The Derf Slab - RideHub Trail Physics

- In this episode of Trail Physics, RideHub's Principal Instructor Matt Trotter (who also trains and certifies Instructors on behalf of the BICP across Canada) takes a deeper look into a famous rock slab just off the blue technical trail FRED in Squamish called the DERF Slab (DERF is FRED backwards). Fred is part of a classic Squamish lap that locals appreciate as slightly off the beaten path. This rock slab isn't a typical Squamish rock slab that was meant to be ridden slower, but it is a steep and tall rock that can be really intimidating for riders due to the approach and height of the rock. Matt dives into some of the techniques riders can use to improve success when riding steep rock moves with high speed exits and also addresses some of the most common problems he sees when working with clients.

I'm glad you're still making these trail physics videos. I haven't had the chance to ride Squamish in 15 years or so, but I still like to watch these videos in the hopes that I will get back there!
You're missing out - hopefully you will make it out here soon!
Great to see these videos back. Took a cornering clinic with you guys last summer and it was a blast
Amazing series. Very well explained. Thanks
Amazing video. Thanks!
Really like the coaching style, detailed and informative.
Watched through some of your back catalogue. Glad you're still doing these. They're great!
Great breakdown Matt!
Great video. Is the shoot next to it with the timber bottom bridge, the official line and if so is it easier?
