chips/dust there's a full bag of chips dust under the filter assembly. Is that normal? Other cyclones separates a lot better.
I see the same thing. My theory is that the cyclone is pretty shallow allowing some stuff to carry over. If you look at some of the other systems by Oneida and Clear Vue, the cyclones are much taller with steeper sides. I haven't had a chance to work with or operate one of those units, but my guess is the shape of the cyclone makes a difference.
Do you have a long run that connects to the unit? Also what size pipe and type of pipe are you using? I'm thinking about getting this and would like to hear your feedback.
@@martymurphy7852 No, I purchased the Laguna 3 HP, probably should have purchased the Jet. The Laguna had a known problem with the circuit board, but they continued to sell them without changing to the fixed circuit board. They sent me a new circuit board which I had to install. The machine works now that the new board is installed.
im seeing a lot of reviews for people being very unhappy with the quality of JET anymore. How was this unit when it was delivered. Missing parts, terrible paint, almost like used equipment is what im seeing in reviews. Very hard to find any decent tools anymore. Make cheap, make fast, make money, and who cares about the consumer; the way of the come and go CEO
You have 230 volts? Funny well that might mean your not in the United States becuse the standard are 120-240-480 and so on. They were 110-220-440 years ago then it changed to 115-230-460 But currently its 120-240-480 To understand this you need to read ac voltage history. As time passes the voltages have changed to meet new homes demands. Now in a perfect world you'll read right off your meter 240 volts ac. I said perfect world but you'll find max voltages of 240 It can be between 230 to 240 real world voltages.
I've got the same unit and have been very pleased with it. My filter flapper handle vibrates as well!
Great job John glad to see you back on UA-cam..
Thanks. Good to be back.
Thank you Great explanation! I just purchased the 3 hp one and haven''t hook it up yet.
Hey, hows that JCDC-3? I am looking to buy it this week!
Great to see John again
Thanks Logan.
Finally a real review from TIA! Thanks John
Yeah no shit, those other two knuckle heads just bring tools to the table, and that's it

So if I'm 1 foot away from my wife. I need 9db reduction in noise.
Good review. I like how compact this unit is. Some DC units take up much more space.
Thanks for the review, I've been looking for a dust collector and your evaluation really helped.

How do you like the JCDC-3?

@@tugnut1 That's the same conclusion I came up with. Not good. Going to call jet and see what's going on. It's a pain changing out that bag.

Nice John, great review. Would love to see a few more shots of your DC duct runs.
Any updates on your dust collector, still working or any problems?
Welcome John!!!
Thanks Brian.
Thanks for the review!
I take my filter off every few months and blow it clean using my leaf blower. Works excellent
Thank you for douing this review, it is well done. one Jet sucker like this will be mine too...
Thanks for the thorough review. How long is the power cord?
Great review! I'm presently looking at purchasing the Jet 3 hp cyclone dust collector.

@@edcarpenter5986Of course they did. Can’t think of a company with a worse reputation than Laguna.

Welcome John!
Thanks Streeters Garage. I'm glad to be here.
Streeters Garage Jhon!!! Hiii!
Hey there Walter. Nice to hear from you buddy.
Can I use this to remove vermiculite insulation from my attic? Thanks.
Do you have to run a bag in the primary can or can it be bagless
I have a window tint shop bout 1000sq ft. Which unit works best. Does it help cleaning those flying particles dust. window film has a static
If money wasn’t an issue would you opt for the JCDC3?
No need unless you have a professional shop with multiple workers using bunch of tools at once. Waste of money if it's just you in your garage imo.
Great video. Thanks!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching.
Awesome review thank you
Any update after two years?
he was working with workshop addicts. Where has he been all these years?
No Dan and Eric?
They are still the guys. I'm just the new guy.
Nice review!
Glass Impressions thanks.
