"We could give him [Patters] the Washer woman's ability and he would act like that" And that, my fellow UA-cam viewers, is why Patters is the GOAT. Not because he's the best player, but because he will be Patters no matter what, and that's what the viewers want
The Wizard wish I would ask for would be "I wish that the lowest number of votes on a nomination is the person who is executed. No minimum number of votes required."
Once it was solved everyone would tie on 1 and town wouldn't be able to have any executions so there would have to be some price clause about ties favoring good or something
The wizard in my first wizard game did exactly this, the price was that the wizard also died on day one which ironically ended up throwing us off more because the deaths felt super arbitrary
@@spiner9099 Not really, it's just inverted voting. Each hand down is a vote rather than a hand up. The main change is that there is 1 abstain from voting rather than 1 vote for dead players If someone isn't nominated at all, theyre not executed because they did not receive the nomination with the fewest votes
@@spiner9099That would not happen that way at all. Not voting would become a vote, and a vote would equal not voting. Someone only getting 1 vote with 12 players is the equivalent of 11 people voting on you in a regular game. That is the actual proper "solve". Good would need to vote to save trusted players and anyone that allows that sort of tie would look suspicious. Also that implies a meta where Good needs to guarantee 4 votes not on the demon like in a regular game but on every other player nominated instead. People would note vote less, they actually would vote more. The only scenario where that doesn't happen is one in which town decides to collectively agree on only one nomination per day to not end up in a situation where they would need to actually spend dead votes to guaranty executions too early. Because imagine a final 4 with 1 good alive. Good not only needs to identify the demon, nominate the demon, and put 4+ to put it on the block. They would need to not vote on the demon and also guaranty 4+ on the 3 other nominations evil would make. That's already 9 dead votes that need to be correctly used. Already impossible on a 12 player game because you only have a maximum of 8 dead votes on the good team total. Same scenario with 2 good and 2 evil, if good only noms once the demon, evil only has 2 noms and good only needs 2 dead votes per nom so only 4 instead of 9 in the previous example. Also a good player voting on the demon would bump 4 to 7 instead which is the maximum amount you have. A stupid second nomination from good would cost them an extra 2 dead votes so 6 instead of 4. And a vote on the demon in that scenario means you need 10 dead votes instead which is impossible. From that scenario if good chooses to sleep. That's again 6 dead votes to guaranty the execution and impossible if a single good player votes for the demon. Whereas it was still possible on 4. Idk if that's too confusing but anyways the idea is that it only impacts the voting pattern regarding the use of dead votes from a purely voting pattern perspective. I can't tell how this would affect nomination pattern though that would differ too much depending on group behaviour, depending on how chaotic the game is or not.
49:13 Anything ending in "-mancy" traditionally refers to divination. Telling the future or learning hidden knowledge. A necromancer learning secrets from the dead, an oneiromancer foretelling yhe future based on dreams, etc. So a "milkomancer" (probably actually a "galamancer" based on the Greek roots) would somehow learn things from milk. When we playtested this as a group, the empath was sat between the demon and the fortune teller who checked the demon against themselves first night. Cerenovous also came out immediately, and yet somehow, despite the entire evil team being outed the good team lost (mainly to one person breaking madness three days in a row, combined with poor ghost vote choices). Amazing and ridiculous game.

That final night and the start of the final day might be the hardest I've laughed in a while. Poor Patters had to deal with such a confluence of bullshit it was astounding.
My first three wishes will probably be: “Ever other night & day, starting night one, everyone receives misinformation as if a Vortex is in play” “Half of the good players become drunk for the rest of the game” and use it on day two probably, so it’s just so confusing. “Anytime someone self nominates, they die instantly and the day end the day immediately”
Just watched Jams absolutely sell me on the Wizard on patters' channel before starting this. Such a fun and chaotic character Edit: This was equally chaotic, I love this character
Just saw the Arif wizard game where the amne ability was they chose 3 players they get wishes that night because the wizard wished for 3 people per night to get wishes it went as hilariously as you might think.
I think wizard games are an absolute blast to watch, and I can't wait to see more of them. That said, I feel like i would really dislike playing in one. They are a bundle of chaos and nearly impossible to actually win by skill. So I simultaneously love and don't love the character. When the wizard is in the bag, I'll just sit out the game and watch the chaos ensue.
Imagine the chaos a wish like "I wish x people gain the snakecharmer ability" could create. Or the way people getting the goon ability, while being able to affect others could create ever shifting teams, massive misinformation, but also would stifle the kills making it possible for people to start strategizing the recruitment war it'd turn into. Part of the cost inherently being that the demon or minions themselves could also be turned good....
