I've been in Atlanta since 2000. I have a small house in unincorporated Decatur paid for. My business is thriving. But yes the traffic can be bad. Crime depends upon who and where you kicking it. In other words don't hang around folks that behave badly. If Black, ATLANTA is a great place to start a business because the feedback my business receives is that my my Black customers love supporting black businesses.

I lived in Atlanta for 18 years and although I hated the traffic, I LOVED the city and all that it has to offer people of all races, colors, ages, religions, and creeds. The most beautiful way to experience the 100,000+ trees is to go to the top of Stone Mountain and take a look around. It's free to climb the mountain yourself or you can pay a nominal fee to ride the trolley to the top! It's an experience you will never forget!!!

I speak for the real Atlantians, no disrespect to the out of towners, but I miss my old Atlanta, it was so laid back and cool, real southern hospitality, people waving, speaking and just cooling, the out of towners brought the way they live down here and change the A, it's not Atlanta anymore, I call it the whole world USAlanta lol, not the same anymore, you barely meet anyone from here, they look at us like we from out of town lol. It's a weird Hollywood scary feeling now. I'm born and raised here, it's not the same energy anymore 😪Atlanta wasn't built for this, but they forced it on us. RIP to the old Atlanta🤣😭😭

As someone who travels a lot, I love the airport. I know it’s huge and I know the line can be a nightmare if you don’t have PreCheck, but I love that you can get a direct flight or a flight with one connection to anywhere on earth because damn near every airline uses them as a hub. The traffic is wild, but it’s not as bad as LA.

That’s a tough transition coming from the West Coast. Especially if you’re specifically referring to Cali. Everything is different. You go from seeing mountains everywhere you look to having your view blocked by a billion trees. The culture is different, the people are different, the weather ain’t the same. It’s like moving to a new country damn near. Most people that move to Atlanta from Cali, end up going back.

Same here. I love this place. The three main types of crime are theft, murder, and illegal street racing.
The racing part is just noisy, so not a big deal. The murder part is primarily between people that know each other, so not a direct threat....but still unnerving to be around. Theft is the one to be concerned with - basically, don’t leave anything in your car.

    • @MansSuperPower
      @MansSuperPower 3 роки тому +4

I totally agree. My bad Stacy. 🤣. I’ve been involved in the racing part. I recently traded my Dodge Challenger 392 6 Speed Manual with the mufflers cut off. The noise level was especially excruciating to my neighbors in the morning at 7 AM. But listen, I’ve had a bang for the past 4 years with it; been to lots of car shows and made lots of noise. 🙈. I’m not concerned with either the murder & theft as you said. They’re “relative”. Everybody is not automatically a target.

More ATL pros: All of our trees make for great urban beekeeping. Having traveled to over 60 countries and 40 states, we definitely have the friendliest and most efficient airport. We finally learned our lesson about just staying home for snow days. If you can drive on I-285 you can drive ANYWHERE else in the world, even the roundabout around the Champs Elysee. We have the most delicious eclectic food - one of my favorite restaurants has a combo sushi/falafel platter and what other city has a Black owned vegan food truck park? Also, the weather! The 2020 pandemic wasn't so bad when you could dine outdoors for 50 weeks of the year.
I came to ATL in 1992 to get my PhD at Emory then moved next door to CDC. I'll never leave!! In fact, I'm trying to figure out how to legally be burried in my backyard, lol.

    Good vid brother.
For me, having moved from LA to ATL a couple years ago, Atlanta traffic really isn't that bad. Outside of rush hours (AM, midday, PM), it's really not that bad at all.
Biggest problem is that people from ATL are terrible drivers, the area is very sprawled and the older roads are very small, which does cause unnecessary pileups.
Housing is crazy cheap compared to the big cities, but the northern suburbs are getting more expensive. Taxes/expenses are still great though.
Oh, and there are A LOT of trees haha. Doesn't matter if you're downtown or in the burbs, kinda all looks the same. Some people will like that, others won't.
Economy is great and the people are great. Also, some great food spots here.

I moved to the area in 2016. My biggest complaint is how apparent it is that families are no longer putting heavy emphasis on teaching proper manners, honor, and consideration of others around you. This is especially clear on the roads and highways. So many people are incredibly self-centered and it makes it very depressing to live here sometimes.

    • @thesharinganknight9859

Nice video! I lived in Atlanta for a few years and I enjoyed my time there for the most part. However, I think my biggest issue while living there was finding the true Atlanta. There are a lot of people who are not from there who currently call the city home. Therefore, in my opinion, there is a lot of fluff that you have to dig through to find the true culture, real people, and southern hospitality. A lot of people are just pretending to be “somebody” Bc that’s what seems to garner the most respect. I know that could be the case anywhere, but anybody who has lived in the city for any length of time, will tell you that that’s really a thing there.
Also, it does feel like the city is full. Lol Like just prepare for a commute. Traffic is just what it is. At this point, it feels like they’re just building on top of buildings, and soon Atlanta is going to be in Georgia and South Carolina. 😂 Atlanta is cool though. Be congnizant as you would in any other city and don’t be an annoying transplant. Try to immerse yourself into the true culture of the city, and I think you’ll enjoy it even more.
