Really helpful video! I’m playing a party tomorrow with an XDJ RX2 and I feel much more confident now, having never used this model before. The rest of the mixer functions seem identical to other Pioneer products, but really nice to see the menu functions up close.

Thanks for this! Don't think I saw you explain what the white markers are under the waveforms though. It seems like it's just 128 beat markers, but is there a way to change this to maybe 32 or 64 beats?

Pleased the video has been helpful, when you say change the beat grids, are you after looking at the wider or closer or something else? Also a handy button is the shortcut button so you can get to search really fast 😎🎧👍🏻
@@RealLifeDJ I mean that on some tunes, the beat grids don't line up tidy with the first beat. On my old Traktor controller, if I held down the shift button and spun the jog wheel backwards or forwards. It would move the beat grid to correct the it. Cheers for the advice. 👍

Select the deck you want to correct by taping the deck number on the play screen, push the scroller and rotate it to adjust beat grid.

great video, thank you... needed this very much! say you've selected one track to play from say USB 1 > folder > track 01... once the track has finished, will it automatically go to play the next track (02) in the folder or not?
Glad it helped. Yes the next track in the folder will automatically load (cue on) or play (cue off) Under the USB 2 button on left of screen is the auto cue button to switch out play on and off. Enjoy :)

What size usb did you have plugged in?
Was what's on the usb all rekordbox pre analyzed tracks?
I'm trying to figure out how I get the wave forms up on the controller screen from the usb drive, it Def works via midi connection. But is blank from a usb stick. I'm guessing it's because is pre analyzed. Are you able to elaborate please?
I use 64 and 128gb and they are all pre analysed tracks in rekordbox, that’s how you get the wave forms 😎👍🏻
Awesome review JP! Having a problem getting my playlists onto my USB, my CDJ-RX2 just gives me the track and artist options on the browse menu! How did you get your rekordbox playlists to sync to the USB? I exported my playlists by right clicking “export” on the playlists in Rekordbox to the USB, but nothing!
What version of Rekordbox box are you using?
@@RealLifeDJ lol I just figured it out! I needed to format my USB to FAT32 🤦🏾♂️. Now all my playlists synced fully!!! Thanks for the reply!!
On a Mac go to disc utility and erase that usb stick in question.
Make sure RB isn’t open!!!!

i have a question when looking for songs on the the screen is there a way to see more info vs time and title of the song ....like i can hit my playlist but also see time title and bpm of each song before it is loaded into the decks .....i am coming from a laptop and i like to see my folders and see all the info for songs like key bpm
You can configure what is displayed and in what order for the menus, I’ll do a short video on it 😎🎧👍🏻

When you load your playlist from your USB does it keep it in the order you arranged it in Rekordbox or does it mix it up into it's own order? Thank you for the awesome vidoes!
As long as you have exported that playlist
Yes it does and you can choose to sort by bpm if you like
Your video was very usefull i could never find how to auto cue untill i watched this video, i have a question though is there a way to pause a track and it to slowly wind down just like when using the old cdj 1000's?

Great video! Does it work the same for when you connect a laptop with Rekordbox running?
You have two options when connecting a laptop 1) Export and 2) Performance if your running in export it treats the laptop like another usb drive so works the same but if you have it in Export mode you select the music on the laptop. Hope that helps 😎🎧👍🏻

Does the RX2/xdjs before 3000 have track preview feature, when you dont need to load a song on a player to preview sections of it ?.. For me its kind of important as a beginner dj with fastly growing library and bad memory XD. These seconds when searching a new track is very important, as you can get "stuck" in the screen for longer if the navigation takes more time. Rekordbox on laptop allows that by clicking on the waveform, and I use this from time to time. Also afaik the denon prime 2 has it, and im biased to get the later as my first all-in-one system.

You don’t need a laptop connected, it records to usb 😎👍🏻

Is there any way to change the keys from classical to alphanumerical?
On rekordbox I did change it from classical to alphanumerical AND so did I on my USB settings.
But when I plug it in my XDJ-RX2 and go to filter by key, well it shows the keys in classical view.
Any way to change that on the hardware?

@@RealLifeDJ There is not! I contacted Pioneer DJ and their support team told me that only the XDJ-RZ supports alphanumerical display...
Pioneer needs to step up their game and let us update the software on their hardware, like Denon.

why do I have the problem with the XZ that if I only move the crossfader slightly away from the edge of side A, you can hear the track on side B directly? I have already tried all 3 settings for the crossfader curve. I didn't have that problem with my XDJ-RX.
Are you saying with only the slightest movement the XZ is brining in full volume

Yes you can use the laptop to search for tunes and go through playlists when connected 🎧😎👍🏻

How do you get the beat grid to work? I put my usb in load my tracks on and it doesn’t tell me any info on my music nor the beat grid? Tried everything and nothing is working, also on deck 2 the play/pause button doesn’t stop it keeps playing like it’s on loop?
Did you put the tracks through Rekordbox first?
@@RealLifeDJ They’re already on my rekordbox on the laptop I thought just by putting them on the usb they would play? Well some tracks have gone on and others haven’t, also some have come up saying they’re unsupported but work perfect on the laptop?
You need to use rekordbox to put them on your USB, that way they are all analysed and have the beat grid data.
is there a way to zoom into the waveforms? so that its more close up on the screen
Hi, Yes you you rotatle the knob left and right to zoom in and out. Can put a quick video clip together if you would like? 🎧😎👍🏻

The Pioneer XDJ-RX2 correctly displays both the Cue Point, the Regular Loop and the Autoloop set by rekordbox. The first 2 (cue points and regular loops) I managed to create and store them in the USB pendrive directly from the XDJ-RX2, while the third (autoloop with red icon) did not. 😔

I have a question but I can't find the awnser. Those white stripes underneat the song, what are those and how can or do I use them? I think it has to do something with the phrases.
Those are just minute markers. 1 minute between each bar. Hope this answers you if you didn't figure it out yet