I like that good players have triage the presence of a wizard. Does it look safe to ignore them and find the demon - considering the unknown effects of the wish - or do they need to priotise working it out, especially considering that identifying and killing the wizard will likely not affect anything other than let the good team further meta that player's wish!
when I think of a role like wizard, I feel like I'd just want to cause chaos. So, I'd probably wish for something very silly like "everyone gets the information the neighbor to their right would have received." At first people might think they're drunk or be really confused, but then people will have to decide if they trust their neighbor enough to give them their information. And if I'm lucky, my demon might get some really good info. But its blind enough that I feel like the price would be reasonable? Honestly, an ability like that, I just would want to make the game more fun with silliness.
My first thought on a Wizard Wish: Necromancy! - I wish that once a character dies, they join the evil team. Perhaps a price to this is that characters might be brought back to life and return to their original alignment or perhaps when demons ( Imp ) and minions die, they flip alignment. It doesn't wildly change the board state but can come in clutch for a final vote or for clouding living players knowledge because the dead members have switched sides. It also doesn't change the dead's roles, so they won't know who the minions are nor the Demon unless the Wizard outs himself.
The wizard wish I'd make is that nominations work as normal but after the person is voted out successfully, the person that nominated them is out instead but the people voted out that way become evil until the next person is voted out.
Thought about an Amne ability that links to the wizard ability: "You are safe from the wizard wish. If you would have been affected by the wish the previous day, you learn a yes that night."
Great game! I Feel like it might have been appropriate to an evil player mad on the last night and maybe to have given patters some advice that wasn't helpful but wasn't just telling him to throw the game. Fun to watch though :)
Since people are sharing Wizard wish ideas: 1) Only one nomination can be made each day (I expect the cost would be something like Minions can't nominate so they can't just end every day early. Demon still can, but if they do it for multiple days in a row people will get suspicious and the clue would be the day just immediately ending after the first nomination with no further calls etc.) 2) A nomination only counts if a second living person seconds that nomination (Probably only really matters on final day as everyone will know and I imagine the seconding will largely be a formality most of the time) 3) (Made ASAP, before I have any clue what the outsider count is) All outsiders simultaneously have all outsider abilities (Mostly just for chaos)
I want Ben to get good enough to accept a wish from a wizard that gives the wizard ability to every other characters and not die irl from the gigantic amount of improvisation that Will be needed , just for fun chaos
That would have an unfair advantage for the good team without a serious cost, and might make things unfun for people unless an appropriate price was paid.
@@lordnacl5277 That's actually a good one. Another I recently realized could work would also be, "Your wish is my command. You are good. You are also the Heretic. Good luck."
Here's my first thought for a wizard wish: "I wish to gain the Zombuul's ability." Definitely on the subtler side, its viability would definitely depend on what Price & Clue get attached.
What, as the wizard? Including the ability to kill? If that was an off script zombuul it would super strong not to mention having two evil demons so that price would immense
@@spiner9099 Zombuul can only kill if there's no executions so it wouldn't kill much throughout the game. Also it wouldn't be a 2nd demon, just a demon's ability, so the Wizard wouldn't be a win condition.
Here is my take on custom experimental characters. They may or may not be similar to new official experimental characters. Wording is not official but I think everybody understands them. Townfolk Rope Walker If all evil players voted for your execution but you didn't die, you wake up in the next night and choose to learn if one player is evil or not. Mystic If you die by night, you are woken to choose two living players other than yourself. Decided by the storyteller, one of them will die that night, other one cant die that night even if it has been previously killed that night. Prayer At night when there is 6 players or less left, you wake up to learn one player who is not evil. This effect triggers only once per game and this character is woken up last. Outsiders Tippy Toe If you are executed, one living townsfolk becomes minion in the next night. If you are poisoned or drunk, you can not die at night. Happy Fellow Every time someone is been executed during the day, you wake up the next night to be asked if you want swap to that character blindly. If you swap, you are no longer Happy Fellow and you are part of the team that your new character currently is. If the game has not ended and you swap to Demon, the previous Demon becomes Lunatic. Otherwise the other player is now the dead Happy Fellow.
