I stumbled across your video while searching for sonlight reviews for older kids. Thank you so much for sharing this curriculum review. My son is also going to the 7th grade and last year we used sonlight only for science. We really enjoyed sceince F for 6th grade. I would really like to hear more about the math curriculum sonlight uses for 6/7th graders. Could you give a more in depth review about their math curriculum for older kids?
Sure! I have used Their Singapore, Saxon and then I used Teaching Textbooks. I have videos on Saxon 7/6 ua-cam.com/video/woefTYb7Fbo/v-deo.html and Saxon vs. Teaching Textbooks ua-cam.com/video/Ap_qeYrg4G4/v-deo.html I'm planning to do a comparison on Singapore too in the near future. :)
@@TheHappyHomeschooler can I ask why you made the switch to a 5 day curriculum. Do you find it hard to get everything done? I am looking at doing HBL D with my 5th grader and HBL F with my 8th grader. Do you think a 5 day curriculum with these two cores is too much?
@@jamiebeall4657 actually at the time Sonlight only had a 5day option. I’m trying to remember which core it was but I think H and J both did not come with 4 day options. That’s changed now and H has a 4-day option (although J still does not). It’s really up to you, I have found that completing everything was much more achievable on the 4-day schedule. I always used day 5 as a catch up day OR co-op day. Those are such fun cores! Core F is one of my all time favorites. Ultimately I think they are doable but if you are feeling worried you could definitely do the 4-day. I think you’ll still find yourselves with plenty of school and maybe that extra day will be a bit of a breather for you. Maybe do field trips or more hands on learning those days. 😊
Are you saying you do 4 different cores? Or how do you combine your kids? I've got a while before I need to worry too much abt that but I am starting to think through some of that
Thanks for your enthusiasm! I'm so doing Sonlight!

Do you do the 4 or 5 day Sonlight curriculum?
I’ve used the 4 day in the past, but the last two years I’ve done the 5-day. 😊

Good question! I did 4 cores this year, but honestly it was too much so I’m planning to combine cores this upcoming year. Video on that coming soon! 😉
