  • This is a quick tutorial to show you how to perform Roll on the Z axis in ZBrush - based on screen space. Really handy for aligning models to photographic reference.

    thanks for the tutorial, I've been a big fan for a while.
    Just curious have you done any video related to brush placement or anything that involves brush affecting to height or cavity?

      Thanks Yen, appreciate it. I'm not sure what you mean by brushes affecting height or cavity, but perhaps this one might be of help? ua-cam.com/video/xImci3MJzwU/v-deo.html Again, just not sure exactly what kind of thing you're looking for unfortunately...

      @@SeanForsythTutorials ahhh thanks for sharing this. Yes this is the part I am talking about that how one continuous stroke affects the height. Maybe some further settings of the brush which defines how tall ( deep ) one stroke will build up or something like that.
      I'm not sure maybe something to do with Brush Placement in Brush > Depth?
      But this is just something extra, what you've done is already a treasure for the community. Just sharing a thought of mine, could be a reference for your future videos maybe
      cheers!

      @@yenhsunchen3818 Can't believe I've only seen this reply now. UA-cam studio isn't great at highlighting posts that aren't new ones. Thanks for the kind words! I've had some health problems recently, so that explains the lack of videos going up, if I get back to doing them again, I'll keep this in mind.

    How can I rotate on the X Axis? I see here you only showed this working with the Z Axis.

    • @SeanForsythTutorials
      @SeanForsythTutorials  Місяць тому

      Yeah, this was more for a screen space rotation than anything else. Rotating the camera strictly on any given axis iosn't a strong point for ZBrush I'm afraid. It's much, much easier to rotate the object than the camera. If you want to rotate all of the objects, you can press W to go to Move mode, and then press the last icon on the right of the gizmo so that you see 3 little boxes on top of each other. This will then allow you to rotate all of the objects at once using the X axis rotation on the gizmo (make sure to clear any masks on objects first). Hope this helps!

    Ah, this was helpful :) A side question: In Zbrush, under 'Projects' , there is a Dice Primitives project. I'd like to be able to apply an Alpha of a dragon to all of the faces of the 20 sided dice at once. Is there a way to do this in Zbrush? I'd like the alpha to be applied at the same time to each face of the dice so that the alpha is centered and has the same depth etc. I've been trying to google this but to no avail :/ Thank you :)

      @SeanForsythTutorials  Рік тому +1

      Hmm.. the only way I can think of doing this is to unwrap every face and have them sit on top of each other exactly. That way when you apply a texture to it (which you can then convert to an intensity mask) you'll automatically do all of the faces at the same time. ZBrush sucks at unwrapping thoughm so I'd recommend doing that setp in Blender or something instead.

      Once you have it unwrapped let me know and I can hop on a call with you and show you the rest of it if you want.
