The joke about Spike Lee was that in a "What If" universe where MLK is alive and his biopic is greenlit, he would want to be it's director. Spike Lee has been known to direct films about the Black experience, including "Malcolm X". Malcolm X was a civil rights activist who was active during the 1960s. He had some similarities to MLK but he was Muslim and was more radical.
The name 'Huey Freeman' is a play on words. In 1966, upon inspiration of the slain civil rights leader Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X) who had once been described as a black panther, Huey P. Newton started the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. He was responsible for establishing food banks, free clinics, a free breakfast program for children, and other institutions for the upliftment of the African American community. In 1967, Newton had been arrested for the murder of a police officer in a shootout in Oakland, California. Although convicted in 1968 to serve up to 15 years in prison, the conviction was overturned in 1970. During his time in prison, a popular saying to be shouted and left as graffiti had been "Free Huey!" This is the source of Huey Freeman's name.
Yeah, that brief scene of Huey messing up that interviewer is absolutely fire! He said, "Fine, you won't let MLK finish his sentence. You don't get to either."
this is one of the best boondocks episodes in my opinion. its crazy how much this show still holds up today and most situations could be applied to many people

Did you post earlier than usual?? I just got home sat down to eat and immediately thought about your reaction to this episode I was like “ I think she drops today “ not knowing I was 4 days late 😢😂
I'm always excited to see your reactions Asylka, they're always fun!❤This episode is a perfect episode to react to right now, if you don't know the rapper Sexy Red is being hailed in America right now. She and other celebs are being celebrated for their ratchet/ghetto behaviour. Her music is all about sex and her privates yet teachers in black schools are playing it for CHILDREN to listen to! And for boys Male rappers talk about violence and money. This is what the episode was talking about, a lot of people in the black community praising this behaviour as something to look up to, and like the episode shows if Martin Luther King saw this he probably be disappointed as to what our society has become
@Nesa.007 Oh, so an inner city school and not your average suburban school. Thanks for the clarification. I thought we jumped back into the days of segregation, arbitrarily labeling schools as black or white.
@Asylka Toons Ive watched your entire channel and this reaction was great like always!! Im a fairly rich 43 year old, highly educated black American, gaijin otaku "perv". With that said, I wanted to say I really enjoy looking at your beautiful asian face and innocent reactions. I pray to god you never quit bravely sharing yourself with randoms.
Bruh the fact shorty thought the shit was real took me out 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Come on, she’s not from the states. I don’t think her school’s curriculum in her upbringing had any lectures on Dr. MLKJ

Very deep 👏🏻
This episode is more like "what if" situation. MLK actually died when he was shot all those years ago
No he didn’t he’s in Cuba with Tupac and Eddie Guerrero

They don't fully understand.
and still relevant to this day 💀
Funny enough the Anniversary of Martin Kuther King Jr being shot(and killed) was a yesterday, he was shot and taken to the hospital where he died
King renaming his book from "Dream Deferred" to "Dream Deterred" is so heartbreaking.
This episode was a dramatization of what would happen is mlk was still alive.... thinking about it in reality makes me sad
Thanks for sharing your reaction with us

Not real he died in 1968. This just recreating what he might be like.
I'm so angry, not at this girl who is spreading the word but for the lack of those fully explaining it. 😢
I love these videos. Please keep them coming!
I'm curious, have you ever been to the United States?

It’s obvious that this not real u can literally search up his death date
Yeah I though that he was dead that’s why I was confused for a second in the beginning, but than I though maybe my knowledge about MLK is not correct
