Man I'm almost 36 years old and I have failing eye sight I just got diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and glaucoma lol I'm an original gamer that uses to love playing the original il2 sturmovik and il2 sturmovik 1946 now I just watch yall play I couldn't play to save my life I'd be missing targets left and right
Perfect timing! I've been getting into the Korean War era recently and bombing in the Sabre has always given me trouble, even with the automatic 45-degree dive-bomb mode.
This came in a good time. I bought the Sabre years ago, but never got to really learn it. Now I reinstalled it, and learning to do bombing and all the other good stuff. Thank you for this.
I don't claim to be much better with the Sabre but, here's what I've been doing. If you flip through all the placards on the face of the dive computer to the last one, you can manually adjust the site depression. With the manual pip switch and sight set to "Bomb" and the sight uncaged it won't float around. Essentially, you can bomb without the gyros and adjust the sight's vertical position based on your preferred bombing profile. My practice pattern is 10k', 300 KIAS, Roll-in, Idle-boards, 30 deg dive angle, release at 3.5k'. I find that keeping the target just at or below the canopy rail on my base leg sets me up for 30 deg dive angles no matter the altitude. And, as you say, practice, practice, practice.
Tried your bombing range. It's amazingly confusing. Spent an hour in it and never figured out what the target was. told me "MBT1" wtf is MBT1? there is no Main Battle Tank 1, just Leopards and M33253 M235235 M24355 M110101010 and some boxes and stuff. Kept saying "140 meters south west of the smoke" and there would be literally nothing south of the smoke because the smoke was further south than all the targets. Very fkn frustrating. Don't know why the script can't just say the name that DCS shows in-game instead of what the filename of the thing is. Because APC1 and MBT1 tell me absolutely nothing about what I'm looking for.
Well sorry you are having trouble with it. The names of the targets are specified in the target list file. I chose them because they made sense to me. The Leopards are a modern Main Battle Tank as distinct from the WWII tanks that are also present on the range. M-113s are, of course, APCs. As far as the target marking goes, I have not checked it in a while - there may be an issue. The script developer does frequent my Discord channel and might be able to help you out there. To be honest, I mainly use the range for the static targets so it's possible there are issues. Again, if you'd like to come to the Discord channel, I'd be happy to see if I can help. As a final note, all of the scripting - including the target list is completely open source and included in the mission. If you would like to reconfigure or rename the targets, you can, of course do that. There is a video on the channel about setting up a range, but, again, I'd be happy to provide any help I can through my Discord channel.
Thank you for making this F-86F bombing tutorial for us Iain.

Excellent. Let us know how it goes.
Good to see the Saber dusted off

Excellent advice - I am going to give that a try! Thanks for the tip.

I didn't hear but the electric cage of the gunsight is very useful with bombs and rockets
Glad it helped!
There's an automatic mode in the Sabre. Have you tried?
Yes, but I could not get it to work. Could not get the bombs to come off the airplane. I need to go back and check my switch set up and try it again.
Is there a download for this map? that looks really useful.
