We watched your Looe video on Friday night and really enjoyed it - we have just watch this one -you both have a wonderful way of ‘story telling’ & you bring everything to life which make your video’s so interesting and entertaining - thanks for the ‘bonus’
Great video & story! Will definitely visit Looe ~ love all those winding lanes and those pretty cottages. Years ago, I used to keep two cute pet rats. They were always going AWOL, so we called them : 'Thelma & Louise'.
Hmm, I thought the RATatouille we had for dinner at The Ship in Looe when we were there tasted a bit gamey!! (Only joking! The Ship is actually a fine pub/restaurant 😋) Very interesting and entertaining video, thanks for posting it. Looe Island looked lovely when we were there and it looks like you took the same road out of the town that we did when we went exploring. P. S. Happy St. Piran's Day! Hope you had a great day. 🙂
Great video, Sarah and Andrew! I bet rats don't taste much different from rabbits- all rodents. Really enjoying your bonus Sunday videos. Happy St Piran's Day. We had pasties to celebrate! Jx
Erm, not Yum definitely! More like Yuk! I have that book about the sisters buying the Island. Don't think I will ever be able to look at Looe Island again in the same light without thinking of your video! x J x
Lived in West Africa and went to a restaurant where they served me what they called "rat". It was a rodent 4x the size of a rat as we would know it. It wasn't tough and the main flavor was the sauce it was in. I just remember liking it and I didn't think it strange to eat rat since it was so much larger than our variety.
Nice surprise to see this video 🥰 How interesting. I have never eaten rat, but have eaten some pieces of Guinea pig in Peru. It tasted a bit like gamey chicken. I had alpaca too, and it was delicious. In Austraila I have eaten steak of kenguru, emu sausage, steak of camel, and crocodile rissole. In Egypt I have had water buffalo. All tasted good, but the crocodile rissole didn't taste a lot. Just a hint of fishy chicken 😄
@@CornishWalkingTrails by the way, I guess many would think of whale, deer, roe deer, reindeer and moose as strange, but they have all been on my plate too. They are not uncommon in Norway. Especially moose and deer.
@@TravellingTorunn Oh Torunn! You make me laugh!! We tried reindeer and camel from Lidl a while ago, but I cna't remeber what they tasted like! He! He!
@@CornishWalkingTrails Oh Sarah and Andrew, you are adventurous too 🙂 Reindeer has a more gamey taste than camel as far as I remember. I don't remember camel as very caracteristic in any way. But it is 13 years ago I tried it - in Alice Springs 🙂
Great video!! The strangest thing I have eaten is crocodile. I didn't like it, and it was still a pink colour when it was cooked. I've eaten alpaca in the House on the Props in Polperro. That was lovely xx
Fab story again and quite believable really...you can definitely see that happening 😋...not sure if it will ever be on my menu though 😝. I suppose if you were starving it would be 😏...let's hope it never comes to that again 🙏😁😘
The story came to life! Thanks Sarah and Andrew for making it fun! Yikes, 😮 though! Hopefully no one puts one in a silver plater to eat!!! Enjoyed this story time 🌷Ana🪴
Watched this with my cat, and Theodore wishes to know why they didn't just bring some cats over to catch all the rats! He thinks that would have been a brilliant solution 😸
You never cease to amaze with your local stories Sarah, I guess if your starving Rat Stew would be a highly prized delicacy, we have problems with water rats occasionally but no one has suggested a barbecue 🍗 yet! I think there was a shot in ‘Poldark’ when prisoners were eating a rat for Christmas dinner 🥴 or was that in ‘Outlander’ 🤔 thanks again both of you for another entertaining video 👍
Rats hmm 🤔 yum?! If the rats were sewer rats perhaps they taste like 💩!!! Looe poo rats! 😂 the strangest things I have ever eaten (which are not strange at all) Deer, Rabbit, Frogs legs. Thanks for sharing!!! 🤗
@@CornishWalkingTrails it’s funny but rabbits really do taste like chicken, frogs too. So not sure why people hunt them when you can get chicken easily?! 😆

Cringe at the thought of eating a rat. Tried Elk once in Wyoming with my cousin at Yellowstone National Park. Sort of like beef. Never ate it again. Escargot a couple of times. Not to my taste! 😆😆😆
@@CornishWalkingTrails Thank you for continuing to share lovely Cornwall and fascinating historical stories. I think I would love visiting Cornwall soon! I live in beautiful Pennsylvania countryside and never see rats but my daughter has seen them in the city. This winter we didn’t get any snowstorms which is unusual. 😬😲

Loving the looe content
Maybe the film makers didn't like the name Looe, but it is the nicest Looe I've seen

A rat that didn’t resemble a rat!!! Wow! Sarah :)
Nice video, not sure about a rat sandwich, what about a strew!!! Let me know what it like before I visit Looe. All the best Bob

'Ratatouille' perhaps? 😅😅
😂
They say,if you see one rat. There is ten rats around.
Never more than 6 feet from a rat!!! That’s why we have cats! Sarah :)
Strangest thing I ever ate was a moose burger!

That thought crossed my mind too - but how many cats would you need?!? 😂 Sarah:)
I had a reindeer burger in Anchorage airport, Alaska in 1989 🦌
Come to think of it, Lidl stocked reindeer one year and we did try it - made a lasting impression obviously! Sarah :)
I live overlooking the island - I'm local and never knew this !! 🤢

😂
I've eaten mousse 🐭 does that count?
Goodness me! Yum! Sarah:)
I guess they just ate them in the local ratsaurant.

😂 squeaky! Sarah :)