If the price was for the evil team to only get one swap, that price wasn't honored initially from the sound of it. It made it more funny to do it this way, but after the demon kill, another swap was offered. After the second wish was granted, it didn't matter though. Was the price supposed to be related to the evil swaps with evil limitation or evil getting to choose the swap results? 40:06
If you really hate your ST, "I wish that every player has a unique amnesiac ability." You can tweak it, such as "...ability that requires them to wake in the night and make a choice" or something to preference, just in case you think your ST will give everyone an ability like "you can ask the ST if you have an ability during the day," "you can nominate twice per day, but one of the choices must be a dead player"... and then decide not to inform anyone that they have a new ability etc.
i got the wizard in my first and only wizard game and my wish was the give everyone the klutz ability and the last person chosen by a klutz couldnt be chosen by a klutz or a demon and the second player chosen by a klutz was the poisoner
@BloodontheClocktower Lovely 😊 I may or may not have forgotten that Balloonist is an experimental character. It feels base-3-like to me (a good thing).
My favorite part is that this particular fisherman advice was arguably the most important information to receive in the game. I would challenge anyone to correct my assumption that the players who chose to lie throughout the game were the first in a line of dominoes that aided evil's victory more than anything else. They couldn't have known that as they were lying, of course! I think every townsfolk in BotC who chooses to lie the entire game assumes that they're the only player doing so, which quickly spirals everything out of control since they have no way of finding out that misinformation outnumbers information in Ravenswood Bluff. Watching a farmer fake claim about being a used up first night role (guaranteeing they wouldn't be killed at night) is already chaotic without several other people committing to lies. It was beautiful. How can I possibly complain about antisocial playstyles getting rewarded by a town loss? Watching the madness unfold was such a highlight!
From the games I've seen the wizard used in so far, I would say it's like Christmas music. Christmas songs great to hear for a short time in December, but no sane person wants to hear them all year long. Too much of a gimmick for me to consider it a mainstay character.
Yep I am behind this viewpoint. I would bloody hate playing against this as good in every game. Like they said: takes practice but tell me where you are gonna find 10 people to practice and put up with this in person.

Just saw the Arif wizard game where the amne ability was they chose 3 players they get wishes that night because the wizard wished for 3 people per night to get wishes it went as hilariously as you might think.
My wizard wish proposal:
“I wish that every player is ceranovus mad that they have one of their neighbours abilities”
I got my wish...
And it was very helpful, thank you ;)
I think wizard games are an absolute blast to watch, and I can't wait to see more of them.
What a wild ride this game was
I see that it's a wizard of level 17 or more.
i can't wait for somebody to cook for the entire year until they can finally tell the ST "I wish you a merry christmas"
Been looking forward to seeing this video and the chaos this character can provide!
well Ben is definitely an ARG player
also, ben has obviously not seen JourneyQuest or he would have known the proper term is "lactomancer"
NRB is gonna cause some massive shenanigans with a Wizard😮
"I couldn't have just drawn the f****** wizard could I?"
Hahahaha, patters is amazing.
Why are you censoring fuck? It's not even like it was censored in the video
THE CAROUSEL, LET'S GOOOO❤❤❤
"Oh I wish The Goblins really WOULD come and take you away!"
You remind me of the babe
Granted. All other players now have the goblin ability. You become a Traveler. (So they can exile you and take you away).
@@lordkandarWhat babe?
Great game! I Feel like it might have been appropriate to an evil player mad on the last night and maybe to have given patters some advice that wasn't helpful but wasn't just telling him to throw the game. Fun to watch though :)
A Milkomancer would definitely just be that dairy guy from Misfits
Since people are sharing Wizard wish ideas:
1) Only one nomination can be made each day (I expect the cost would be something like Minions can't nominate so they can't just end every day early. Demon still can, but if they do it for multiple days in a row people will get suspicious and the clue would be the day just immediately ending after the first nomination with no further calls etc.)
2) A nomination only counts if a second living person seconds that nomination (Probably only really matters on final day as everyone will know and I imagine the seconding will largely be a formality most of the time)
3) (Made ASAP, before I have any clue what the outsider count is) All outsiders simultaneously have all outsider abilities (Mostly just for chaos)
These were some Subtle Spell wishes that got granted. Fun game!
I wish that all abilities meant to happen at night happen during the day, and all abilities meant to happen during the day happen at night instead
I wish that when my demon has enough votes to be executed, they become a Zombuul.
I want Ben to get good enough to accept a wish from a wizard that gives the wizard ability to every other characters and not die irl from the gigantic amount of improvisation that Will be needed , just for fun chaos
Check out the game on Arif’s channel
1:17:50 Sweeney Todd is NOT a mediocre musical
I said mediocre movie! - Ben
Edd misspoke
What if the wizard's wish is, "I wish to be on the good team" though?
Maybe some Townsfolk became evil? Maybe become evil minions even!
I’d probably go cool, the evil team are barber swapped with random good players.
That would have an unfair advantage for the good team without a serious cost, and might make things unfun for people unless an appropriate price was paid.
Granted, a good player becomes a new evil demon if the original demon dies
@@lordnacl5277 That's actually a good one. Another I recently realized could work would also be, "Your wish is my command. You are good. You are also the Heretic. Good luck."
1:08:00 they grant the wish of removing the cost, by adding back what is essentially the same cost, which feels real bad
They gave a weaker cost for 2 wishes though
I listened to this and had to look was that evil Brooke talking about Wizard
Here's my first thought for a wizard wish: "I wish to gain the Zombuul's ability." Definitely on the subtler side, its viability would definitely depend on what Price & Clue get attached.
What, as the wizard? Including the ability to kill? If that was an off script zombuul it would super strong not to mention having two evil demons so that price would immense
@@spiner9099 Zombuul can only kill if there's no executions so it wouldn't kill much throughout the game. Also it wouldn't be a 2nd demon, just a demon's ability, so the Wizard wouldn't be a win condition.
😲😲😲 a new official script!!!
BotC Jams & NRB Holly "How to storytell the Wizard" video coming soon???
Here is my take on custom experimental characters. They may or may not be similar to new official experimental characters. Wording is not official but I think everybody understands them.
Townfolk
Rope Walker
If all evil players voted for your execution but you didn't die, you wake up in the next night and choose to learn if one player is evil or not.
Mystic
If you die by night, you are woken to choose two living players other than yourself. Decided by the storyteller, one of them will die that night, other one cant die that night even if it has been previously killed that night.
Prayer
At night when there is 6 players or less left, you wake up to learn one player who is not evil. This effect triggers only once per game and this character is woken up last.
Outsiders
Tippy Toe
If you are executed, one living townsfolk becomes minion in the next night. If you are poisoned or drunk, you can not die at night.
Happy Fellow
Every time someone is been executed during the day, you wake up the next night to be asked if you want swap to that character blindly. If you swap, you are no longer Happy Fellow and you are part of the team that your new character currently is. If the game has not ended and you swap to Demon, the previous Demon becomes Lunatic. Otherwise the other player is now the dead Happy Fellow.
as a staunch jams denier, i think that the price she created sux, it doesnt feel like a price but instead just a rule
this turned my brain into mush
🎉 that was fun to watch.
Can I wish for 3 more wishes?
Only if you're prepared to accept the price! - Ben
Wizard: i wish i am good
*PROCEEDS TO MAKE EVERY EVIL PLAYER A GOOD OUTSIDER AND EVERY GOOD PLAYER A EVIL LEGION*
Me: Your wish is my command :D
If the price was for the evil team to only get one swap, that price wasn't honored initially from the sound of it. It made it more funny to do it this way, but after the demon kill, another swap was offered. After the second wish was granted, it didn't matter though. Was the price supposed to be related to the evil swaps with evil limitation or evil getting to choose the swap results? 40:06
Evils weren't allowed to swap *themselves* more than once
In other words, because a swapped wizard makes a new wish, they limit the number of evil wishes
The ST can simply reject ridiculous wishes
I would have made the amni ability: Publicly identify the wizard and become a good wizard.
What a stupid fucking game. I haven't laughed so much at a grim reveal in a long long time. Thank you for posting this.
i got the wizard in my first and only wizard game and my wish was the give everyone the klutz ability and the last person chosen by a klutz couldnt be chosen by a klutz or a demon and the second player chosen by a klutz was the poisoner
i do find it quite frustrating, except for the wizard barber swaps.. there were no barber swaps in the town
...why is that frustrating?
@PriorCracker because the whole wish was barber.. and no barber swaps happened after the initial wizards.. so less chaos
Does 'The Carousel' include the new Balloonist?
It includes every experimental character. - Ben
@BloodontheClocktower Lovely 😊
I may or may not have forgotten that Balloonist is an experimental character. It feels base-3-like to me (a good thing).
I wish for infinite wishes!
There’s always that one guy…
I love my misinformation being organically grown 😂😂
Like Atheist, Heretic…
@@q-tuber7034 Yes, those one's too. Throw them on a script every so often to throw a twist on a game (or bluff that they did).
